is that the Grey or Raw finish robware?

Also, I have massive calves that used to rub against the e-stays on an old Alpinestars cro-mega I briefly owned years ago. The seat stays on the Tusker certainly look wide, am I running risk of frame/calf interface here?

Also, does anyone know the difference between 2015/16 models?.. I can’t spot anything on my old browser.

It seems on 2nd attempt that I can still order a Raw.. so i’m hoping this means they are still producing them and just out of stock.. ?

cheeky – would you (or anyone else) care to give a mini review on the ride qualities and build quality for the frame/wheels? Does the reach come up a bit short, or feel roomy? would love to hear more of your thoughts.

I’ve been researching manically for a few days and have come to the conclusion that at the price its right up there for best entry Fat option. I really like the overall look too (never a bad thing), and the 150mm spec fork leaves Bluto option open for wheelset at a later date. Perfick.
If I can source Raw its a deal sealer.

Have emailed both Fin and Rose.

Visually it is still absolutely stunning. There have rarely been as large scaled and creative sets before or certainly since. The costumes and colouring are also superb.
Atmospherically, it’s darker than Donnie’s dark place.

It was a probably a shame that they cut as much of the original story as they did (almost inevitable if you don’t want a LOTR type yawn-fest), but as a film I think it stills stands up in its own right. I came to it as a kid, prior to reading the book which isn’t usually my favourite way to do it – but I think that following a mild obsession with Twin Peaks in the early 90’s, seeing Agent Cooper running around in an energy force-field and killing Sting was all I needed to cement a love for the film.

I certainly wouldn’t let ‘nukes’ spoil a fantastical story line – in such a universe (space-bending blobs, genetic witches, longevity spice mining, giant guard-worms), I struggle to see how using high energy weapons could be enough to put you off. Pretend ‘nuke’ means something else if it really bothers you?

To me, it was a visual treat, that a masterful Lynch seemingly injected a lot of his energy into – and created something that went beyond the short crowd-pleasing ‘battlestar gallactica’ type fest that the Studio were probably hoping for. In pulling the reigns in, the overall impact of the movie was muddied. Possibly.

It’s not something I can watch yearly, but every 5 years or so I find it a treat on many levels.
Slightly rose tinted from my perspective? Also possible.

Great sci-fi on a photographic level if nothing else.

how do I find contact details for this Finlay guy? (Rose Rep). I want to be certain that no Raw frames remain, as I want one.

Are the naysayers the same muppets that got dizzy over The Martian recently?

That would explain much about the in house sci-fi gang.

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion

I bought a frame from CRC a couple weeks ago, unused currently, noticed last night that that’s come down a further £50 (sad face).
I’d really like a Trail but I’d lose my shit if I forked out £1200 now and used it once or twice before seeing it dropped down to £999 again in the new year sale bonanza

    slimjim78

    I cannae see it neither

So it wasn’t my imagination that the trail was at £999 recently then? Damn. I can’t pay £200 more for it now knowing that

Where are the lovely raw/silver Tuskers coming from? I can only find the drab grey ones on their website

My impressive stature calf muscles used to hit the seat stays on an old Alpinestars cro-mega I once owned, I’m worried that the OO Fatty frame will also hit my calves as it looks such a wide junction with the extra tyre clearance built in.

I don’t have the opportunity to try before I buy and am hoping to bid on a set of the OO wheels on the bay ending in an hour… Need someone to put my mind at ease

Ive just asked the other half if I can treat myself to a fat bike for xmas, and stone the crows.. she says ‘if you can afford it’

    That means yes, right?

Any South Downs rides planned on the 5th?

We treated ourselves to a Nespresso machine a couple weeks ago in the end of line sales, was around £200.

I’m happy with a Nescafé but the Mrs likes a good coffee and used to blow £3 every morning at the petrol station. Now she takes a flask and it costs about £0.30 per pod.
To be fair, the froth this thing kicks out is impressive, I’ve never had coffee quite like it!

We’ve found tesco pod variants that work out £0.21ea and taste pretty good.

It’s easy to remove the milk section and pop it in fridge and/or clean it. Self cleaning mode is good too. I’d recomend them, only minor gripe is coffee comes out perfect drinking temp, leave it for more than a minute or two and you’ll probably want it hotter. Using room temp milk helps.

But then being O-O the frames will be £150-£200 soon enough, blutos are ‘only’ £450, O-O wheels+tyres are £250, £30 for a headset and £70 for some cranks and you’re down to needing normal spares box stuff and it’s only cost £1k (the same as the complete bike) and you’re free to upgrade the bits ytou like

I’m trying to work out a cheapo build cost – where are you seeing their wheels+tyres for £250?
I can only spot the V2 wheelset for £300 plus tyres at £80 the pair. I ‘think’ i’d rather the V2’s as aren’t they the easier set to run tubelss?

With the classic fatty at £800 currently and the same spec as the carbon fork fatty, you can instead buy a carbon fork for £99 and come in £100 cheaper than the carbon fork version (I hope that makes sense).
    So, £900 for a fatty/carbon.

However, if you dig a little deeper you can also find that smart looking Tomac Hesperus full carbon jobbie for £1500 with full 11sp X01. Then you can start the prolonged justification process..

Nice vid. I can see a huge benefit for those gloopy winter rides. I’ve cursed those trails that suddenly turn into bog fests.

Think I’m gonna rinse my credit card. Guys, Fatty or Trail? Discuss

    He means “it’s an on-one”

    A bit like “it’s a ford” etc

I see where he’s coming from, but the Fatty does indeed look the bees knees. Worth a punt surely?

Can anyone tell me the real differences between the fatty and the trail?

Oh yeah, am I right in thinking the trail version was offered at £999 not too far back?..

Woke up thinking about Fat’s. A sure sign that I will buy one.

Has anyone done a ‘list’ of Fats?

I wanna festidiously compare until I can convince myself which one is right for me.

thanks jambalaya, i’ll try the computer connection thing this evening. I have wondered if the previous owners reset has left something hanging somewhere.

I didn’t even try connecting to Safari – I was to embroiled in the app store / itunes affair.
Gave up and watched Grand Designs instead.

George Lazenby was best in When I’m Cleaning Windows.

Mark Kermode rates it as his joint favourite

I have had to strongly reassess my opinion on Kermode after his love-in for The Martian – which frankly was a pile of dung.

    Sweet, cheers 40mpg.

Frame material is more a case of habit than anything else, plus I dont like the look of the OO so much. Angles look good, tubing, meh.

VFM.. both standard and trail version are beckoning me. Bloody credit card company just offered me 2 years 0% on balance transfers too..

Damn, my fat curiosity has now piqued.

Ok, so I have a few questions..

A concern for me has been standards chaging constantly whilst fats find their feet. So bearings/seals/bb’s etc, all the bits that usually hate mud and grit – how much trouble do you have sourcing them, seeing as these bikes are largely used in such conditons?

what kind of average speeds are you managing on your usual trail runs? much up or down on your normal 26/27.5/29 runs?

do you feel more tired after a given distance riding these?

can you take steep drops and hit tabletops etc (given the opportunity) just as you would a standard bike? I’d imagine you’d have to think twice about the ‘gnar’ jumps as surely gravity takes over sooner on a fat?

How many of you ride fat and easily keep up with non-fat mates on a ride, or find you are beating them?

oh yeah, fat fatty riders – how low do you go with PSI before your tyres burp constantly? I’ve always assumed that fat tyres at low pressures dont mix well with lardy types?

I’m really keen, plus I love the perceived value of the OO Trail, but I prefer to ride steel if possible. Can’t help feel that i’d prefer to run a Bluto, though. Almost want to buy the OO Trial just to drop all that weight in going tubeless too!

Postierich’s pic on Pg1 is where I want to be. If I can add silly amounts of grip to loose lines then i’d imagine a grin inducing ride is never far away.

It’s not easy getting to see a specialist. I’ve never managed anything less than 4 months. In fact, I pretty much don’t bother trying unless my body tells me that something is genuinelty not going to heal without profesisonal intervention.

Even then its usually best to hand over your hard earned for a speedier resolution.

They are well placed and qualified to decide how to treat you or refer you on

I’ve had to ask for my last 2 referals after months of dilly-dallying around trying various ointments and potions that i’d already tried and knew wouldnt work.

Everyone going straight to specialists with small insignificant ailments is why the NHS is gubbed.

Had LHS hip injury for over 18mths before I went to see GP. 2nd hip has similar symptoms – **** if im going to go through the same for another 18mths.
Have already stated that i’m likely to go private on this occasion.

I’ve sourced that roll of PVC at costco for £99. Might be a go’er for me as im fairly sure one roll will cover my floor pretty much exactly with minimal waste.

Hmm. This interests me. Bit thin at 2mm perhaps though?
Could stick it down with a bit of spray glue, cut the edge to fit and install some skirting board around the garage walls. Neat.
