Have a set of launch Enduros in L/XL (I’m 5′ 11″ and medium/thin build), very comfortable, even on long rides and don’t slip….haven’t tested them out in terms of a ‘big off’ yet however

This and try to learn to pedal a little smoother / not bounce when you are climbing then just run D all the time.
Personally I prefer to just set-up my suspension for the part of the ride where I want it working well (the descent in my case) and then just ride it set the same way all the time. It may occasionally be a minor compromise but I don’t like to be thinking about whether I should adjust the suspension when I should be thinking about riding the bike, plus there’s the chance of forgetting to set it into descend mode and slightly spoiling the performance on the fun part of the ride

Thanks, I’ll give this a go first and see how i get on.

unfortunately I’ve only got the basic Fox evolution CTD 140 spec forks, so no extra only basic 3 way CTD knob on the top of the forks, as well as rebound compression on the bottom of the fork leg

I’ve tried leaving it in descend all the time, but found there is too much suspension movement (forks-wise mainly) when I’m climbing off road.

Spoke to Mojo regarding getting the rear shock upgraded and apparantly a Fox Float CTD BV can’t be upgraded, only a Float-x :-(

Anyone using a bell super on day long rides and less gnarr stuff? Are they hot/ cool/ light heavy etc…. .?

    It did fit really well.

I had a Bell Super (until a recent OTB incident, which split it down the side, after a heavy head impact…eek).

My 2p’s worth. Really well made helmet. Fitted me very well and proved it’s protection qualities in the OTB incident. However….it’s a very hot design, in hindsight far too hot for summer use for me.

I replaced it with a Bluegrass goldeneye helmet, which in comparison appears to give a similar coverage/potection and high-quality, but is very cool to wear when compared to the Bell Super.

The cooling ridges inside the helmet are far deeper on the Goldeneye, which is the main area of difference I think.

    Hope this helps.

Testicular de-gloving is always a cringeworthy one. Happens when you wear a 6-point harness in a race car and don’t do the crotch straps up tightly (and then have a crash/impact)

Warning… Don’t follow the link if you are just about to have dinner or sex.

    Thanks again guys.

Soobalias – the course was a couple of months ago with Stephen Hall at http://www.blackshawoutdoor.co.uk/mountainbikeskills.html it was a great course and he is a good, patient teacher with great communication skills as well. I benefited a lot from his tuition.

I’m thinking I need to go back to him, or see Ed, or both!

Thanks for the warm welcome and feedback guys, much appreciated.

I should have said in my first post (duhh, sorry) that I did do a one-day MTB skills course and found it a great help in all respects, skills and mental. I learnt a lot and improved as a result, although there was a lot (too much perhaps) to take in during a single day.

Post-course I’ve found it slow-going at times to develop specific skills. As you say, perhaps it’s time for another course/tuition session to build on what I have and I will take your recommendations.Thanks.

As an aside, It’s also hard to judge how much skills progress is reasonable to expect in the time I’ve had so far, given my limited experience and age. I sometimes have to remind myself that the riders i want to emulate have probably been riding for years…

JoeG – Thanks, I’ll buy the book

Scapegoat – will drop you an email, thanks
