Gerrymandering on a vast scale. CMD gets away with the big one….maybe.

Lego Minecraft…..might well hit the spot if I can get something for the right price.

Menkind site looks worth a trawl. I think he had an RC copter a few years ago and I got more fun out of it than he did!

    Thanks for the input.

Two things I have always wondered about here.

    1. Don’t their arms get tired? You can hardly stop for a bit to have a rest can you?

    2. Is there a way of doing without the parachute? You know, changing the angle of attack so you gradually stall and come to a dignified halt. That would be really cool….the penalty for error might be a bit uncompromising though. You’d need to b very brave to be the first one to test it though! 😯

How about giving it a rinse in the bath or shower when you get out? It should dry ok in a warm room and be ready for the next day.

I’d forgotten about the cycling shirt fad. My lodger of the time kept asking if he could borrow my kit. Given that I only had three shirts….thick long sleeve, thick short sleeve and thin short sleeve, I told him to get his own, then had to hide the blooming things so he didn’t go off clubbing in them.

Hated him, couldn’t wait to get rid.

I have remembered to publish! :O)

In the end I changed my html editor to Textile and it worked fine.

    Thanks for the help everyone.

Rather along the lines of the OP. My almost MiL (I escaped from that entanglement more or less unscathed) hit the roof when we were talking about some friends coming over to see us. He was a suit but she was a bilingual secretary.

‘You’re not having one of THOSE people in your house are you? Disgusting etc’

Not sure if she was upset about the suit or the supposed sexual preferences of someone who could speak English and French fluently.

I have had Endura MT500. As above but as usual for Endura the zip is pants and they skimp on the velcro.

Shimano Pro – very similar to the above but the zips started to undo from the bottom up. The fabric is smoother than the Enduro and shreds easily.

Both pairs had a tendency for the ‘nose’ to flip up and sit on top of the shoe.

Have a brand new pair of Northwave waiting to be used.

I read somewhere that it is possibly a good idea to layer your overshoes. First of all, put a thin pair on first, then put the heavy duty outer layer on top. Haven’t tried it but the theory appears sound.

Anyways it ain’t for you, so stop being judgemental & start saving…

    True!

Must take grumpy old man hat off more often and embrace the consumerist world!

Now if it was a pair of carbon wheels for my road bike, or a nice new frame for the replacement SS I have been promising myself for years……

You can have as many life insurance policies as you like…well as you can afford.

This assertion is made from a position of knowledge not hearsay. I have been advising since 1983 so I sort of have a reasonable idea….well I hope I do!

Friends are a decent enough company but don’t ignore the other major players. Friends Income Protection used to be the dog’s danglies for e.g. but not any more. There have been subtle changes recently (to new policies only) that mean they aren’t quite as dominant in the market as they used to be.

An easy way to check if the fork is leaking….this is going to sound bad.

Fill the valve with spit. If there is a leak it will bubble. If there is no air coming out you can eliminate that as an issue and it is a lot easier than putting the fork under water. Easier to clean up too.

Well that’s what I would do anyway…if you are looking for the leak that is.

    HTH…a bit

I ran cantis for ages until I got sick of having to anticipate braking about 30 yards early…in the dry, on the road!

Switched to mini vees. Amazing…I can stop again, and in the wet.

As I discovered they can be a PITA if you want to get the wheel out in a rush (with 700×32 on) but if you are using a 700×25 they are fine.

I tried and failed. Stuffed the new rim strips away in the shed in disgust. It appears the issue may have been my tyres – Kenda SB8. They are very baggy so I promised myself I’d get different tyres.

So far all I have done is convert my CX bike into a winter roadie. Losing the plot here methinks!

A mate of mine had a road version and actually did pretty well on it considering. It was still going a handful of years ago….he had given it to his dad who used it as a commute. Looked horrible IMO.

My extremities get cold and make long road rides in the winter quite miserable. I sort of cured the hand thing last winter with a change of gloves and silk glove liners. Would silk sock liners do the same job for your feet?

The glove liners are warm and very thin so logic would sort of suggest a sock liner would help with warmth and would not bulk up too much*? Outdoor shops seem to stock this type of product but as I’m not a walker/mountaineer I don’t know whether this is more of a blister prevention or a warmth thing.

*In conjunction with ‘normal’ socks and overshoes

I fancied dipping my toes into CX again, after a huge amount of time off. It seems I have less than no chance of getting a ride so have packed in the idea, at least for this season.

It seems that Eastern Region races are massively over subscribed with riders being regularly turned away. A mate of mine said that the last one he did had 80 riders sent home disappointed.

Tyres for Thetford? Racing Ralph front and back. If it gets a bit rubbish, stick a Nic on the front. If it gets really rubbish just put the kettle on and have a brew.

The thought had occurred to me that the ideal plan for these ‘short course specialists is to make a random segment maybe 10m long on a bit of fire road and watch to see who falls for the bait.

My father in law had Parkinson’s. The doctor gave him three years before he would notice a worsening of symptoms. In the event, it was more like seven.

Sadly for him, he developed some quite rare complications that were associated with the initial diagnosis, but not a direct result of the condition.

He died about 18 months ago but it was not the Parkinson’s that did for him. He was in his 80s so had had a pretty good innings.

I’ll echo the comments above regarding up to date medication. They do seem to have amazing results.

I have done the leaving the front door open all weekend thing too.

At the time I lived next to some seriously fierce bikers – some of their frequent guests were in the Hells Angels I was reliably informed. Anyway, on returning home I was accosted by a couple of frightening looking characters enquiring as to my intentions regarding entering the house. Suffice to say I was not ‘allowed’ in until my neighbour had confirmed that I did indeed live there.

The comments of my ‘guards’ went along the lines of ‘you never know who is who nowadays, you get all sorts of riff raff if you aren’t careful!’
