I will be going from a large Rocket 26″ so interested in sizing as well. I would imagine a large on either would work for me. I am a shade over 6ft and when tested the 27.5 rocket pre long shot found not a lot of difference but large worked better as easier to manuvure slightly.

Tested the pre long shot rocket the week before the new one came out. Not sure how different the new one would feel from the one I tested.

Will get to cwm carn and test out the bird I think before going any further.

Bird seems to get a little more for your money but the Cotic rode so well when I tested it!

My metrics are both 26 and 27.5 comparable, 36mm and have high and low speed compression and rebound. Worth a left field thought if forks were your next step. As they say…transformed the ride blah blah..!

Just received some offset bushings and will be installing tomorrow so will let you know. Mine is currently in this flavour:

    Large frame black

    Rp2 shock

    X fusion metric 160mm forks

    RSP carbon bars 780mm

Renthal Duo stem 10° rise and 50mm

    KS DX 175mm seat post

Stans flow mk3 rims on hope pro 2 hubs with on one chunky monkey and smorgasbord tyres

Hope m4 evo brakes 203/180mm rotors

    M8000 xt 1x drivetrains

    Raceface turbine cranks

    Mallet dh pedals

    Hope headset

    Charge spoon saddle

I have mucked around with many components on it since I’ve had it and the biggest difference was the forks. So much better in rough stuff pointing downhill. Had 150mm revs on before.

I went from a 70mm stem to 50mm and again I find it better with wider bars for control.

Only thing i would now change is rear shock…. Oh and the frame as have ridden the 27.5 version and is very nice indeed!

My flow mk3 are great. Massive improvement on the hope enduros I had beforehand. Light and strong with great width that makes a noticeable difference on the tyre profiles.

We had Cotic down back at Haldon the week before the new Rocket came out. Amazing day and very knowledgeable. Swapped sizes and bikes. Loved the Rocket and still working out whether to go for the new one or the one I rode which was ace. The Helm forks are amazing to ride too.

Yeah always keep it in pretty good nick. I took off the clutch cover and it looks brand new inside.

I’ve been 5 or 6 times in the last 18 months. Only once did the uplift ever not be spot on and then only had to wait on one of the 11 runs I got in a day.

We always go during the week. I wonder if its the weekends that the uplift is more strained?

Some of my favourite combos for what its worth!

    Sixtapod and willy waver

Sixtapod, locomotion, come not dole, insufficient funds

Vicious valley, a470, pork belly, insufficient funds

Dai hard, pork belly, zut alors

    Terrys belly, popty ping, hotstepper

    Terrys belly

    Root manoeuvres (if dry)!

Vicious Valley, surfing bird, insufficient funds

Was lucky enough to ride with Sam all Saturday as a private demo with a couple of mates. Rode Haldon official and unofficial then over to cafeside for a bit.

Rocket, Rocket Max and Flare Max tested between us.

Sam was great as were all the bikes. Can’t recommend them enough. My lovely old 26inch Rocket is going to be upgraded soon as a result.

Without really pushing it all segments I usually ride were near to or beaten on comparison when on the test Rocket. Oh and the Cane Creek Helm forks are well good!

I had it on the right way after rechecking as there is only really one way it can go to get the hole in the cover to fit the hook end. Still pops out at the top when mechinism is in use though so have done the o ring thing. Thanks for the tip.

Might try a Lev alloy one if they are the same size?

I’ll try swapping the ferrule hook round first before superglue then :)

I’d buy one! What a world we live in where a bike gets its own short to advertise it!

I rode yesterday both in a morning. Quite similar in many ways but with the pedalhounds option I preferred cafel. That was a great section for flat out fun!

Not mega fit myself and there are a couple of initial diversions but the initial climb for both I found pretty tough second time round!

Yep. Logging but it isn’t actually crossing any of the red (wasnt last week anyway) despite it being closed. Not that I’d recommend to cross the barrier of course.

Ive not used a water bottle for 12 years and wouldn’t dream of it now. To have the ability to carry everything needed is a must for me including water a plenty. Camelback all the way for me.

Except Root Manoeuvres! We tried it last Friday and slide the majority of the way down on my are as the mud was ridiculous. It was funny but not really rideable unless you had swampthings on I reckon

I can second this clamp. Just got one and its rock solid with little pressure required. Tested last night and zero movement. Can’t believe I had been putting up with constantly moving o rings for years!

I’ve done 4 rooms in my house including ceilings!
It was a bit random an how easy to get off depended mainly on the quality of the plaster skim behind. Some rooms took days to do. I don’t envy you at all!
Steamer is the best thing I found to help.

    34F x 11-42R xt

Going from a 2×9 24/36 x 11-36 I have found this ideal and no problem at all on the ups. If anything I still spin out occasionally on easy downs

I’ve just put an one chunky monkey 2.4 on the front. Made by Maxxis apparently. Miles more grip than my Minion 2.35 and only £25. Bargain. Best front tyre I’ve had on my bike

Plumped for North wave Celcius Gtx2 in the end.
Not ridden themin anger yet but fit is good for my wide feet with room for winter socks. That was in a 46 which I am usually in all shoes so I don’t think sizing up is needed.

Concussed myself at Gawton a few months back. Only set in a few hours after as well. First time I’ve felt funny about getting back on a bike the next week as it was my head that took an injury rather than a bone etc. Didn’t sit with me very well for a few weeks. Fine now though. Getting back on as soon as possible and building back the confidence slowly.
