Actually I wore a rainbow coloured outfit and a big smile!

Dont get me wrong please, check what I actually commented on..
Of course the history of the docks is there to be absorbed, and of course there are nice areas, as per most cities.
in fact I rode home from IOW, through P’mouth and up hampshire back to sunny surrey last June and it was a glorious ride in stunning countryside.

Yes we ‘closed the seafront and the roads’ – this never stopped the cheering in any of the other cities/towns ive run in before?

The bands were great & there were of course some great cheering locals but in general, it were proper miserable.

Raised nearly £500 for Children With Cancer though!
I’m still going to do it again next year.
    Probably.

LOL – love the descriptions above.

Like I said though, what struck me most was the nonsense spouted by the commentry/pundits/guest runners ”oh its so great here, the locals are so nice, what an atmosphere!”
what a pack of lies! (in general, of course there are always diamonds)

My mate moved to southampton a few years ago and has been trying to convince me ever since to move down.
I havent the heart to tell him that every time I visit I count the minutes until I can dash back up the M3..

American Hotel in Leidseplien. Based in Southern part of city, good bars, big hotel.
I even met Bill Wyman in the hotel bar.

Casino very close if it takes your fancy, lots of canal trips etc. Anne Franks house about 15 min walk, Van Gogh museum 20 min walk max.

Im torn, I actually like tradition and appreciate the pomp and ceremony and the huge influx of tourism it brings. Plus the vast sums of money raised for charity and good causes by the royals.
Yet I cant argue with the logic behind the weirdness supporting an unchosen few..

I hate to agree with socialists though, so for now.. its extra bank holidays for me!
all socialists should be made to work on that day.

We should deffinately drop the national anthem though, its becoming very tedious and embarrassing at sporting events etc.

The term ‘whattaguy’ never seemed more apt.

When Clint croaks i’ll genuinely have to take time off work to mourn as i’ll be a blubbering wreck. No doubt ill croak first though, as he has an air of immortal about him.

    erm, what are you suggesting?..

Ive always found it interesting how certain deaths seem to carry more weight than others.
Im not for a moment suggesting that one persons life is worth more than another, but it has struck me just how much Simoncelli’s death has affected me, and others. Had another MotoGP rider been taken (apart from Rossi or perhaps on or two other champions) we would all have felt truly sorry for their family etc, but life would go on, certainly by the time Valencia comes around.
However, something about Simoncelli has warmed him to so many hearts. It’s not like he had numerous victories or even numerous races behind him. He just had ‘it’. A great personality and a talent that deserved to be fulfilled.
Instead we are left to wonder, and mourn a huge loss for sport in general. Im not even a big fan of MotoGP but Simoncelli was one of the only reasons that I would keep half an eye on the results.
I hope his father finds solace soon, and remains proud of his son’s achievements forever.
    God bless you Sic.

can I clean the inside of the tyre and simply patch it with a standard tube repair patch?

    slimjim78

you can also just use the rear brake and shift the rear mech, no prob.

I love both, the haters make strange claims dont they.

For economic reasons id stick permanently to gripshift (X0 are perfect X9 are great but the rubber grip is less comfy/ergo), but they only thing that holds me back is a lack of compatible & comfortable grips to go with the shifters.
Not a fan of slicing grips to fit

took the plunge, bought a stans notubes kit today and spent most of the bloody afternoon trying to get it set up.
Had difficulty getting my Bonty Mud’s to seal as they are a really loose fit, ended up at the petrol station cursing in the dark but eventually got it together.
Then realised I was using a tyre that had previously been split…
    bugger.
it leaked several times but with plenty of sloshing and patience it seems to have plugged after a brief test ride.
Im hitting the trails tomorrow, if the split lets go and I need to run with a tube, how do I go about repairing the tyre properly, a simple patch?

are we talking 20mph average across the board, including traffic lights, cornering, junctions etc?

I can happily maintain 21/22/23 mph for long periods but my average is 19mph roughly after taking into account the above.

also, how are you working out your average? gps, mapping, or (a potentially poorly calibrated) speedo/bike computer?

not having a go, just very keen to hear how others achieve their fitness.

    that bloke in Avatar

    I couldnt agree more

The actor most overated by the industry is Will Ferrell

    I couldnt agree less.

Id give a kidney to hit the boulevard with Ferrell for a night, he makes me larrf so hard.
And here’s a few comments from reviewers of his latest (serious) movie, Everything Must Go:
”Will Ferrell delivers a performance of implosive intensity that rings true in every detail.”
”If he isn’t careful, Will Ferrell is going to become a bona fide actor.”
”Ferrell is far more impressive in a straighter role … as he controls his own brand of zaniness and channels it as bittersweet irony and humour into ordinary events.”
”anchored by a fine performance from Ferrell in a role that required a surfeit of subtleties.”
”Ferrell steps more fully and confidently into dramatic terrain”

Destined! maybe, but died before he achieved them so being destined doesn’t count. Not seen brokeback, but his joker was a mess and only a claimed because of his death. He has been in films I have enjoyed, but nothing special about his performances, his parts could have been played by many actors to the same standard.

watch brokeback then, IWGAFATS its an amazing performance.
Joker was a great take, eratic and unpredictable, totally insane yet somehow likeable.
He had produced numerous excellent performances in a short space of time, hence his destiny was to become a great..
    Just my opinion.

How many calories do you think you are actually needing to replace after 20 miles??!

Well a rough average for an average person riding at a sustained pace of around 18mph is a consumption of 65 calories per mile.

    20×65= 1300cal.

Therefore, if you arent a big eater in general and tend to get by on around 1500-2000cal per day, you are going to be pushing your bonk threshold. Particulalry if unused to such activity.

    Jim Carey

    Enough said!

Isnt he suppossed to over act?

He does a fairly good job in the few sensible roles he’s taken on.

So Bens not in because of 1 scene..

    Well then…

    I’m annoyed.

    “stomp”

I actually find him very likeable but realise that many disagree. You have to admit it was a great scene! :D

Oh, and he was great in Along came Polly – top underated movie that you can ‘watch with a chic and actually both enjoy’.

I will add Heath Ledger, propelled into the category of “best actor of his generation” not because of his work, but because of his death.

nonsense. he was destined for great things.
his performances across the board were great and his characters were all completely individual. Joker and gay cowboy in particular.

Played a good(?) junky in that Brit Flick too.

I find Ben Stiller hugely annoying..

    Can I add him too..?

No, because the nut sack scene in Something About Mary is cinematic genius.

However, you may indeed add Adam Sandler! arrrgh!!!!

did someone actually suggest Stiltskin? dear god..

    Depends on the context really.
Sabbath have always been known to be heavy gods to anyone whom cares about such genre’s, yet my mum certainly wouldnt rate them..

Id go with The Flaming Lips, yet ive been to gigs with 10,000+ watching them in the UK. they certainly deserve more adolation though.

Faith No More too. Loved by many, but not nearly enough.

surely Cage plays on it though? he’s playing larger than life wierdo hammy characters and his roles have evolved in such a way.

weird how I agree with most of the above mentioned actors (except Gervais who’s God), yet I still find all of them watchable!

Tom Hanks for me, totally over rated, but still find him bearable.

oh, and Halle Berry, an oscar, really?!

Denzel – something about him just makes me want to punch him in the face.

controvertial one – you gotta love him, but is big Jack not an overactor?

Im told that you have to imagine being repressed and persecuted and tortured for a lifetime before you can understand why the reactions are always so barbaric.

Yeah, I agree, Jaggers hardly conventional but as per Daltrey, its the right sound for the band.
Daltrey does hit some bum notes though…and have you heard him these days? oooch…
    Top top fella though

chapaking – chill Winston. its a rock’n’roll love in here. youz two is bringing the beef.

its all nice in here still!
just a few that need to be convinced is all..

as for Who comments above, totally agree about the album filler, although you missed

    ‘Cant Explain’

    from your song list!

    Won’t Get Fooled Again
    Baba O’Riley

    are totally amazing.

Im also a big fan of thier ‘comeback’ single Real Good Looking Boy, although alot of Who fans dont seem to like it.
I find it very touching, and although its mainly refering to Elvis, I find it speaks about the love between father & son…brings a tear when I hear the last verse…

The Who still piss over the Beatles and Stones for me though

‘cept Roger cant sing, and the music died along with Moony.

Some legendary tracks for sure, but pisses all over? not sure..
