you forgot to add the cost of welding (Mk2 ownership).

Despite obvious greivences, I like em. They offer something different for a reasonable price.

Never got to scratch the Mk1 MR2 itch for that matter. Nor Mk2 come to think of it.

Floater Fat tyres for £15ea. Not too shabby.

Should be branded the needle in a haystack sale though

I don’t understand how you can recommend someone spends their hard earned on a car that in your own words is uneconomical, uncomfortable, and literally eats itself. Mind you, plenty of Landrover fans on here too.
It really must be a stellar drive.

incidently, anyone driven the latest MX5? They’re on the Mazda forecourt next to my office and I cant decide if I like them or not with those headlights yet

    Deary, deary me.

Ignore the hairdresser comments, they’re made by people who aspire to drive the cars of phtocopier salesmen.

What?! OP took it in good humour. C’mon, it’s well known that the MX5 is one step up the ladder from wide arch Vitara.
    I’m just pulling plonkers.

And I resent the photocopier salesmen comment. I’d much prefer to squeeze myself into a car designed around a typical Japanese mans frame. Alas, I am not Richard Hammond sized.

any further word on the large Dune guys?

been holding tight since november but still no closer to knowing if the large will appear. Its been hard to resist the Fatty at heavily discounted prices but ive decided that I really want the futureproof features on the Dune.

Having said that, combined with the 40% discounting yesterday it was possible to pick up a Fatty rolling chassis (including Floaters at £15ea) for around £480 including carbon fork and El Guapo hubs. And around £420 if going for the Fatty Trail frame!

It’s quite simple, do you want to spend more money than necessary on fuel whilst giving the appearance of a hair dresser late for his next appointment – in the name of a ‘good drive’?

Or do you want to save a few pennies and look less coiffeur, more ‘rat race man’?

If the former then buy the MX5

Park on little side road called Maultway North, just next to American Golf centre on A30, then ride north on same road into Swinley – within 5mins you’ll pop out at start of Labyrinth/Babymaker trails.

    Indeed.
I wouldnt buy a new bike from any manufacturer that I knew had bodgingly installed components with blocks of wood and heavy ‘persuaders’. Would you?

I’ve also turned down 2nd hand headsets that have clearly been installed and removed with the wrong tools.

Bikes are fantastically engineered. Working on them with the correct tools just feels right, no matter how good it may feel to save a few quid in the short term.

Doncorleoni – pray tell why it’s so awesome please. I can see potential, but I’d be worried about losing suspension up front. Does the 29+ front tyre really provide enough bounce to render suspenders unessessary?

Funny how spotting a grouse during a ride makes my day. Such a beautiful sight.

I once spotted a ruddy great owl sitting on a rock no more than 30ft away during a night ride. I stopped and we stared at each other for a few seconds, then it casually and completely silently swooped away into the night whilst I followed its flight with my helmet light. Felt magical.

of course you could have an On-One frame, and find that your cups press in with hand power alone.

I am keen to learn to do as many spannering jobs myself if I can and replacing the headset is one of the last on the list

    Commendable.

My best advice, buy a headset press. I did the ‘bodge’ insertion method for years and it generally works fine, occasionally it just doesnt work and causes damage to either the cups, or the headtube.

I bought a 2nd hand press for around £12 and its been used dozens of times since – and presses those cups in like a finely lubricated charm.

PVC tubing / copper tubing split to look like removal tube above would probably work admirably for a cheap removal option. Again, I used a flat blade screwdriver for years – and as a result damaged numerous cups. Mainly aesthetic damage to the lip, but still, looks half arsed, becasue it is.
You can buy the proper tool for what, £10

2 great tools to own that will last a life time and pay for themselves after a couple of uses.

Hmm, yeah maybe something like that Curtis in aesthetics, but I think I’d be tempted to go 650b. Lefty carbon up front, perhaps some bling King hubs

I’d be surprised (and slightly miffed) if the 5s drops much further in price on release of the new 5se

I only taped up to the edge of the bead lip (trimmed carefully with sharp scalpel.
Inflated first time and has never run flat. In fact, probably the easiest rim i’ve ever tubelessed.
Havent noticed it ever burping, but then I run at slightly higher psi than others to compenstate for my extra mass.

I bought a new 5S a couple weeks ago after the motherboard gave up on my 3yo iP5 version. Like you said, they can be had at around £250 now so if its lasts me another 3 years then im perfectly happy, seeing as its been the best phone ive ever owned.

I cant currently see the point nor afford to pay £200-£300 more for a 6.
Fingerprint ID is ace, I have access to my emails, Clash of Clans and eBay. Sorted.

Loving the angles on my new NS Eccentric, finding it climbs better than my old on-one frames, plus seems to have the perfect amount of flex up front to keep things tracking in the twisty stuff without breaking my wrists. Seems to fit like a glove too.
You could buy a 2015 cro-mo version and run a reducer headset?

Having said that, Pipedream have always looked good value for money

Just go balls out and pick up an HPI Baja in kit form. Massive, fast, uses a hedge trimmer engine so utterly reliable and runs straight unleaded fuel. None of the nitro down sides all of the nitro fun.

I agree, making the kit from parts it’s half the fun of ownership. The Baja kit comes with upgraded components too.

Yeah black moors are cheeky velvety little blighters.
Maybe I’ll check out some breeder groups, it’s just a shame that it’s so hard to find real good quality on the high street.
I guess the margins are too small.

I loved orandas and ranchu’s back in the day. A Bristol shubunkin is a fine gold fish too!

Also dabbled with Oscars when trying out tropical waters, great fish.

Thought it had promise, but as with many many modern films it failed to sustain it’s early pace and became a bit rambling. Was bored by the end.

The Reveneant suffered the same fate IMO, although I honestly think some of the camera work and scene setting was as good as I’ve ever seen. Stunning in the first half in particular.

To report to HR is akin to willingly accepting, and therefore wanting, your actions to probably result in someone getting sacked. If the behaviour genuinely doesn’t warrant getting sacked then I have nothing but hatred for the accuser. HR departments are Hell, wrapped in friendly gift wrap.

I would thoroughly recommend never flirting with anyone from the workplace – but as that would both prevent human nature from running it’s wonderful course, and would also have denied me a glorious shag fest with one of my old bosses year ago, I cannot condone anti-office flirting

‘Don’t ever date a work colleague’- does your partner know this?

But then we’d never have known the delights of the Krankies, Paul & Debbie McGee, Richard & Judy, Ant & Dec etc etc

Perhaps a coincidence, but I found my local Mini/BMW dealership to be the least flexible of all brands when it came to price negotiation.
My recent new car purchase adventure was a real eye opener when I came to realise how little margin the dealerships are making.
With 2nd hand car sales, I always think it’s worth waiting for the exact right car to come along, no compromises. If it’s the perfect spec/condition I’m usually happy to pay slightly over the odds too.

Hollywood has been remaking movies since the beginning of Hollywood. Think ‘True Grit’, ‘Ladykillers’ etc. If not direct copies then movies based on an original.
It just depends how much time has passed between them that seems to determine how pissy people get. Seems 30 years isn’t quite enough.
Kids will not care a jot, as they don’t have our personal childhood recollections to call upon.
