heard about it at 5.30 am on the radio as me and 3 mates were off for a couple of days snowboarding, the cheery morning "crew" were clearly shaken and apologised for not being able to make anyone laugh as they were so freaked out, initial reports estimated 35,000 deaths so i figured i'd better get a good day in on the slopes as the northern hemisphere was probbly gonna be toast by the end of the day. realy didn't feel like I should have been frivoulously enjoying myself as thousands met an awful death.

Living and working in the lakes, seeing a boozy local bird who I would end up with for 5 years, riding with a kiwi and a saffa after being off the bike for 3 years, enjoying the stinkingly hot summer of 1995.
Realising that I didn't want to stop travelling so off i went in September 98, best move I ever made.

I recall going to see a movie waaay back in the mid eighties entitled 'Streets of fire' and even at a tender young age thought that the entire cast were trying to out ham each other. It was, and remains the worst ensemble of over-actors ever.

    'That'll be chocolate'

my mate came out with a beauty one night in the pub; his hands had developed a strange peeling skin affliction and he was heard to say "look at my thumb, it's like a blind cobbler's cock" made me laugh for hours.

All of Urge Overkill- a band that sports White linen suits with Gold medallions of their band's logo while all their contemporaries were tregging around in flannel shirts and cut off combat pants deserves a mention.

Cheapo Mambo multi coloured surfy style watch which i bought as an interim timepiece until i saw a new watch which I liked the look of, that was in 2002 and the bloody thing just won't die!
Official Swiss railway big Date model, graduation gift from my Dad.
Fossil with large plain face on a nice fat 70's style green leather band.
all ace in their own way but the fossil has 2 huge ugly scratches which i did very early on which piss me off no end as i'm too skint to get a new glass.
google imaged all of them and nowt came up.

Yep agree with south Island call, less people ,better scenery and cheaper ale!
Lake Tekapo is lovely, as is Queenstown and Wanaka, they are both toutisty meccas though so not all that peaceful, try a lazy drive up the west coast for some great scenery and secluded little beach towns.

Dad is one of my best friends, even my mates invited him to their wedding and sat him down at the boys table for the entertainment that was in it. He's instilled some very wise words into me and i can only hope that my kids love me as much as I love him. He's just turned 75 and spent the last couple of months Skiing in Cervinia, visiting me for my grad ceremony in NZ and is currently cruising on the Norwegian fjords.
Mum is getting a bit forgetful and is on her 5th marriage and rues the day she left Dad. funny old world innit?
