Got back on monday night after spending 4 days there….loved it.

My mrs used to live there so we have friends over there and head out a couple of times a year but this was my first time when the TT was on and its just mental. Plenty of stuff going on all day and after seeing the bikes on TV, seeing them going past you only 6ft away doing close to 190mph is awsome. The smell and the sound of these things can’t be experienced on the TV.

Only thing we found odd/felt wrong was on monday when one of the riders crashed on lap 2. We saw the helicopter come over the mountain and land in the hospital. Race was off for 1hr 15min, then started again. While the riders were on lap 1 they announced on the radio he had died. Just very strange that it all just carried on.

Other than that, cracking weekend and we’ll be back next year.

As above, zoo and night safari are great, even better if you get there at feeding time. The big cats are amazing when its chow time!!

Hawkers for food, cheap, fresh and very nice. Theres also so much choice that you’ll not struggle to find something you like.

The ‘floors of whores’ are there for all to see and quite a sight. Went with my sister and brother in law (they live there and are teachers) and i was telling everyone we’d been….not the done thing if your a teacher out there but great if your a tourist.

Sentosa if you want to chill out on a beach and watch the container ships go by – amazing to see the size of them and a nice place just to relax.

Raffles Hotel, home of the Singapore Sling and great for high tea. Nice food, eat nuts and throw the shells on the floor!! Felt wrong to do it at first but thats what you do. Head up the lift 100ish floors to the bar at the top. Great views of the city at sunset.

Loads to do and alot can be done for not much cash. Enjoy

Used them once and it was fine. Only took a couple of days for them to deliver so I was happy. They were also cheaper than everyone else so all ok by me.

Cheers Podge, i’ll give them a call and see what they say. Have looked up other threads and found that the bearings have lifetime replacement for original owner so will give them a bell too.

Call a skip company for a price, most will do cheaper rates for ‘clean’ brick rubble/concrete.

We had a 4tn skip of our local company (not the one i work for) for £70. Plenty of room in it. Where are you?

If yer that bothered about saving the earth think about REAL problems such as pollution!

I work for a waste company so already do my bit for the earth by recycling all the crap other people throw out. Therefore i can drive my car as fast and hard as i like and not have to worry about the planet!! I dont hug trees and think that nuclear power (despite Japan at the moment) is the future. Its not about that. I know that erosion happens both natural and man made, thats not the point. This whole thing is about a path thats say 3ft wide, people not riding on it and making it about 10ft wide plus. Its next to a nature reserve and if things keep going on as they are, the Peak police could just shut it.

Yes, you. With your ‘need’ to own a car. That’s your fault, that is.

Next time you see a child with asthma or respiratory problems, that’s also your fault.

    I don’t own a car,

Yeah Elfin, you tell them from your mud hut built in the middle of no where on your PC/laptop you’ve made from trees that have blown over (don’t want to have to cut one down) and stones that have been washed onto the shore by waves over hundreds of years, powered by your own mini wind turbine or human powered battery. What it must be like to be able to say i’ll ride my bike where i like, make my own paths and sod the countryside, i don’t own a car so i’ll get my moneys worth by possibly screwing up access to land for others by my selfish actions.

    fantastic cathedral

Hope they feel guilty for having such a nice cathedral, think of all the carbon dioxide the builders exhaled while building it. No wonder the temperature of the planet has increased over the years sticking up buildings like that!!

Grow up. We have evolved and are now in a position where we should try and look after what we have so that it’ll last just that little bit longer. I’d like to think my kids will be able to ride tha paths i have rather than just showing them photos.

    House needs the following: –

Rewire, new boiler and bits of heating, 4 new windows and a door, new bathroom and a new kitchen. On top of that will be carpets, paint bla bla bla…

House is on at £150k in its current state but when done would be worth £180k (thats what others have gone for in the last couple of months) Have £20k deposit. Looking to offer a good chunk less than that. Just wondered if it was possible to borrow an extra £5k on the mortgage to get a couple of bits done.

It would be in both names so i guessed stamp duty would apply.

Just thought i’d put the question out to the STW clan.

    Thanks for your help.

Used to have a Transit Connect and we got 5 bikes in top to tail with the wheels in. Just used bungee cords to keep them in place. Van didn’t have a bulk head either.

Same as aP, most sites we go on don’t allow them and we’ve now stopped issuing them to our staff. Lace ups for all our lads now.

If you do get some, dont go cheap as the backs will sag, crack and split.

Have flown both Sing Air and Virgin (my sister lives in Singapore) and i would go for Sing Air every time.

Can’t do enough for you, service is great and was direct which is a big bonus.

Comb it with a hack saw blade. Our dogs malts all the time and started combing him with a blade. It drags all the fluff and any loose hair out very easily. Bath on a regular basis and then give it a comb.

Other than that, just live with the hair or bullet both!!

We went with them a couple of years ago. They charged extra on the way out but on the way back from Spain, they just took them through no problem, didn’t even weigh them.

I like mine, fits my head better than anything else i tried. Having a big head, my head fits in it rather than perching a helmet on top of my head. Lots of protection and quite tough.

Can be a little hot in summer but i think all helmets make me feel that way. I like it.

Just got an Xbox with the Kinect and its ace. Total hands free gaming. Might only be sports and a few other at the moment (for Kinect) but its cracking after a few drinks with friends (rather than having to hand a controller round).

New Xbox’s have wi-fi built in so no need to buy extra dongle, just turn it on and off you go.

    And

The £30 annual fee to play online only really matters if your about 12 years old and dont have a job

agree 100% and some games even give you 1 month gold free.

Thanks all, we’ve loads of different “cuts” (thats the word i was looking for) so will be able to have a few different bits. Never had it before so didn’t know whether to cook like other meat or not.
Have had veal before and loved that so fingers crossed with this.

Think you’ll have problems trying to find that out. Called into our post office yesterday to pick up the post. I am expecting 6+ packages, couple even from before the snow. I was told at the local post office that they had several cages of packages to get through there, but in Sheffield, there were 1000’s of packages waiting to be delivered to our post office (Barnsley). The posties in sheffield wouldn’t bring the cages over, the Barnsley posties were only getting over when they could to pick them up.

Looks like blockages at all levels so i think we’ll all just have to wait and see.

Get a new strip of strong fabric thats wide enough for the d-ring. We got some velcro from the local market the other week and they had nylon strap stuff (similar to velcro strip but without the fluff or spikes), take both to local cobler and let him sew them up.

Ours repaired my Specialized Comps when the mesh split behind the rubber/leather bits. He managed to sew them back together with some thick/strong thread. Would of thought they’d be able to sew them on top. £10 fix tops.

oops … but why would you go near the the sea in Feb?

Mrs skip prefers the sea to hills in terms of views.

Thanks for all the ideas, found some nice cottages in Kippford, thanks hels. Still looking all over at the moment tho so thanks again.

£20 on some Wahl clippers 10 years ago and the same ones are still going strong today.

Either a 1 or 0 every 2 weeks. Mrs Skip like a bit of stubble too (rather than me looking like a 10 year old) so even do my chin with it.

Find the problem and get it sorted. We had a problem with our down stairs sockets tripping off and turning all the electric off. Tried all sorts of things to try and sort it out/narrow down what it could be. Had a sparky in today and he found out what it was……took him 2 1/5 hours to find it mind.

Sort out your damp first and then you shouldn’t have a problem with the other. Don’t just try and hide/live round the problem like we did.

Yes i went to Sunderland Uni from 94-97. I did Environmental Engineering and currently work for a waste disposal company. As above i made some really good friends, some i’m still in touch with while i lost touch with some straight after.

Drank alot, lots of sport but also worked hard, our course had the 2nd longest hours of the whole uni, only civil engineering was longer. Made me independant, got my head round money (worked through hols to get money together for term time) and ended my 3 years about £2k in debt.

Didn’t use my degree for my first couple of jobs but now do use bits of uni work. On the whole i’m glad i went. If our kids want to go (not got any but just about to start trying) i’ll support them all i can.

My mum had printcrete laid approx. 2 years ago. They lay it and then cut expansion gaps into it after to allow for expansion (funily enough) and a bit of movement.

My mums now needs relaying as the top layer that they pattern is very thin and falling apart. I think you also have to be careful about using salt/grit in winter. Thats what did my mums drive in but as no warnings about using it were given they’ll stand on to it. I have seen that some give warnings on their website/quotes.

Like Hora i have 2 British ones, a well worn and a new one. Good for the winter or when its very sh1tty. Had pit vents put in by local sewing lady for a few quid and now its great. Not to hot but still keeps the crap out.

Other good thing with them is they do have a big hood, great for putting up over your helmet when its driving wind and rain. For the money they are cracking jackets and if you fall off, its only a few quid to replace.

I replaced a pair of normal QR Floats with Solo Air Sektor RL’s with 20mm maxle lite. Way better front end now. Got them of Loco. He strips them down beore sending them to check their all ok first and then i asked him to drop the travel a bit too. Front end tracks very nicely now. Its plush.

Maxle lite takes a bit longer to use when compared to normal maxle but its a solid front end.

I like them and for the money they’re great.

Thanks again. Will try all these when i get in tonight.
Oven is gas so no problem there. Hadn’t thought the MCB might be faulty. The boiler is a new one and thats clicking on and off fine. My thought is the fridge or the freezer. Both are old and could do with being replaced. Be nice to tie it down to one of them.

Will check as many as i can tonight and fingers crossed will be sorted tomorrow.

    Thanks for the ideas.

Yes i can turn the different circuits on via the consumer unit.

It is the MCB for the down stairs sockets thats tripping. Think i’m just going to have to turn everything off on that circuit and try each thing one by one. I’ll pop the fridge on the upstairs circuit to see if that keeps working or if it makes that trip.

    Thanks again
