    Flow = DH – AM

Crest = Trail – XC racing

    Something like that.

books depend on whether you learn visually

Does that mean some people find it hard to take in what they have read and benefit more from being shown how its done?

They weigh as much as the aluminium Havens, might as well save yourself £30 and get them in that case.

Nowhere has any in stock unless 18bikes is the only place in Europe because other than them I have tried everywhere.

From red trails with the odd black at Glentress and other trail cntres to wandering around the scenery. I wear a helmet at trail centres but not when just wondering around but I have never had a hard impact on my head – one decent one on an overhanging branch that I might have missed without a helmet.

Only been riding like a fairy for 40 years

    Thats probably why then.

TJ – I thought you would have posted a vid by now of my road headbutting challenge. Hurry up, I could do with a laugh.

TJ – why haven’t you taken up my headbutting the road with then without a helmet challenge yet?

The risk is similar to many activities people consider safe, such as walking.

LOL You think walking is as dangerous as riding a bike on the road, do be serious!

    Thats your problem

If anyone is stupid enough to think wearing a helmet is a bad idea, go outside on and headbutt the road as hard as you can, then do it again with a helmet on.

My brother had a car pull out in front of him on his road bike, he hit it, flew over the bonnet and landed on his head. He wouldn’t be here or would be in a bad way if he hadn’t been wearing a helmet.

If you search the forum there’s plenty of blokes @5’10” ride 16″

I don’t think you will, if you do they are riding the wrong size.

I would say a 14″ long, but you would be much better off going to an Orange dealer and trying one, or at least asking them before you part with your cash.

Let’s just pretend for a minute that you are not a TROLL and are asking a serious question. Riding flat pedals doesn’t teach you how to ride properly, they teach you where to place your feet when riding flat pedals. Don’t DMR vaults cost £89.99? May I suggest that if you want to “LEARN” how to ride properly you keep the SPDs and spend the money on a days course with a reputable MTB instructor who will teach you how to ride properly on the kit you have?

    Amen

I can get a shimano chain for £17, would paying nearly double that be worth it, i don’t think so.

If you want decent shifting and it to last longer then yeah.

I’m thinking of buying a Heckler frame. Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between 2009+2011 models? Are the geometries the same? TIA

Redesigned swingarms because the older ones used to crack and internally strengthened instead of a gusset which made it a bit lighter I think.

I would go for Reba’s too. I wasnt a fan of my 2010 32’s, damping wasn’t too good and they generally felt wrong no matter how they were set up.

So when the Trek breaks after 2 years, and they won’t even do a warranty replacement, how silly will he feel?

That won’t happen, Trek warranty is very good, speaking from experience.

Personally I’d go for a set of RF Deus XC, far better finish than the Shimano cranks

    Your joking right?

It is a positive experience, from a negative experience, but I wouldn’t lose any sleep about loyalty to a huge private equity firm.

Thats probably what he was thinking when they offered him the cash 😉

I bet you will notice a big difference over your current bike. Carbon road bikes are generally much nicer to ride than aluminium.

If that was me I would get SLX shifters and an XT rear mech. I had an SLX rear mech recently and it flopped around everywhere like it had no spring. Swapped to XT and its MUCH better.

I love how people try and turn a positive experience into something negative. Nice try but you all failed miserably (except van cough cough)

firstly, never heard of a cash refund being offered in such a situation before so halfords were either mad or generous in offering it, and second as avdave is possibly suggesting, I might have considered getting another (non Boardman) bike through Halfords given the exemplary service they provided him (out of confidence in their support as much as any moralistic sense of loyalty).

The fact your mate took the money and ran shows how little customer service is sometimes valued, and is interesting to read in the context of various recent threads on here (Hope, Orange and Nicolai all had their varying degrees of support and the effect that has on brand loyalty debated).

He already owned and broke the best bike they do, why would he want to buy a cheaper one when he can buy something else? Its not got anything to do with loyalty, more lack of choice. I’m sure if they stocked Trek he wouldn’t have hesitated to buy his EX8 off them.

They had to warranty it no matter what, whether it had been just a frame or a whole bike. In this case they also offered him a full refund so he took it. It would be slightly strange getting a refund and buying another when they just offered him a replacement. Just because he got decent service doesn’t mean he should forever own a Boardman.

    I don’t see anything cheap.
