Ive had sellers slate me when offering 10%/15%/20% lower than their asking price
Ive also inwardly whooped when seeing said items finish a few days later on eBay for less than I offered..before fee’s.

An item is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Sometimes its beter to tkae the money and run.

I also agree with the negotiating comment, some sellers wont even consider it.. weird

Its certainly made me sit up and take notice and think about making the time to get back the love.

    Really?
Would have made me think ”Jayzus, Ben needs to get over himself, I used to like him”

bikes are not cool; particularly when ridden by overweight men who ride round the woods getting covered in mud

    have we met? :?

no, there are good folks on the retrobikes, but ive come across plenty who refuse to accept anything modern and in the spirit of the article, they really are missing out.

I have nostalgia in bundles and a mini retro fetish so I know these things

Glad Benji is married, she’ll make an honest man of him hopefully.

fancy showing me the same trails on the south downs? Ive only seen flat bits so far.

I agree with Benji. It’s like sometimes I want to go out riding my bike & my mum makes me tidy my room instead… & girls. Sometimes they try & kiss you and want to talk about stuff. I mean yuk!! I just want to hang out at the pump track.

Or I could have just written that :-)

    My 2p.

Benji touches on some fair points, but his aggression (artistically liscened no doubt)is tiring and, frankly, annoying.

The article also smacks of someone who never met the right woman. Or possibly any woman if riding as much as he claims?

If thats what it trully takes to be a MTB’er, then im totally happy not being one, i’ll just stick to being someone who enjoys riding my MTB (when time permits).

Oh, and I feel blessed that I discovered road bikes last year after 15 years of rigidly sticking to the 26″ format. It has completely broadened my horizons.
For someone to rant about not opening ones mind to ‘new music’ (totally aside from the actual subject) and then bemoan people who open thier minds to other forms of cycling is just plain hypocritical

Totally agree with the dig at the retrobike geeks though.

yeah, was out earlier and they are all fine, even after the deluge over the weekend.

STS, could you give me the low down on the best places to head for a run in the Chilterns?

sounds great, im very tempted to give it a try as been meaning to try the chilterns for a while.

50 or 75km for me, but time permitting would be up for the 100.

    Fascists!

all bikes are cool, anything to do with bikes is cool, embrace the bike!

(besides, lycra feels kinda goood when you eventually give in to temptation)

    thanks for the info monkeyboy.
anyone interested in a group buy on 1l of oil?

did you catch the health warning on the oil change document?

”Stay warm and quiet, and seek professional medical advice if required. If breathing
stops, perform artificial respiration, and if breathing is difficult, provide the affected
    person with oxygen.”

    try this method:
take a step back, deep breath, and open your mind.

re-read the original post with said open mind

re-read your original posts, trying to take on board how your tone may be percieved

ponder why people may suggest your negativity is not warranted.

realise you may just have been said ‘cock’.

    move on.

Mine squealed for months whilst riding along and it drove me round the twist. Loosening the bolts, locking out the lever and nipping it up again fixed it permanently.

why did you ride like that for months without trying the tried and tested method?
in my experience it rarely (if ever) works perfectly. works ok, maybe, but usually not.
Sighting by eye is best method. If you get lucky with the old ‘loosy, brakey, tighty’ method then cool beanz to you.

I was told mine has had little use and externally it scrubs up like new, but hard to say how many miles its had put on it. So hopefully its nearly new and is just settling in..

Im going to fiddle with the cable length this weekend and try and get it running sweet, didnt have many issues with my 8sp so hoping this comes up trumps.

Incidently, whats your set up? Im running 32/20 on a s/s on-one frame, probably way outside recommended ratio but i want to see what its capable of.
whats the best ratio to use to get the most out of it off road?
