A consensus would appear to be that he is staging this admission of guilt for his own narcissistic aims. That he is trying to control his own fate perhaps?

There does seem to me a disparity at times between his body language and his spoken responses where they seem to be rather in-congruent to real remorse.

How much is he protecting the bigwigs?? Thom Weisel? Amgen? Federal government? The pharmaceutical industry?

Fall guy! Who got too big, sold his soul to the devil (Thom Weisel and Amgen for drug testing) and his tendency towards narcissism taking him to believe that he was bigger and greater than all of them and believed his own hype!

    Just a theory!

Again, +1 Sputnik for the sentiment rather than a literal connection eh?!

swiss01 – very interesting… I see Amgen are also supporters of livestrong with their ‘corporate philanthropy’. Does make me wonder if LA is to be the fall guy here? Thom weisel is clearly very well connected. Mebbe LA isn’t as clever as he likes to make out?

As if life isn’t complicated enough already, some people just have to find out how much more complicated they can make it for themselves.

My guess is that he is on that learning curve and it will all come out at some point by way of an un-deleted text or email or faceache faux pas.

On the whole I would suggest you stay out of it, apart from subtly suggesting to him as a ‘friend’ that if he hasn’t done so already, he had better get an exit strategy prepared. He will need it.

Not knowing the size of your roof/walls/chimney etc, but that sounds like remarkable value for money for that amount of labour intensive work. Not to mention the materials for tile hanging, cleaning up chimney bricks to re-lay, lead trays (have you seen the price??!!!),paint stripping, rendering….

    Well done

LA is a narcissist. End of. His motivation for this interview is purely driven by his own ambitions. Namely…. politics. At the very least, he wants to be Governor of Texas and lets face it, the USA electorate will have short memories and rose coloured specs in 15 years time.

After that stint, it’s mere bagatelle to run for the top job.

Afterall, he is eminently qualified, what with sewer rat morals…

Although a very reasonable amount of money will always get you anything, anywhere. Legally too.

IIRC, there are immigration agencies in most of their cities. Pay them their required fees and they will process your application. To support your application, as a bricklayer/tradesman, with an offer of work, you will more than likely have to prove that you can support yourself and dependants for at least 1 year financially. If self-employed, it used to be at least 2 years and with a business plan and funding to support the business aswell.

It’s a big country, go on holiday and head into the backcountry… May I suggest somewhere like New Denver or Kaslo in BC… No one looks there :D

Streamed live??? I dont think so!

The ‘live’ bit refers to it being simultaneously broadcasted online at the same time as it being shown on OWN TV channel.

It’s to be filmed at his Austin, Texas home and the network have refused to disclose when it is being filmed.

Plenty of opportunity for preparing appropriate responses to appropriately searching questions then….

It’ll be wet for sure!! At least the mud is so wet now it wont stick to you or your bike

Chalk will be slippy – to say the least – however the trails are easy to find.

Go to the main car park (on southbound side of A3, however access from northbound carriageway is easy and via an underpass)and park up.

Join the multi-use trail that runs above the car park and in the same direction that you entered the car park. After 300metres or so, the start of the red trail becomes obvious with signage and head left and up.

    Oh, and enjoy!! :-)

Hillclimbing – of the motorcar/bike variety. Excellent spectator sport especially at ‘club’ level with everything from Mini’s, 205’s escort Mk 1’s & 2’s, caterhams, ginetta’s to single seater open wheeled jedi’s, pilbeams, march’s etc etc.

I also think a weather channel would work well here too…

Points noted re security and thanks for heads up with sophos.

I wouldn’t know where to start with a self-build and the ensuing knowing what bits of HW would work with other bits of HW from different manufacturers etc etc. I like your approach of more for less but seriously… where and how I start on that road??!

What is Java? What does it do and why is it there if it needs to be disabled? See my point?

ATM, probably entry level iMAC 21.5″ 2.7ghz methinks, with the 2tb time capsule for wireless doo-dah and back up. Couple that with an ipad for mobility of internet, choons and entertainment and an airport express installed in the houseboat in Norfolk and I think I’m kinda covered…. :?

I forgot to mention compatibility issues…. IME, windows HW and SW compatibility is pure chance as to whether they get along…. recent graphics card replacement being a prime example and again I’m forced to go down a ridiculous scenario of having to download graphics driver updates on a monthly basis, to then manually uninstall the existing driver and manually install the update… WTF is that all about??!!!

Possibly because I’m not tech literate enough to sort it any other way? Or because I’m dealing with a new bit of graphics HW in a 7yr old box?

@ captainslow – thanks for your comments chap. See where you’re coming from too. Design ethos is not a consideration, however I do like the prospect of losing the birdsnest of cables. Wireless capability with music streaming at home and at second home also seems to make sense in a way.

My main motive is that I’m led to believe the Mac is more robust and secure than PC – however (and this is a big ‘however’), our current set-up is embarrassingly low tech – 7yr old HP desktop running Vista with just 1gb RAM and a 10yr old HP XP laptop…. so quite frankly, I daresay that a PC World ‘special’ would easily outperform what we use at the mo.

My other ‘gripe’ is the daily AVG Free scan seizes the desktop and Firefox consumes so much memory and Adobe Flash plug-in crashes every time embedded video is played – IE tab helps, but it’s a faff. Weekly windows updates and plug in updates and application updates to woirk with the windows updates just appear too sticking plaster like and make me think that nothing is tested before it’s issued as a fix.

I just want something that works and will stay working…. not too unreasonable? I’m sure I could build/spec a PC to work robustly, but I dont want to have to ‘tinker’ with it to maintain it. Fit and forget as it were.

    Comments welcomed!

I’m certainly err-ing towards the Flip… Thanks for the heads up on that one bigG… loving the ease of use/simplicity thing and from reviews read so far they are certainly plug and play with the Mac…. but then that’s why I’m jumping to Mac…

Limited experience to date with the X-Trail here, having bought a diesel 2.2 07 model (mk1 I guess) a couple of weeks ago and covered about 1000 miles so far.

I like it. But I would say that.

Easy to drive, engine has good torque and the 4WD has worked well when needed. It’s pulled a semi-loaded 8×4 twin axle mini-digger type trailer with ease. Very smooth at motorway cruising and it really does handle more like a car rather than a boat.

I have the Columbia option, so no leather, but well equipped with sat nav, a/c, elec windows yadda yadda. The interior is ideal for me to double up as a mobile tool/workshop duties in the week with seats folded (big wide load area with no lip) and seats up at weekends for family stuff.

Given it’s design spec, it handles really well, not much body roll, steering has feedback and suspension seems to have been thought out well too.

The Renault diesel engine and 6-speed box are good – reports of dodgy dual-mass flywheels abound, but AFAIK, they were limited to 03/04 models but it could be anyone’s guess/luck of the draw on that one.

From my research, it boiled down to either the RAV4 or the X-Trail, but I needed reliable 4WD and towing capability and also didnt fancy the image I have of the RAV4 as a ‘hairdresser’s’ car.

The reason I didnt pursue the Honda was towing ability.

I’m sure both would be a good option. Hope this helps

Thank you people! Your comments re Go Pro limitations noted and yes, I did omit budget from my initial request.. Circa £300, so nothing too fancy or cheap, it will be used for ‘documenting’ family life, events and the usual home video times.

Loving the Flip Mino suggestion, thank you! Simplicity and ease of use rules! What is the difference between the Mino and the Ultra?

Yep, thanks guys. Wont be using the iPad for too much outdoor/days out video-ing due to it’s ergonomics.

The Apple site has just recommended the Go-Pro 3. So whatever format that is, it looks like the one to go for – which has an added benefit of course!! :D
