Does the Timepiece still do a heavy metal night on a wednesday?

The usual metal night now is Thursday. Pre drinks at Exeter Arcade, altern 8 (Metal DJs) at walkabout and then Metal after party at Tinepiece afterwards.

Exeter has some great places to eat and drink including a 1920s speakeasy bar (which looks like a bookshop) and a steampunk cocktail bar which is amazing. It also has Exeter Pirate Day which is basically a pub crawl collecting money for the RNLI and singing sea shanties – this is great fun!

Paisley Freight seem to be highly recommended. I’ve not used them myself though.

Park PCS-10 Workstand (old cheap one fell to bits at the weekend)
Park tool tray for the above
Park P-Handle allen key set as I’ve always fancied one
Park Mug for work as my work mug is perma-stained and it looks horrible
Royal Matrix Jacket as my old Altura one is no longer waterproof – only lasted about 17 years

For DNS to work you will need to add something along the lines of this to your server.conf (assuming you have a DNS server at home)

    push “dhcp-option DNS XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX”
    push “dhcp-option DOMAIN mydomain.co.uk”

Spent ages reading through Glasto Chat to see if there was anything more interesting than endless “Foo Fighters speculation” – there wasn’t…..

@hughjayteens I’d be interested to know why he prefers the 5010 to the Hightower. I was torn between the 2 when I bought mine and never did test ride a Hightower but keep thinking about doing so.

    You won’t regret it!

The current v2 is longer than the v1 5010 which is still quite short.

There was one buzzing round the kitchen last week. Shame I discovered this by standing on it with no shoes on. Mind you, even the sting was a bit half hearted. It disappeared before I could convince it to go outside so no doubt I’ll be getting stung in the foot again soon.

Marin is a great old school trail. Not ridden it since the rename and the new section but a trip is planned. Penmachno is fun but does get rather damp as has been said. You also meet some interesting (in a completely crazy kind of way) people in the carpark at Penmachno mid week. The guy who was telling me to be careful because the Taliban were training in the forest springs immediately to mind.

It may just be the way I ride but I found the machete flexier than a fleet thing from flexy thing and winner of the international fleet competition. They also have the cheap damper alas.

Manitou Magnum Comp here, it is fine but lacks mid stroke support so is a bit divey.

The Pro has the damper from the Dorado. I prefer it to the Pikes on my other bike. Feels very floaty.

Manitou Magnum Pro – actually a very good fork!
29+ Pikes don’t seem to be available yet except OEM
You can fit a fox 34 27.5+ boost as well

Oh, and you can use a Lauf if that’s your thing.

Circa £4k – should have spent circa £5k and got the one with hubs that don’t need new bearings every few hundred miles…………

Definitely MTB – Road is less in time and distance and is only generally used when it’s ridiculously horrid on the trails. Although this year it’s mostly been Zwift so far!

This year it’s Glastonbury, Beautiful Days (as always) and Grinagaog a new festival in Torquay run by the people who run Shangrla at Glastonbury.

It’s throwing it down here (Newton Abbot) at the moment to the point there is an awful lot of standing water and there is the odd strong gust but the met office appear to have downgraded the weather warning to 40-50 from 50-60 and the period is now much short.

Local coast webcam looks unpleasant but that’s about as far as it goes Teignmouth Webcam

Cheers folks. Plenty to think about there. I think I’ll start by seeing what a specialist dealer will give me for it as to me it’s dead money anyway and work from there. But if I do sell privately then I’ll definitely go for me driving first then private insurance if I decide I trust the buyer. I’d be more worried about ending up on fire in a ditch with no legs as a result of a test drive than them stealing if TBH.

And for those who asked – here’s a couple of pictures

Alas not a Tommi Makkinen – that’s basically an Evo 6.5. It’s also a GSR not an RS so it has most of the creature comforts. As for expecting a return – no I really didn’t – I’ve just got bored of spending money on it. I spent £7k at Norris Designs in 2015 on the big service with cambelt and tensioner etc., new suspension and replacing the rear subframe mounts which rust as soon as you look at them on evos and I’ve done under 300 miles since then.

I’ve put the standard interior back in so it’s not especially heavily modified now – aftermarket wheels and a lightly breathed on engine.

OK. No test drives it is then.

As for the car it’s not really that exciting. Just an Evo V so an 18 year old Japanese saloon really – just a fairly quick one.

Android v6 by any chance? If so it’s no wonder as even the Nexus 7 2013 which h was still supported at the time and is Google’s own device (although made by Asus) had trouble with videos. Basically they would play fine for a bit after a reboot and then suddenly stop working completely.

The Glastonbury ticket system might be flawed but at least it stops this rubbish. Bit overkill for most gigs though.

I’ve used it on Android wear which I assume will be similar. I tended to have it on the display which is just a directional arrow to follow (when following a pre-defined route) and pull out my phone if I needed to consult a map (which was rare).

@stumpy01 – I killed my first brake unit doing the firmware upgrade as well. This on a brand new iPhone 7 though. 2nd one worked fine.

I’ve done it. Bought some Ercos for my beetle one Saturday and decided they wouldn’t go with it being yellow so bought paint on the way home and by the end of the weekend it was Matt grey. Looked awesome but I was knackered, my index finger no longer worked (I used cans on the drive) and if I had to do it again I’d pay someone else to do it!

Try Customriders, a much better shop that wankstanleys as it’s a dedicated BMX rider owned shop.

Now there’s a name from the past – is Mason Smith still anything to do with it? If so, I must pop in and say “Hi” next time I’m in the area. Haven’t seen him for years!
