Edited.
Literally cannot be bothered to argue anymore. The are many foolhardy cyclists.
There are many more aggressive inconsiderate drivers. That’s it, and as it always will be.
Ride and drive safe, fellow humans.
slimjim78Free MemberIt’s true though!
Don’t get me wrong, they are big strong mofo’s.
slimjim78Free MemberYeah sorry. 20 games if they have a good season. That’s like, almost 4 non-stop hours of being an athlete.
slimjim78Free MemberChecking in. Always loved the IF badge. Bet there are more beauties to follow
slimjim78Free MemberHave a very loose interest in the NFL. However, can anyone explain HTF they get away with playing all of what, 12 games in an entire season? And still make the uber millions?
They make about 14mins of actual running play in a match FFS. It’s beyond absurd. Still, I get suckered in occasionally by the spectacle.
Life long Dolphins ‘fan’ here. Marino has a lot to answer forslimjim78Free MemberPfft, just finished my Sunday Nespresso with cookie. Deelish
slimjim78Free MemberAwesome tips. Thanks guys. Have never tried Maxxis so may well be worth a go, but lots of others to also consider now.
My riding is mostly South Downs/North Downs with an occasional flurry at Swinley and and Afan. I like to corner at warp speed so über grip upfront required
slimjim78Free MemberOk,
Honest Burger – Soho (dean st I think)
Bodines – Soho Poland st (the pork bbq I mentioned above)Both fantastic burger restaurants. I consider myself a bit of an expert
slimjim78Free MemberHave enjoyed MudX in the past, good to know they still impress.
So no love for Conti/Maxxis/Sssshwalba?
slimjim78Free MemberThere’s a pork speciality place on outskirts of soho (fnar) that has ribs, pulled pork and awesome burgers.. Ill be back when I can remember what the bloody place is called!
slimjim78Free MemberWhat Leicester are doing this season is truly wonderful to watch unfold (including current performance against Citeh).
The whole season including the last several previous suggests to me that training methods and techniques have peaked and are now more evenly spread than ever before. I wonder if we will ever see a team dominate for more than one or two seasons again – until perhaps then mega bucks disappear
slimjim78Free MemberStill remember it like it was yesterday.
Then you weren’t there, man
slimjim78Free MemberI am Yunki – have always been a fan of spicy food.
If a 2nd bike isnt a possibility then your options are more ltd. I would personally source a suitable frame capable of both your requirements and store your fave frame for a rainy day. Either that or for a tensioner on your Soul.
TBH sticking gears back on a frame is only slightly less faff than rebuilding a different frame. Built my Simple back up in the garage the other day in about 20mins, including transfer of headset cups. One of the joys of SS
slimjim78Free MemberErm, buy a Simple?
Surely similar cost or cheaper than adapting your special Ltd frame. Which if breaks and is fixed, will no longer retain its specialness.
slimjim78Free MemberSeeing quotes of ‘Manchester football capital of the world’ is fun.
Wondering if Jose is a spent force. In which case he will probably fit in well at United after all.
Despite criticism of his defensive strategy, his record at Real helps largely dismiss that belief. IMO he has one of the best football brains in the business, but doesn’t have the mental stability to back it up. At some point. Be it 6 months or 2 years, he will show his true colours and break down in a massive fit of patheticnessslimjim78Free Member£10 says OP goes through with it despite entire cycling community lambasting
slimjim78Free MemberGot me a pair of backstage passes today for James at Scala. Wish I had seen them at the peak of their career, but still, will be nice to shake hands with Mr Booth
slimjim78Free MemberOne Direction, Wembley Arena 2013, front row. Got to see right up Harry’s skirt.
slimjim78Free MemberCarbon paste seems to have worked for me.
Failing that, every slipping post I’ve had in the past has been cured by using a Salsa lip-lock seat collarslimjim78Free MemberInterestingly I picked up a couple tins of Polyx from the timber yard for sealing some new internal oak doors. Are you sure it’s robust enough for sealing this board in the bathroom? It’s likely to be subjected to a fair amount of moisture/humidity
slimjim78Free MemberWho wants to join quite probably the slowest team of the event?
slimjim78Free MemberThanks slack – i’ll post a picture up later this evening of board and proposed location.
I didn’t ask specific age of this board but it came from the main part of the mill where all the lovely well seasoned (and pricey) boards are stocked.
The chap mentioned that most stock is likely to have been seasoned for up to 2 years dependent on variety.
How do I tell?… It has the look and feel of a seasoned piece to me, but i’m about as far from expert as possible.
Actually, I think I have a moisture sensor probe knocking around somewhere from back when I had a wood burner..I think its around 27mm thick. Could be 32mm. I’ll double check.
slimjim78Free Membermy Mrs would bite his hand off. Would the dog bite hers off?
We’d only be able to take a dog that could practically take care of itself as we are out for up to 8hrs per day. But wishing your mate all the best getting this one a good home.
slimjim78Free Memberagreed – always wise to carry a spare lightweight tube and a pump for emergencies. The only time my set-up let me down was when I slashed a sidewall on a flint track, no amount of sealant was going to plug a neat slice.
On that occasion I was able to flag down another rider and I bought his spare tube.
Have carried a tube ever since.I noticed an immediate improvement in feedback or ‘feel’ when I went tubeless – perhaps this is amplified more as a heavier rider – I don’t know – but I feel more adept at sensing grip levels when cornering now, as smaller pebbles/gravel etc are perceptible when riding over.
I also felt like I was able to spin up to speed slightly faster, and my front end felt more flickable. As mentioned above, there’s very little to lose at the minimal cost required to trial tubeless, but potentially a good (marginal) gain to be had.
One thing that made the whole process far more bearable for me however was getting my hands on a small/portable compressor for my garage. Instantly made track-pump swearing sessions a thing of the past with stubborn-to-seat tyres. Priceless.
Some of those new-fangled high volume track pumps also look like they would do a super job.slimjim78Free MemberSo I visited English Woodlands mill a few days ago and picked up a few samples plus spoke about cutting list and pricing. I must say that I could have spent literally the entire day wandering (and wondering) around the place looking at all the different cuts in various states of drying – the natural qualities of the different woods were simply breathtaking.
As things stand we are looking likely to go for Western Red Cedar due to a combination of reasonable price, weathering qualities and its lovely uniform crispness when cut.
I’ll post a few pics when the project gets underway.I do have another question for the wood experts. Whilst at the mill I sourced a lovely 2m piece of waney edged Oak for use as a side/ top mantle in our new bathroom. It’s cut to size and a loose fit confirms that it’s going to look great, my job now is to neaten up the waney edge slightly to remove the loose bark and then treat suitably for use in bathroom/humid area.
I’ve read that I need to ideally use polyurethane varnish to seal the wood – and a good several coats at that. I’ve also read that oil based poly will add an amber hue to the finish – whereas water based poly will dry crystal clear.
I’m interested in preserving the original finish of the wood as much as possible hence an unstained and matt finish would be ideal. However, due to its loation I think an oil based product would possibly be best..So, can you recommend products you may have used and best way to achieve a high quality finish?
The wood will be in a frequently humid location but we will do our best to wipe away any standing water if it were to get onto the surface.Oh, also, what the best way to fix the ‘plank’ in place to help prevent warping but hopefully reduce chance of splitting?
It is to be fitted atop a boxed and tiled section – so essentially sat on top of two lengths of 3×4 timber.
I’m thinking about counter sinking 6 holes on the plank surface and fixing in place with SS screws, then back filling the hole voids with a small ‘peg’ of oak, and filing back down to surface level. However, what would be ideal is a way to remove the plank easily if ever needed, as the plumbing for sink taps and cistern are located within the void below.slimjim78Free MemberIf you don’t try it, you’ll never know.
Then you’ll never understand the smug satisfaction of hearing a puncture self-seal mid-ride – nor find out if the saving in rotational weight and improvement in feel is tangible. (It is).
slimjim78Free MemberMy iPhone 5 is a proper triggers broom, I’ve replaced the screen twice (smashed em) and the battery and camera both once. If you buy the tool set from maplin for about £6 they are really easy to open up and get to all the gubbins – plus it’s incredibly satisfying to sort them yourself for bobbins.
Think the camera cost me £5, the screen about £21, battery £4.
All new parts from eBay, all genuine (check seller rating and cross reference part ID numbers etc first). Actually I think the screen was a recondition unit, but I could not distinguish it from new and it performs flawlessly.
They are nicely laid out once you open them up, and with a bit of practice you can completely strip them down and build them back up in minutes.
Lots of vids on YouTube offer instruction, I’ve not had to do one (yet) but I’d be amazed if the battery charge point wasn’t a simple part swap out.My phone still retains a full days charge as a result – at 3 years old it’s performing as new. Feels good to beat the system.
slimjim78Free Member/\ that’s a great shout. Every year I miss this event and cry a salty tear over when I catch up with the after-show images.
slimjim78Free MemberNothing fills my heart with joy quite the same as a sorted steel frame in naked finish. I’d own 10 if I had the chance
slimjim78Free MemberWas PG not found to have been on the performance juice during his playing days? I’d be very surprised if his Barca team weren’t also on roids, Spanish sport in general has been tainted for a while.
I can’t get excited over his arrival for this reason. This plus the fact he would never have gone to Citeh in a million years if they didn’t have all the dollar.
For me Klopp was the last great hope to salvage footballs soul – then he broke my heart by signing for the bin dippers. Still, at least he went there for footballing reasons, no other reason to go there when he could have had his pick of club.slimjim78Free Memberthe way all the naysayers are getting so het up at people who think it may just be a placebo but are prepared to spend 5p a day of their own hard earned money because it makes them feel better.
I simply don’t like to see people being so easily duped.

I believe they are based on German pilot watches, either way, I am no watch obsessive but I think these look fantastic. All the right bits in all the right places, solid looking without any silly frilly bits. Going to get one for my 40th methinks.
Should be around your budget.slimjim78Free Member89 though, c’mon, that’s a cracking innings. be chuffed if I make it that far with all my faculties. No disrespect Frank – I hope you would agree sir.
