isn’t it great having music mess with yr head.

    100%

    It was an introspective experience.

    A review.

Abandon all hope of the spoken word.

A slow wailing drone builds in intensity for circa 20 minutes. The expected crescendo doesn’t ever appear, but in its place a jarring distortion that has no place being there.
Except, one starts to find interest in the un-obvious..

Then, unexpectedly, one begins to move in time to the..beat? No, there isn’t really a beat. But i’m moving anyway. Weird.

The initial strains of violin now cut through the din and offer a contrast to the tension of the guitar distortion.

In summary. It messed with my head (can’t you tell?), but it was a good experience. I particularly enjoyed the first half – which apparently was the newest material.
I think my stamina waned towards the end. And I never expected to see a ‘gig’ where there was literally no encore invited nor offered. Apart from obviously not having a short track in their repertoire, the performance is more akin to an orchestra than rock concert.

I’m actually now fascinated to see if the loud live aural onslaught really can lift it past the slow motion Sgt Pepper orchestral run out that I’m currently aware of. I’ll report back if I have a religious experience.

It’s at Shepherds Bush Empire next week, the Roundhouse in June.
Have 1st floor seating area tickets which should be ace as the view and sound from that tier is spot on.
I’m looking forward to the immersion, too many people saying its a great experience for me to not get into it. Probably.

Cheered myself up by securing a ticket for Faith No More at The Roundhouse this morning. Shweeet!

Haha. Yes perhaps I’m going to simply have to try it out live. I just found the live recording so repetitive and dull, like a boring funeral procession March, going on and on and on..

She loves the wall of sound and says that it’s an immersive experience live. Fingers crossed then.

Now there’s an answer I liked reading 🙂

Did you lay in kitchen area? If so, any extra proofing around sink/washing machine areas?

    slimjim78

    Ok. Thanks.
If i decide to crack on i may just remove the skirting and lay underneath skirting line. Surely I can use off cuts as a spacer ‘kit’?

    *tiling onto suspended floor

    slimjim78

Hmm. It says not suitable for bathrooms on the packaging but no mention of kitchens. I imagine I’ll be renting this place out in the next year or so therefore I don’t fancy having to replace the floor again should a tenant decide to soak it.

Maybe I’ll take the flooring back for a refund and consider vinyl or tiles. Just not convinced about timing onto a suspended floor (chip board panels I believe). Any ideas on best practice for ensuring good adhesion and no cracked tiles?
I don’t think I have clearance for adding a second level of boards prior to tiling.

Fortunately if lay sideways on i will run up and under the existing kitchen cupboards/kickboards, so I won’t need to worry about the width of the final board.
Point noted about kitchen usage. I’ll make sure to put plenty of joint sealent on boards, especially in area of WM and sink.

It’s real wood laminate, does that make any difference to fit and longevity?

Neal – I would counter that i did lose confidentiality, according to thier policy. However minor, it could have been worse. They have set a precident against the same confidentiality rules that I am bound by.

What do you think would happen if I made a human error and gave away trade info or some such misdemeanour? Would they brush it under the carpet?

If nothing more I think it’s an interesting scenario.

Yeah, I guess so. As already said, im less inclined to do anything for the very reason that I don’t want anyone else to get into trouble.
My main interest was garnering opinion and I always tend to play Devils advocate. Despite njees claim, I havent ever caused undue suffering to another employee for my own gain, but conversely i have previously been on the receiving end and privy to some rather nasty HR heavy handedness. As a result I don’t tend to trust the HR departments and never assume they are actually there for my/other workers protection.

There were initially some comments regarding having a case, which I found interesting but the general consensus does seem to be to move on which I already have done – I do try to be a nice person, honestly.

Again, that’s not the point being raised.

Opinion on what should/shouldn’t be sensitive info is just that, opinion.

In this case, the info is sensitive and private according to the corporation strict policy

    slimjim78

Junkyard – im only going by my companies very own policy – it is them stating that my financial info is P&C and IT is them including ‘private & confidential’ at the start of the very email in question.

They have crossed thier own strict policy. Other examples of such examples are all well and good, but each company is their own, with their own procedures and outcomes.

I’m not saying I want heads to roll or anything like that, and I am agrieved somewhat by may salary reduction so perhaps somewhat biased – but I’m merely trying to gauge reaction and opinion. I tend to agree with the ‘brush it under the carpet’ approach, but then again my power to the people button has been tickled.

Benji – lend us a tenner?

The point, I think, is – this is a large corporation with strict policies and procedures in place for good reasons. If we the employees slip up or contravene you better believe that the full weight of thier ‘law’ will come down on you.
Whilst I agree that this disclosure is relatively minor, it is still my own personal and private information and it is protected by thier own rules.
Now, if this email happened to be about a disciplinary procedure I was going through, or an even more sensitive matter like a complaint I had made or accusations etc etc – then one would assume the same result could/would have happened.
The policies, If in place are there to protect both parties and if breached then confidence is lost. They are the global corporation worth circa billions, they should really know better and practice what they preach. No?

    The question was assumed.

‘Should I act upon this potential leverage?’

Opinion seems mixed, leaning towards no.

I may just change my response to ‘see you next tuesday’.

    Hi xxx,

I am not particularly pleased that this confidential information was forwarded erroneously to another party.

Can you please confirm the length of duty required in my contract to be eligible for company sick pay. And can you please also confirm if I am able to substitute holiday in lieu of salary deduction.

    My drafted response. Overkill?

Yes, i’m more miffed about the tightwad scenario – which itself has heightened my miffedness about the confidentiality issue.

I’m not keen on the idea of the payroll person being reprimanded. But i’m in an awkward limbo of being several hundreds down, and seemingly having a small amount of leverage..

ethically – I’m not sure where I stand here. What would Jesus do?

I’ve got a spare one .I’d do it for £30 but you’d need to collect it from the Staines area.

Sold. Used to live in St.Aines so know the place well, will drop you an email to arrange. Cheers.

racks like the 561 must put a lot of loading on the forks that they never see in normal use. I’m not sure they’re a great idea.

I kinda get what people mean here, however, I use(d) mine with a 20mm Maxle converter which seems a rock solid interface. As above, my amateur engineering mind can’t see how that would create more stress than the fork shouldering the combined weight of my fat ass and bike gear down a hill at 40mph.

    Ok, 20mph.

    15.

seeing 591’s for sale at ‘sandcliffeshop’ for £55. Seems a good price, although £6 for postage on top.

Have heard latest versions are built longer for 650b/29ers, can anyone confirm this?

I have one of the ltd 853 SS Inbred’s – could very easily end up my sole trail bike if I wasn’t seduced by modern gear.

Turns in a wee bit slower than a 44mm headtube modern steel frame, but skips and hops over everything i’m capable of riding. Very comfy too.

Thanks for the advice guys. I tend to agree with the general consensus that the proper mattress beds and ease of towing with smaller car stick out as main benefits.
Plus like others say, for £500 you don’t stand to lose much should it all go a bit pear shaped. The drying out part is a pain but not insurmountable, and I much prefer the feel/environment of canvas or cotton over the synthetic materials.

Main sticking point I see now is that my car model (megane GT) has centre exit exhausts which seems to rule out the standard megane tow bar options. Can anyone advise a towing guru that could possibly offer a solution?

I like quiky cars but the kind of money being quoted is frankly rediculous for essentially a rusty corrugated sardine tin.
