Just when I thought On-One had paid full attention when specifying a frame..

(cable guide removed in this pic)

I’m seeing the same frame as mine in the link – the small frame has cable guides on top tube, med/large frames run along the down tube.
Also, only the Ti 29er has rear thru axle from the current On-One Ti offerings.

Seriously hoping my welds don’t fail(!) , Rides lovely, lots of modern touches, seems a genuine steal at £1199 on that deal.
FYI, I don’t think it’ll take wider than 2.25/2.3 on the rear.
Also, the upper cable guide on the down tube fouls the fork caps on full lock. Annoying.

I think they add minimal protection to a crank arm, if any – in some cases.
Although, if you’re a spanner monkey and/or have carbon arms with inserts they probably offer a small amount of tensile displacement.

I’ve fretted over it before having lost a single washer and not having a replacement to hand.
Fitted pedals anyway. not died yet.

Just fitted a pair of Conti Mud King 1.8s – was weary of the width initially but they came highly recommended, and although they can do virtually nothing about the ice-like chalk on SDW, their mud gripping capabilities proved to be the best I’ve ever experienced.
    Very light too.

Wheel truing was far easier than I ever thought it would be once I read the basics and understood the physics.
It’s been immensely smugtastic to true/build my own wheels ever since, and have others think it’s some sort of black art.

Fellas at work are regularly spending hundreds on bike serving, I cannot for the life of me understand why they wouldn’t want to fettle it themselves. Even if I could afford LBS rates, I’d always choose and trust my own skills.

Rims are 27mm Havens (Arcs). Gives a nice profile on 2.4″s.

Sssimon – forgot to say that I noticed they had pulled the frames a couple days ago.
I saw they had shifted approx half of the stock during the week or so they were on offer – my guess is they will use the remaining stock to build full bikes (better margin?).
Either that or they’ll turn up again at £399 or summink daft

26T! (oval) Was previously on fat bike duty, but I kind of enjoy the range now.

The ‘Trail’ brake set doesn’t really make sense to me

Apparently most of the Magura staff/riders were mixing 4 and 2-pot set ups for better control on the rear – for which the idea caught on and went to market.

I was all set for 4 pot up front and back, but the Trails have had such good write ups that im now awaiting a pair to arrive so I can find out for myself.

All things being relative, of course..

I’m a Cotic fanboi – and have been very tempted by a Solaris having loved several Soul’s, but I prefer the detailing on this Ti-29. And for the same money, it’s Ti.
(which I realise may be a negative factor for some)

Rides great. In fact, I was putting noodly steering down to the Fox 32s on my old frame – but this frame seems to have much more positive steering. Which came as a surprise.
Also feels nicely planted at speed, and dare i say it, less ‘buzzy’.
Currently weighing in at 26lb on the nose (with conti mud kings fitted).
    Happy.

You can fit upgraded ALU levers that give MT7 adjustment.

    Circa £29ea I think.

Nashville Skyline and Desire are right up there. But most listened to is probably the Pat Garrett soundtrack! Amazing album to meditate to.

20 mile loop of Cissbury/Chanctonbury yesterday – can confirm that the exposed chalk was lethal.
Sunny side of hills dried up nicely though – as above – the sheltered sections are likely to cause most grief.

    Another vote for Spesh.
Don’t even need to remove it from frame to service it.

Just been offered a PS4 Pro today for £150. Havent really been that interested since CoD World at War/Modern Warfare days – but the new WWII ad’s have been doing the trick.
Sounds like the PS4 Pro is a stonking machine.

They are consistently reviewed as being particularly reliable.

Very tempted to purchase one myself as a back-up – lacks of funds means my faith in my trusty Spesh IRC goes on..

    do I really need Bluetooth

Exactly what I thought, then tried em, won’t go back now.

Charge em at my desk via micro USB maybe once a week, takes a couple of hours. That’s at least 30hrs of service from one charge. Can be hard wired for use whilst charging too, just carry the cable in the carry case if it worries you that much?
The Y50BTs are also solidly built and leak virtually no sound which is great for office use. Cancel out most ambient noise too.

Grahams advice is sound (pun intended) – that’s a stonking price for P5s which are stunning earphones, and have been on my lust list for years.

I was a faithful AKG451 user for several years and swear by them, but was fortunate to be given a set of AKG Y50BTs last Christmas and have used thems for several hours per day since – amazing Bluetooth headphones for the money – if you can stretch to the circa £90 price (shop around) then the liberation of being untethered to your source plus an amazing battery life means you’ll be very glad that you spent the extra.

Just been out at the shops and inspired by this thread I picked up a Lowe Alpine Fjell at Mountain Warehouse for £14, in their current 30% off everything sale.

Comfy fit, loads of room for keys/multi/co2/small waterproof. Should serve me well for shorter rides.
Will deffo be looking at a larger Evoc style one for all day rides at some point, always thought my Mule was overkill for the type of riding I tend to do – especially the heat retention bit.

Ha! Yeah, I meant that we’d agreed on a suitable venue (it’s a big deal as we haven’t eaten carbs for months). She was appropriately spoiled.

Will be building the 29er up with Fox 32s and Shimano 1×10 plus Spesh command post all from previous build.
Mainly trail bimbling/longer ride duties but possibly with a mind towards racing at BBD next year.

And yeah, £610 seems brilliant value. £11 more than a Solaris, figure it’s got to be worth a punt.

    Correct.
Seemingly released with little fanfare, but the numbers worked nicely for me so was just a case of waiting for them to discount the frames.
Nearly spat my Readybrek out when I saw they’d dropped the price -38%

Will post a mini review after I get it built and ridden this weekend

Deffo bargain end of the Ti scale, 29er flavour.

Have agreed to take her out for a meal tonight – hadn’t thought of the neighbour interception, I suppose I could claim the frame is for her?..

Have been to Chilli Pickle and really enjoyed it – will be looking to try elsewhere tonight though

Took my full test in 2008 and rode through a succession of bikes until 2012 when a BMW driver side swiped me on the M25 and wrote off my lovely SV1000 (and put a nice little hole in my shin for good measure).

Took a couple of years to get the bug again, but now I’m very much a fair weather ‘get it out of your system in spring/summer’ rider.

I like having a cheap bike on standby in the garage for rare commuting/football parking duties but even in the 10 years I’ve been riding I’ve noticed an increased amount of pressure on the road systems, plus I’m less willing to bounce along the overtaking lane of the M25 in my older age..

They are a brilliant toy, but I’m dreading my son coming of age and wanting to ride – vulnerability is an understatement.

KS Lev works nice and light, especially when paired with a decent lever action, like a Race Face or Spesh lever.

Oh look, there’s a 272 Lev in the for sale listings..

    Thanks daviek.

I am certainly motivated not to fail – the big 40 is coming up next year and I want to be in good shape from then onwards.
But in all honesty, once you’ve gotten over the initial cravings – having stable blood sugar levels pretty much eliminates hunger cravings – so it begins to feel like cheating!

Also, had a piece of birthday cake last month – literally couldn’t finish it, the body seems to reject sugar when it’s no longer used to it.

So, hows you guys getting on?

I’ve kind of naturally evolved from Atkins Phase 1 to a Phase2/3/Low carb high fat diet.

My exercise performance is beginning to get back to where I was a few years ago and as of this week I’ve pushed through a recent plateau and and currently running at -68lbs since commencing in Feb.

Feeling much better health wise, beginning to enjoy running again and have progressed from 5-10 mile rides back up to 20-40 milers.
2018 is going to be a great year for me, all thanks to binning carbs!

just a shame to see such a rock icon fall into such decline

    Harsh much!?

Saw him at Roundhpuse a year or so ago and he was genuinely excellent. The band rolled out Wholle Lotta Love and it was a fantastic moment when Bob hit the heights. I was not expecting any Zep tracks to sound so darned good after all these years.
Haven’t caught up with Catching Fire yet but the last album was really good.
His last 5-10 years are probably his best since Zep split. As said above, hardly anyone from his area is doing anything credible anymore – the guy is worthy of his leg-endedness.
