Is there any reason why you cant use the negative air pressure to reduce the travel / ride height on 150mm Revs?

Yeah, thats not what its for.

I hope so too. That shouldn’t have left the factory, let alone the bike shop.

I take it back mate, yours isn’t a Friday afternoon bike, they must have welded yours on April the 1st.

SB66 sounds damn good actually, they aslo do a carbon version and it has a perfect ETT length for me……hmmmmmm.

    ASR5 sounds good also.

    Hi All
I am new to the forum, so hello to all!! I got into single track MTB about two years ago, and ride mainly SE Kent and North Downs, plus a few holidays including Forest of Dean, Cannock (awsomme), and Sminley.

I bought my first full susser about a year and ahalf ago (GHOST ASX 4900) which is now for sale as im ready to upgrade.

The two bikes im looking at are the Ghost AMR (logical step up), or the Giant Trance. I like the Trek EX8 too but most of the guys I ride with have an EX and id like to have something different. Any advise is very much appretiated.

    Thanks

    Steve Elliots mate Chris?

I’d be taking it back and getting them to sort it out myself, that is shocking.

Nice bikes but that’s one thing I definitely don’t want.

Already seen that Chadders, still not too keen TBH.

No need to “custom build”. Trek Remedy 9.9 is the ultimate trail bike.

I have all the parts and there is no way I would pay 3k for a Trek frame

Aren’t they about a 67/68 degree head angle? imo that’s about spot on, my Bullit has that and it feels just right for anything I’ve ridden so far. Any slacker and it’d feel like a barge.

    Yeah basically.

Feel livelier than my Five on the single track which is what I want, thats why I was thinking Blur LTc.

What do/don’t you like about the Five.

I like the Five, it rides well, just becoming a bit common thats all.

Plus my brother just bought one, which makes it extra less special (or him more special)

I fancy something different, something in the superbike category.

Not sure how people get the weight down so much

Just weighed mine, 31 lb. Medium anodized aluminium.

That will be because yours is a Blur LT, not a Blur LT Carbon 😉

    I own a Five.

The Tracer is out the window, I don’t need that much travel or weight to carry round.

Blur LTc is a possibility, so is the TRc.

Not demoed either yet. Need some more bikes to add to the list first.

My last Five’s welds were like that. This one seems to be pretty damn good TBH, must have been a midweek bike and not a last minute Friday afternoon job.

Theres nothing steep round my way so it I don’t need a slack bike, tends to take the fun out of it slightly anyway. I’m looking for something for tight twisty singletrack, and the odd weekend away to somewhere with hills, and all day epics.

Yeah, whatever you lot currently own 😆

Maybe I should have said your dream trail bike, or not.

Ahhh, it has to be full suspension, and money no object. I kind of missed out these important details.

    skywalker

Hmmm, Blur TRC is slightly slacker and longer, maybe a better option.

Might as well start with a lighter frame

What length stems are other people running? I’m 5′ 10″ and running the original 90mm stem, I reckon the top tube feels about 1″ or so short. Wishing I’d gone for large or could get a lay back dropper seat post.

At 5’10” I would have definitely got a large if I were you. The top tubes are roughly an inch shorter than most other bikes.

Agree that it doesnt climb well (hindered by my cr@p skills no doubt), front tends to lift on steep climbs and corners.

Do you have any rise on your stem, high rise bars, loads of headset spacers under the stem?

Not sure how people get the weight down so much. Mine is just under 30lb with air Revs, x9, air shock, Joplin and hope hopes. But 30lb isnt heavy unless you obsess about that sort of stuff.

TBH I can’t see how yours all weigh so much, like I said my Five frame is a pound heavier and my bike is lighter than most here.

I’m not sure what to think now 😐

Skidsareforkids, nice looking bike is that. You are roughly my height, how much standover you got?

Tbh the only real reason I don’t own one myself is cos I don’t want his & her matching bikes.

    😆 I know the feeling

Thanks giddyp and CaptainMainwaring, very helpful.

Its not meant to be a feather weight, but its just incredibly stiff

Thats one of the things that appeals to me, its light-ish, but apparently incredibly strong.

They are the graphics/stickers they used on 1994-95 frames. Very nice.

I shut my thumb (well the door closer did) in the hinge side of an hour fire door at school and had to have this done at the hospital. They used a tiny blow torch though. When it burnt through the blood actually squirted up on the ceiling.

    Thanks Neil.

Sounds like a test ride is in order. What kit you got on it for it to weigh that much? My Five Pro is about that weight and the frame is over lbs heavier.

What made you change your mind Jedi? Bottlerocket is a completely different bike.

Had one for about 9mts took it abroad with me etc and used it as my only bike for a short period of time – so think I got to know it well.

    I’m 5 11 and rode a large with a 60mm stem
Wasn’t too light in reality 30lbs with air shock and 32 ishwith coil
Ran it with 150mm forks all the time

IMO not worth the money, head angle too steep for an AM bike, TT too short for a XC bike. My alpine 160 descends better and climbs better. Vpp2 isn’t the plushest of suspension designs either.

Other than all that it was a pleasant bike!

Did you have the aluminium version? This one weighs 26.74 lbs with 36’s and a coil shock.

I think I will be a large as I am 5’11”, seems right from the charts and my current bike is roughly the same dimensions.

B.A.Nana, isn’t that a Blur TRC in the photo?

Ahh I see, make that the same as an Orange Alpine then, which is pretty much the Orange equivalent of the Tazer anyway.

Just looked at the price of replacement G2 dropouts, roughly £130 a side, are they on drugs?

Edit: More like what drugs are they on.
