buy a 14″ but keep steerer and brake hoses a bit longer and then swap the kit to a 16″ if it turns out mtbing is not for her?

Exactly what I was thinking 😉

She just sat on my 17″ Five which has roughly the same ETT as a 16″ 456 and it is waaaaaaaay too long.

Go for a ride and DO NOT cover your brakes, only use them when you need to, then fingers back on the bars. Don’t try to ride fast, just smoothly, braking in the correct places etc. Do that a few times and I promise you it will make you quicker.

Edit: And learn to pump, then pump everything in sight.

Semen would be my worry. If you have ever slipped out into the garden (one moon-lit night) for a danger-w*** then I would say you are in deep trouble.

    Bit strange…

Have you ever been down a trail and been 100% concentrating?

Yes I have, I’m also not blind or deaf, and quite capable of telling if someone is behind me or not.

If they are slower they should move out the way, its polite and common sense.

3 (or more) different exercises done straight after each other. Rest for 60 secs then repeat.

So this morning because the pool was chocker…

    I did..

    3 sets of

    10 chin-ups
    30 press-ups feet on bench
    30 crunches
    15 each side sideways crunches.
    Rest for 60secs
    Repeat

Thats not a super set, thats a circuit.

A super set is done with the same muscle group, like bench press followed immediately by flys, and is usually no more that 2 exercises together.

the answer is in the picture but it’s not leg presses…

I would say too much, by quite a lot. You should have at least two rest days per week where you are doing nothing. More is definitely not better when it comes to exercising.

If you are pretty serious about wights, have a read through this site[/url] and maybe start following one if his training programs which include cardio too.

There is no need to do all them sit ups either. For one sit ups are nowhere near as good as crunches, and two if you think doing them will help the fat loss around your waist, think again.

You’re right you do have to have 10% BF or less before carb cycling, in which case use his other techniques till you get to that stage.

Firstly that’s BS. You just build up to it.
Secondly. It’s not about not eating carbs. It’s about training when your stomach is rumbling first thing in the morning.
Fifthly. Taking protein supplements when you want to lose weight is stoopid. Get your calories from proper food.

Firstly, it sounds like he is doing quite a lot of exercise already, so over reaching is quite possible.

Secondly there is no evidence training on an empty stomach first thing in the morning actually makes you lose fat any quicker.

Thirdly, if he is doing weights there is nothing at all wrong with a higher protein diet, or getting it from a good quality protein shake.

OP, if you are doing more weights there is every chance you are putting on muscle at the same time as losing fat so your scale weight will stay roughly the same. The only definitive way to measure it is by using skin fold calipers. The more muscle you have, the more fat you will burn so keep it up.

For losing the last bit of fat (if it is that) try carb cycling. Have a read about it, its what bodybuilders do to get their body fat as low as 3%, I am pretty sure it will help you but you have to be very strict with your diet.

Have a read of these links, there is plenty more on his site about fat loss, fitness, and bodybuilding, and is probably the best of its kind on the net.

I’m on the look out for one for the Mrs (me really, just an excuse to buy one). My first “proper bike” was a 14″ 1995 Kona Lava Dome at the age of 12. I loved that thing.

Not that you are asking, or bothered, but, I have X2’s and my brother recently bought some XT’s. Since fitting them he has had nothing but trouble, almost every ride they stop working for one reason or another.

My X2’s on the other hand, not had one single issue.

Some people talk bollocks on here, you top the lot.

Where the **** do you get your information from?

Do me and him a favor and read about training when fatigued, then come back and give some decent advice.

You still have to make time to ride, I did it when my kids were little; you’re already shagged out from crap sleep, so you learn to ride while fatigued which is essentially what endurance is.

That is probably the worst thing you can do. Training when fatigued will either have little benefit, or push you into over training very rapidly.

Also endurance isn’t riding when you are fatigued, you train to ride for longer so you don’t get fatigued.

Run your saddle an inch lower that normal, save yourself half a kilo, £200, and a lot of hassle.

The carbon Yeti’s crack on the seat stay, and the Zesty’s bottom bracket shells fail. Win win situation.

We have had Orange (formally Wanadoo) broadband for about 7 years, never had a problem at all.

One time we said we were going to cancel for some reason (can’t remember why) and they gave us 6 months free, then £5 per month for 6 months after.

i’d say its all down to how you ride , i’ve owned an ex9 and currently have a five , if going up is your main priority go for the ex its a marginaly better climber but theres not much in .

when it comes to decending their not even comparable ,the ex is totaly outclassed , only a total wendy would claim the ex is more fun at a trail center .

    Exactly what I found too.

Ask yourself how much the spec difference (disregard the geo/suspension for a moment) will change your riding?

    It won’t at all.

Sp can hold more tension due to the absence of the j bend – the weakest part, so they can be built stronger and stiffer.

Not only that you get some spare spokes when you buy hoops, and lets be honest, how often do you break a spoke.
