My work had been very spruce of cyclists and we’ve got a great cycle users group who have had some great dialog worn the bosses and made things happen.”

Good for you, wish mine did.

“Out of the blue one of the desk jockies had suddenly decided we all need to wear hi viz all the time. Currently it is mandatory in low light conditions only as a sensible compromise.”

We wear them all the time when i’m at work, lots of trucks and machines about. I don’t have to wear one at home so i’d be a bit upset if i was being told i had to wear one there. Don’t see how they can make you.

“We would like to keep it how it is. Are there any good arguments for/against? I feel making it mandatory would deter some users, so be an overall negative. “

Would wearing one all the time be so bad? How would it be overall negative?

The OP hasn’t even said if its anything to do with cycling? He just said the have a good cycling group at work. Are work just making them wear one all the time?

OP needs to get back with more details. As Jamie said above, hi-vis bomb has just gone off and OP has run for cover watching everyone fight over a question that doesn’t even exist.

Rooley, just like that but it was a different company. I think the look better with these roofs on.

Our conservatory comes off the kitchen (i know it shouldn’t but its been on there 10yrs and we bought the house last year) so we don’t really use it. We’re going to change to kitchen and dining room round so it will work better and become a more used space.

We had a letter the other day from a window/conservatory company that have started fitting solid roofs with windows in. Roofs are made of plastic but look like slate or pan tile. Whole thing is insulated and you have a choice of ceiling finish and lights.

No issue with planning and can just be retro-fitted to existing conservatories. We’re looking into it as ours is either stupid hot or freezing.

We’ve just got rid of our Berlingo’s at work. Rear axles went on both. One had 80k on the clock, the other had 45k.

With all the stuff out the back of it, one of them looked really bad, and since knowing about the problem, the number of them you see with the nearside rear tilting in is amazing. Shame as the rest of the van was tidy and the engine was spot on.

Are any of your fingers numb or is it your whole hand? Could be carpal, you do spend all day on a computer so could be due to repetitive movements.

Go to docs, get nerve conduction test and go from there. If it is carpal, go for the op and don’t bother with the injections. They just delay the op. My op took 4mins start to finish and then about 8-10 weeks off the bike.

    Chinatown for food.
    Alcatraz.
Hang off the side of a tram.

We did a helicopter ride over and under the bridge. Best way to see the whole city. Loved the place.

Your mortgage will specify that you have insurance. If the house blows up and you don’t have any, you owe the bank a load of cash and would need to put right any damage to other peoples property.

If she runs up a huge heating bill over winter and she can’t afford it, are you going to pay it and keep her in or get your money and turf her out?

We rent a house out. Are you planning to rent it furnished or un-furnished? Ours is un-furnished so we basically have buildings insurance ie no contents. We also have cover for things like damage caused by tenants should they want to strip all the copper pipe out the place. Also if furnished, items need to be fire safe. Only need a gas cert.

We had to tell our mortgage supplier as we were getting a new mortgage for a new house. Now on a let to buy and had to pay a price for this (so nice of them). Also have to pay tax on rent (imcome) but you can right alot off with fees, interest on mortgage and up-keep.

Not sure if i’d rent to family as you do call them all the names under the sun when the phone you up with a problem!!

Was complete with a load of mixed up stuff on it. Now repainted and in the garage.

I love my job at times

I run DT Swiss 5.1’s tubeless with normal Maxxis tyres. Had no issues in the last 18 months i’ve been using them. They drop pressure to maybe 20psi from mid 30’s over the space of about 4-6 weeks but other than that have been spot on.

Think i might go proper tubless tyres next time but at the moment they’re all ok. I used Joe’s eco set up, lots of soapy water and a track pump and they went up without much trouble.

We have a water bed from these: –

    http://www.aquastarsleep.co.uk/

Never too hard or too soft as you just add/take out water to suit. They’re heated too so nice to get in on a winters night and you don’t get hot in them in summer. Had it for about 3 1/2 years now and both me and the mrs love it. She suffers with Fibromyalgia and its worked a treat. Just put in a bit of water conditioner each year to stop the water going green and rotting the rubber and you’re good.

I’d go Hope. I replaced the original BB at the start of the year (2011 bike) with a FSA one and one side is already feeling rough. I’m going to try and clean it out and re-grease it but after having a normal Hope BB before, i’d go for that.

Not used sodium hydroxide to get a seatpost out but i had one stuck in an a steel frame. I ended up cutting the seatpost close to the seat tube, then using a hack saw blade removed from the saw, to cut the tube length ways. Took me a couple of days to do it (not sawing all the time) but it came out fine once the post was slit. No damage to the frame and no mess.

We movd into our new new house mid december and that has one, dwarf walls, all glass walls and reflective glass roof. We get sun from late morning until the end of the day.

Its been baltic since we moved in. So cold infact that i broke the door handle trying to lock the door in the night after letting the dog out. We’re in two minds about what to do with it. Build a proper extension where it is and open the kitchen up or change the design a bit. We have started looking into putting a different roof on it. Its basically a plastic solid insulated roof with mock tile effect roof (sounds great when you put it like that!!) with a couple of sky lights. Have been told they make the room much warmer. Might be worth a look.

I had capal tunnel op and got a 661 one with the removable splints. It was more to hold the muscles on the palm of my hand in place.

Worked great and although a littel bulky, it could be worn under gloves. Used for maybe 6 months. Still sometimes use it in the cold when my hand aches a bit.

We’ve done work like this before for Total. We send our one of our little vac tankers and suck the tank out. You can pretty much get the whole tank out, maybe just a liter or two left (if you don’t tip). They cannot do this as their tankers don’t a suck option.

Quite a few suppliers run about in multi pot tankers. Saves them on transport until something like this happens.

When i got divorced (some years ago now) we had a pre-separationg agreement. Basically it stated how we were going to split the house and that after the split, neither of us would be able to claim off the other, even for things that we had running at the same time as we were together such as pensions, or savings that would pay out at a leter date.

It was pretty much sell the house, split the money and thats all you’re ever going to get your hands on, even if in a months time, some shares i bought when we were together sell for £50 million, you ain’t getting squat.

They help stop things getting nasty. It only takes one call at the wrong time of day and an amicable split all goes to crap. With this in place, if it all goes nasty, it stops either of you crapping on the other.

Right, bit of a sketch for you. Pink bit is the spacer with the axle of the wheel pushing it into the dropout. This is the drive side so will be pushed forward even more. Just want to try to secure it with some glue.

Chain tug won’t work as theres a gear hanger on there too.

Have got IPA at home so no problems cleaing it/degreasing it

Its for horizontal dropouts that i can’t use chaintugs on. Spacer is to go in front of axle, just lookng to make sure its secure.

Does it have moving parts? If you just need to get the idea out, how about making one out of modelling clay? Maybe the model doesn’t need to move but you’d be able to show what it should be like. That and some drawings would give people an idea of what you’re after

Was told of a few issues the digital ones had a few years ago. Mate went through about 3 or 4 from new getting it to work while our clock one worked straight from new.

Bit of digging and it sounds like a common fault on those stats.

Can’t remember as we have a Worcester in other house but think ours only flashed blue when they were talking (heating being on and running), not all the time. If it is flashing all the time that may be the problem.

Which thermostat have you got at the moment?

    skiprat
    Free Member

Have you replaced the batteries in the thermostat or do they need replacing? When you do that, you have to link the thermostat to the transmitter on the boiler so they connect and work together.

Think any new thermostat will be supplied with a new transmitter.

On our Berlingo’s, the bulkheads only behind the drivers seat, almost like a ladder type thing floor to ceiling. Its not full width or height.

Ours are the 1.9 or 2ltr diesels. Had no problems with them over the past 5 years. Just wear and tear parts. They are really quick for a little van, easy wheel spin in 1st and 2nd, even 3rd on wet round abouts.

Used to have a Connect through work. We fitted 5 bikes in the back, only 1 without wheels, and a few bags for a trip away. Drives ok but the front screen is stupid big. Never got stuck in anything be it mud or snow and did ok on fuel.

Did find it went through front tyres quite quick and at the time i had one some of the parts were dealer only so our fitter did struggle for some parts, may not be an issue now.

We have 3 Berlingo’s, 2 of which are older than my Connect was and they are still here, the Connect isn’t.

Just looking on Duedil – companies house type thing we use – and your man owns 2 companies,

TiBolts Wholesale Ltd and Superstar Components Limited. Both are companies that are still running and active. TiBolts is trading as Pure Racing.

He’s not listed as being a director or even linked with another company, even one thats shut.

I did it in my old Connect. Filled right up with petrol and then went. Drove it on the motorway and it got a bit sluggish on the slip road, then i remembered i wasn’t in the car and had just filled with petrol. Then it just stopped.

Had it drained the next morning, new filters plus 20 litres of diesel to flush the lines out all for £150.

End result to make life easier was we got a diesel car too so i don’t have to remember if its green or black.

I’d keep it topped up all the time for a couple of weeks. If i’d realised when i was filling up, thats what i’d of done.

Our old lad Buck tore his cruciate a few years ago after slipping on ice. Lots of rest for a few weeks and a trip to the vet and got told he would need an op. He was 11 at the time and is a pointer cross so not a little dog.
Didn’t think he’d get through the op so opted for hydrotherapy. Never did swimming as they can thrash about un-controlled but he did underwater treadmill. He did it for 3 months with only very short walks on the lead and was loads better. 2 years on he can run off the lead and is happy. Has cod liver oil capsule each day and we’re looking into those green lipped muscles. People say they are really good for joints and i think they’re about £10 for 3 months so not bad either.

We’re on a meter (just 2 adults) and first couple of bills have been £18 and £16 (each for a month). Mrs likes long baths and new house has power shower so blasts through water.

Having the other old shower replaced with an electric one so should cut water usage down a bit more.

This is our RSPCA special Buck. He’s about 13 now, i’ve had him for 12 years and have to say he’s the best dog i’ve had.

There was him and his brother locked in a flat in Rotherham. RSPCA wouldn’t house the two together as they were a pack trashing the place. When i first got him he chewed a plug socket off the wall with the fridge plugged in and has chewed through the hoover cable while plugged in. Used to come to work with me but now happily sleeps at home in the warm. We think hes starting to develop cataracts and is slowing down due to age but he’s still a cracking dog.

We’ll have another when he goes. He’ll be hard to replace but we love dogs.
