I did weigh 20 stone. A Hightower worked for me but I seem to remember you’ve already had one of those? Maybe that was someone else. I’m 6’4” and had an XXL which meant the seat angle wasn’t crazy on a V1. Still go the frame. I really must get round to listing it 🤦‍♂️

I didn’t lose my asthma when I lost 7 stone but an inhaler now does last about a year so the attacks are much less frequent.

6’4” here – a Kona Remote 160 fits me pretty well. One of the longer ebikes (or it was at the time I bought it – there’s probably others now).

EDIT – Reach 510. Short chainstays (for an ebike) which may or may mot be your thing.

Using the same grips my hands are positioned pretty much where you say but reach to the outside as well as I have wide hands. I also find that despite having big hands the slim version lets me relax more and therefore ride faster. Also, I’m 6’4” – if I use the formula for bar width I should be running something like 850mm bars. I prefer 780. 800 doesn’t allow enough movement for me and 760 feels too small. It’s all very personal and subjective though.

I managed a couple of decent rides last weekend. Sadly this weekend involved installing a sound system in a pub and then a workshop day. Part of the workshop day was bleeding a reverb which is easily my most hated workshop job 😫 But hey, I got to go to a pub – even if it was shut and I was the only person in it 🤷‍♂️

Mrs slowbloke has them on her Frontier. They seemed very reluctant to stay up tubeless initially and now they do they puncture on a rather too regular basis for my liking even when I’m not puncturing cycle cross tyres on the same ride. They are incredibly light though – might be better when everything dries out a bit.

Go on then – Kona Remote 160 but most of its components have been upgraded. It’s great but I wouldn’t be without my other bikes as I much prefer something lighter and more playful – the remote just blasts through everything.

I’ve got one to sell as well but as it’s an XXL that’s no good to you either alas,

Speak to Pacenti. I was looking for new wheels for my ebike for ages and couldn’t decide but they gave great advice.

Well, the other day I saw someone describing bikes as – wait for it – “organic bikes” 🤦‍♂️

You’ve probably checked but fluff in the connector on the surface itself? Not seen it on a surface but I’ve “fixed” a few phones that won’t charge with a cocktail stick and a bit of gentle digging.

We had lots of them start doing it at work. Mine was the first. We tried all sorts. Removing the case from mine to keep it cooler worked for a while then it came back. We ended up replacing them all in the end.

I ordered one yesterday – I went for the Kitsuma option after watching a few videos and reading some reviews – in fact choosing the colour was more difficult! I went for Afterburner in the end.

Unlike most people on here (it seems) I’ll be donning my glad rags and then drinking and dancing till the small hours. This will of course be followed tomorrow by shame and regret 😂

@Matt_SS_xc I’m also living in Devon and spend quite a lot of time driving to Wales or FOD as let’s face it Dartmoor is quite often in its natural liquid state. In fact I’m on my way to the Forest of Dean now.

I go to the Forest of Dean once or twice a month and BPW about the same amount. Local stuff is mostly for midweek riding.

No one indulging in the proverbial coke and hookers? How very un-singletrack

Quick pint after work then see how it develops. The town seems to have a standard circuit of pubs that people do on nights like this so if you do the circuit in reverse and skip Wetherspoons (always a good plan anyway) then you can usually manage to have a fairly nice evening out.

Mine seems to ignore me. But If I come back from a tough ride and announce “my legs hurt” she’s all ears……

I’m off to see a few punk bands tonight. Put the headliners t-shirt away and dug out a Buzzcocks one as soon as I heard. Pete was a top bloke and a great performer.

Lager (1/2 pint), Cider (1/2 pint), Vodka, Gin, Blue Curacao, dash of orange juice if you’re feeling flush and don’t mind drinking something that looks like a pint of fairy liquid. This isn’t a session drink mind……

**EDIT** I dread to think what this would cost these days – not drunk it since I was a student.

There was a bug when googlemail first came out so that if you registered Fred.bloggs and someone else registered fredbloggs they were both the same mailbox and you can both access it. I shared my email with some chap high up in an evangelical church in the US as a result. I just got another email address.

    Could be your problem?

Does your password have any characters that might be in a different place on a US keyboard? If so, try swapping them around to their equivalent positions in the password just in case you typed the password on a US keyboard and now have a UK format keyboard, or indeed, they keys aren’t typing what you think they are due to it still be a different keyboard layout – try typing your password in the username box to be sure.

    @tjagain – ever read this? https://www.theguardian.com/society/2006/apr/04/drugsandalcohol.drugs1

Very limited sample (as in 1 person) but he did take rather a lot of MDMA over a long period. Mind you, if he’d drunk 25 pints a day I doubt he’d be in good shape either!

Seeing them tomorrow. Just read the Venues list of prohibited items as it’s been expanded and amongst usual – guns, knives, drugs it also lists “Glow Sticks” a new one on me for a prohibition list (not that I’d be taking any with me) but also “Food Helmets and Food Masks” whatever they are 😂

I had a 5010 v2 – it was fantastic, till I rode a Hightower but then I’m 6’4″ and 29″ wheels seem to suit me. My Hightower is XXL  – 505mm reach which is ideal.

I shaved my beard off  for a change (I’d had it for 28 years) a week ago and so decided to do Movember followed by Decembeard. Day 1 – slight stubble on top lip – let’s hope it gets better……..

Basically they’ve hacked a site (or got a list of passwords from someone else who has) that you’ve used that email address on and they are hoping that you are using the same password on multiple sites. I use a different one for every site so it also identifies which site they have hacked to see if I already know about the hack.

Hasn’t the first bit of the descent from the crossroads already been a bit sanitised? I swear there were more loose rocks on it when I first rode it but that was enough years ago that I may just be mis-remembering it.

That railway line is weird though – not only can you climb 900 feet without trying it looks downhill when you look back at it from further up. It’s like some kind of weird optical illusion that extends to the legs.

No idea why you would ride down it though.

@BlackFlag – I would say you stand a damn good chance. I’ve always found them quite reliable. Even the Vicious Valley one everyone always brings up is just a drop and maybe a little larger than some of the others on the trail. Do a blue first and pay attention to the trail grains progressing thingy that puts them roughly in the order of difficulty and you won’t go far wrong.

Nah. Folks who hang around at the top wouldn’t use a cafe unless it was sited in the way of at least half the trail heads I reckon.
