I found my (previous Gen) Escapade a bit short on top for my preference. I should’ve gone for a RoadRat and added a drop bar to that I reckon. Instead I had to run 120/130mm stem.
I expect the latest gen is a wee bit longer?

Matt grey sounds nice actually. Or gloss grey, like currently seen on the new Mini/Audi/Skoda ranges..

My final thought on frame, please lower the cable mounting point nearest the headtube, my fork valve caps strike the cable guide on my Ti 29er on full lock, and the tight angle that the cables enter the guide forces the cables tight up against the headtube/lower headset cup.

Brant, please go wild with the colours – don’t listen to these charlatans with their love of dark blue or dark green, or, tut, black.
Still got my bright pink Inbred SS. Pink FTW.

for the record, I was being ironical. I wouldn’t be interested in seeing them live if I didn’t think there was something about them.

Bez comparisons a bit harsh, but kinda fair too. That chap has some great beats up his wizard sleeve.

Cool, thanks OP. Just about to finish up with Z-nation too, which has been a lot more watchable than I initially assumed.

OP – your chosen position is relatively painless, but from someone whos had tattoos on most parts of the body, one the size you are aiming for will not cause any distress on 95% of your skin. Pick you favourite spot and go for it, that design is likely to take no more than 5 mins once they’ve fully prepped.

Fingers, feet, armpit into chest, ribs, knees, these areas will pinch a bit..

Where are people going for classified sales now?
I’m a moaner, I only have mobile devices and not sure if that makes a difference but I find the new classifieds section here pretty much unusable now. Also being hit by pop ups on my iPad, which never happened before. Such a shame, was so useful previously.

Have always been between sizes myself at 6’1” but with stumpy 31/32” inseam and loooong torso.
Have learned over the years that I much prefer lower and longer bikes (Cotic large pretty much nailed on for me), with at least 23” TT. Road bikes even trickier, I need a rarer 57cm sizes, as 58cm are usually too tall for comfort. I usually have to ride 56cm with a 120/130mm stem.

Yep, albeit on my old retro Kona. Works just great doesn’t it. M739 and/or M950 was peak drivetrain IMO (M739 more so for the lower cost).

I love the range on modern 1×11 and 1×10 but every configuration I’ve ridden since doesn’t index quite so perfectly.

    It’s finally happening then!

Despite the underwhelming response on here – I get very excited reading things like that!

Cons and Labour are both un-electable right now, so this Independent movement really spices things up.

I’m all for it – my vote goes where to the policies I agree with, not to a party colour.

I’d love to think that this is a real move towards complete political reform in the UK – but I just can’t see that happening. Not until the country/services/economy is truly on its knees at least. UK Politics proves to us time and again that even when broken, it doesn’t actually require fixing..

It doesn’t. Also don’t forget the skeletal advantage of males.

Quite, and sinew development, ligament development/strength, im sure there are more advantages.

Rachel McKinnon is arguing that they should not have to reduce their testosterone AT ALL because they are a ‘biological’ women.

And most of the statements im reading are as if this is fact, with others either willingly nodding along or too nervous to speak out.
In fact, I am concerned myself with being labelled a bigot or some-such just for merely suggesting that a woman with working testicles and penis, and no womb/ovaries should not classified as a woman in sport.

I understand that some women lose their reproductive organs or are born without, and I see the need for scientists to clarify thorough hormonal/choromosonal classification – but I also think we need to uphold some sort of common sense

She could have just said she thought that transgender athletes have an unfair advantage, rather than calling them cheats and implying that the only reason they are transgender is for sporting success, and will go back to making babies afterwards.

I read it as suggesting the current system leaves the door open for someone to willingly cheat and obtain riches – which would be a genuine threat, no?

She’s not calling TG’s cheats, but calling out the current rules on participation for Men to Women.

The science argument is the bit im struggling with a the moment – IIRC, a former man just needs testosterone suppressants for a minimum of 12 months to be classified as a woman, with wedding tackle in tact. I cant see how that alters a life time of a mans physiology enough that they no longer hold a strength advantage.

    Chuck Palahniuk’s – Haunted

A collection of loosely interconnected short stories, with the opening (I think) story offering one of three wonderfully graphic self-gratification scenes – one in particular involving a swimming pool, powerful suction, and an unravelling of the most cringe worthy nature.

EDIT: OMG, I just read that that particular scene is based on a true story. Holy yikes.

I don’t get it – she is a female, right? (serious question)

Believe any classification you like – but she was born without a womb or ovaries, and has internal testicles (producing 4x more testosterone than average women).
Those are all the facts I need to form a pretty solid conclusion.

Hermaphrodite is the scientific conclusion following her initial testing. I totally agree that this subject is one of the hugest grey areas, but I can’t support Caster competing in a traditionally binary sport, with all the accolades that would come with success in that sport, when she is half way to Linfords lunchbox.

Amazing feedback – thanks so much for your contributions.

Wide sweeping question..If Vancouver region is so expensive, where else should I consider looking?

For reference, im a wannabe hipster – live near and socialise in Brighton and East London, and have friends in hip parts of Berlin.. We’d be looking for a similar bohemian type area (Portland Oregon was also on our radar for a while).

I suppose that direct flights from UK would be ideal, as we have elderly relatives that would visit. Plus, i’m not enthralled with the idea of areas like Calgary, which i’m lead to believe are primarily industrial.
Long hot mosquito free summers would be a big bonus!

I really liked Montreal for the short time I was there, but ideally i’d prefer somewhere with a bit more undulating terrain.

is that if you can run without a sports bra you’re not female

What about men who need a sports bra when they run?, have I been competing in the wrong classification all this time??

The presence or not of dangly-bits is no longer a definitive measure.

IIRC Semenya (most ironic surname ever, surely?), has testicles?
In my mind at least, that draws a bollock shaped line in the sand right there.

We have Paralympics, we have Olympics for male and female competitors – how about introducing a Trans-Olympics or Inter-Olympics?, for those who don’t relate their sexuality as binary, or perhaps, you know, have balls and no womb or ovaries but want to be female. Like Caster.

My lasting memory of Geography at school is Mrs Goodley’s acrid coffee breath, and her baggy blouses and big ol’ boobies swinging around when leaning over your desk.
So, you know, swings and roundabouts.

I tried teaching, twice – if you remotely value your ‘me time’ during the day – then it’s just about the least suitable profession.
If you’re a virtual workaholic, im sure it is rewarding. I found the fact that actual teaching was about 10% of the role, with the other 90% being bureaucracy, it really wasn’t what i’d imagined.

Sanchez is a square peg in a dodecahedron shaped hole at United. And I fear the wheels coming off the OGS wagon any time soon – the United squad still lack actual leaders, and a settled forward line-up/identity.

Good luck to Ramsey, whatever his actual salary will be, its always good to see Brits perform well abroad – even if they are Welsh.

Wow, just caught that and the hiding of the match ball by the ref 🙂 Some humour out there

I was at The Amex this weekend to see one set of referees (amongst other baffling decisions) completely rob Brighton of a stone cold handball penalty, that I think even the Burnley fans had conceded from the other end of the pitch – how a referee and 2 assistants could miss it is truly beyond me – it actually smacks of corruption! And this is far from the first time I have seen this happen this season.
Until the standard of refereeing can be made consistent I take issue with any referee doing silly little dances when he awards a pen, and hiding balls in his shirt etc – Does he think he’s some kind of celebrity?? STICK TO YOUR FECKEN JOB!

    Grumpf.

I saw Future Island in Brighton last year, and about an hour before TWoD played last week :)

Definitely excellent, but even better in a smaller arena.

I think TWoD lead singer/guitarist (Adam Granduciel) is just perma-happy (it’s been a long road to success), which can come across a bit ‘why’s he always smiling?..’ From other footage I’ve seen and comments at shows I reckon he’s a dude.

DD – glad you enjoyed the atmosphere! I got chatting to a bunch of really nice lads who can’t have been over 20yo – all completely into the music and knowing of the lyrics – one even had an Arcade Fire tattoo (in response to my Arcade Fire t-shirt), and he asked me which was my favourite Radiohead album.. he wasn’t even born when it was produced (!).

Gives me hope for the sustained future of decent music when I come across young lads like them with such passion for the music.

    The Long Earth!

Terry Pratchett’s collaboration from 2012, whilst reading it I was constantly thinking what a great movie it would make.

    Proper interesting sci-fi/multiverse idea.
