100%, heard One Armed Scissor for the first time about three years ago and immediately punched myself in the face for not having heard it years sooner.

It took me a long time to think much of Faith No More’s King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime. It was their follow-up to Angel Dust and followed the sacking of their guitarist so was always going to have a hard time being accepted when it was released.

    totally with you.
I didnt realise just how good the album was till about 5 years later. same goes for Album of the Year.

use a track pimp and MTFU.

30 mins of swearing and sweating again with my track pump this evening has convinced me its time to get real. Besides, real men covet tools.

I’d also be keen on spraying etc as mentioned above, is it best to avoid the ‘in-line oil’ ones? whats the difference?

the seat stay/TP/DT junction looks great.

most roadie lovers are far too obsessed with ‘italian style’, whatever that is.
PX is like a smack in the face to the white lycra boys.

I reckon Darth Vader would ride an N2.

Im very tempted to do the same to a cannondale optimo frame I have, so will be keen to see other suggestions on this thread.

I have heard horror stories of how certain chemicals (potentially nitromors) have a damaging impact on the alu, potentially leading to premature failure etc.
Also, paint/laquer etc struggles to stick to a polished frame as it needs a keyed surface.
Also, that chemical dips and shot/sand blasting is bad for the alu.

Its hard to know what is true/rumour/nonsense!

    wow, I love them.

I like that they do things differently at on-one/PX.

If everyone rode a PX road bike then im sure you’d like these new ones just as much

Well ive been on Bonty Mud-X’s for the last 3 rides over there and theyve given me tons of extra grip of the gravely/sandy climbs

Its much drier on higher ground (obviously) over toward Surrey Hill/Labyrinth, gets much stickier over by Stickler etc.

only real option at on-one is a Whippet with full SLX, but only available in white and with a fairly average fork.

otherwise they are pushing them out at £1400 to £1500 these days 8O

I dont think an Inbred woul be light enough.

he’s going to look at the Boardman FS after work.
I think he’s more keen on a hard tail though, lighter the better

    slimjim78

He’s happy to go hard tail, but FS is also an option.

I’ll have a look at the Boardman for him, and the CRC sale.

I should have mentioned that he knows very little about brands/models.

ok, test driven the Polo, lovely looking car, with lovely spec. But… fairly perched driving position (for a taller chap) even compared to other Polo’s test driven.
And gearbox linkage felt a bit sloppy. Its was probably fine 9of course the dealer said they are all like that) but having driven my Mrs Audi A2 over it felt worlds apart.

So..back to the E30. I reckon the future is boxy with super low mileage

no quite, my point was shorter & flatter rides are fine on a road SS.

My commute averages 20mph on one gear and it barely ever feels dull.
Certainly there are occasions where you would like to drop a gear but in the end you just learn to spin faster.

If you have a very hilly or very long commute, then gears would certainly feel more comfortable and probably be more efficient.

SS would still feel more epic.

    /\ what he said.

Ive given up on SRAM BB’s, the Hope has been flawless since fitting it and spins wonderfully.

I finally got the SS bug this year and have added a SS MTB and Road bike to my stable.
For the last 6 months I dont think ive ridden a geared bike once.

My commute to work, although reasonably flat, is 13 miles each way and ive loved every single sped mile.
I honestly cant see the point of gears for shorter journeys now.

The feeling of beating a hill that looked daunting with only one gear far outweighs the pain of getting up it!.
Plus my fitness has gone to a new level whereby all of my riding partners can no longer keep up with me off road, especially uphill!

If you have naturally strong legs you will not regret keeping SS. The (lack of) upkeep through winter is such a big plus too.

If you have weedy legs, you probably wont enjoy it. (haters must fit into this category).

I honestly never thought SS would be for me having dabbled a few years ago and hating it. My current SS MTB was bought almost by accident I gave it a fair crack and boy am I glad.
Once your riding technique has altered to suit, its the shizzle.

I should add that geared bikes still very much have a place in my collection. Long road rides, very hilly off roads etc. Whats nice is they stay in good shape for longer as they get less abuse.

    Puma? neh.

    Black / Red / Silver / 5dr / 3dr?

3 door silver. Would go for a 5 door as I think they still look fine but this one has super low mileage and one owner etc etc.

Make sure the gearbox is not ready to go bang

yes the gearbox track record isnt great and does worry me slightly. Not sure what to check for other than strange/louder than normal noises in neutral, and jumping out of gears.
