I'm getting married in 3 1/2 weeks and have to say i'm looking forward to it. We've had it booked for 14 months (before the day) so have had plenty of time fo save up for it. Its in a place we like (shes always wanted to get married there) and its what we've wanted. It might not be to everybodies choice but then neither is driving to Gretna, grabbing a couple of locals to witness it and then having pie and chips from the local chippy or two for one.
If you want the big day with all the trimmings then get ready to pay for it. It still doesn't have to cost the earth though. We've got the wedding in the hotel, 5 course meal with drinks for 55 people, night doo with food for about 135 people. We're looking at £3800. There are still other costs on top (dress cake etc) but if you shop about and don't rush, even that shouldn't kill it.

Here too but should be done for 12. Just a bit of course work to do and then spend the rest of the morning wasting time looking on the computer.

Don't know why we bothered as the snows come down quite thick and people are phoning up cancelling their christmas skips.

Roll on 12.00. Oh and merry christmas!!

I had a orange and white prestige painted at Woodrup Cycles in Leeds. They painted it in the new very bright orange and white (like the newer clockworks from a couple of years ago)and it looks great. They can re sticker too.

I went from a Specialized Stumpjumper FSR to a Tuel EX8 and have not looked back. I have the green and white (1st yr out)and its just super smooth. It rides well and as yet (touch wood) i've had no problems so far. Rear QR is just longer but using it doesn't cause any problems. Size wise, they have long top tubes but you can easily run a shorter stem to keep things quick up front.

Great bikes either way, just ride both for as long as you can before you choose. In the end i'm glad i got the Trek. It looks after you on a long ride and gets you through the rough stuff (even when your having a bad day!!!) For me it was an easy switch!!

Think i'll have to miss the next one as a visit to the docs confirmed i have a nice "thick" chest infection. Fingers crossed the anti biotics will either help me ride up hill or at least push up a bit quicker!! 😉

Flatfish, just had to do several double takes then!! Long shot….is yours called Ace? Ours (Buck) had a brother, the RSPCA wanted to spilt them up(used to trash houses when they were together) so we had to leave Ace behind. He had similar ears to yours, bit longer and a bit curly.

Nice looking dog by the way 😉

Ours was from the RSPCA. £80 adoption fee that covered bits off, all jabs and getting him chipped. He's pointer sized.

    Food £10-15 per month (dry)
Vets £30 per year for jabs Usually has another trip once a year for either a missing/split claw or dirty ears so £35 for that.
Kennel fees £6 per day inc food. Have used them for the last 9 years)

Putting half the house into "a trust" helped us get below the inheritance tax band. With the cash and investments that my dad had, we would of been over the limit and hit for inheritance tax. It was all left to her (afterall, she needs to looked after) and doing it this way keeps it below the level and also protects her in the future.

Doing my dads at the moment. Ours is quite complicated as mum is still here and lives in the house. But to get round taxes, half the house is being put into trust for me and sisters and other half is still mums(????) Solicitors are working on a fixed percentage and are dealing with it all banks, pensions, taxes and such. Have to say that they are worth it as some banks can be proper sh1ts at times.

That said, most of its just filling in forms so its up to you.

I know its a while away jack, but thought we'd need that long to sort a route out (and i have to fit a bathroom and stuff over the next couple of weekends) Also thought it will give us time to get a good group together.

I have, and have had for the past 2years a problem with my imune system. Started on day when my tongue just swelled up.Not eaten anything different. 2-3 days after, i was run down like i had flu. This kept going on every couple of months. Been to doctors, the ENT at hospital and then to dermatology. Dr there is great and has looked at all different types of things that could be setting it off.

I still have it now and its still ongoing. I'm in next month for nerve testing to see if they're shot. Also found out i had a crappy liver (blood tests) AND recouring glandular feaver (hence feeling like crap for weeks on end).

So far i have changed my diet and this has (we think) decreased the number of bouts i have. I also carry Max strength cold and flu tabs about with me at all times. As soon as i start feeling like anything is going to start, i get throwing them down my throat. Not ideal but tends to keep things at bay. I still ride but not as much as i want. I have to sleep after a ride(in the afternoon) and like nbt says, keep eating little and often.

Good luck with it…we know how you feel!!

Just thought the same Goan, takes me about 15mins to do front and back. Danny, if you take your time and read how to do it 2 or 3 times before you start, you'll be fine….just take your time.

Have an 08 EX8. Tyre wise i run Maxxis, either Advantage or Crossmark depending on the time of year. Grips have been changed to Ergo(?) ones as i suffer with carpal tunnel abit, and have got on really well with these. They feel funny at first but get them right and they're really comfy.

As for pedals, i run DX ones. SPD inside a plastic cage. Yes the SPD bit stands up a bit,, this helps when clicking in. But they just rotate down when in use. Great pedals tho.

Did mine a few years ago. Had 10 weeks in cast!! Did it playing football, slid, put hand down and just the bump broke it. Lots of nice colours and plenty of swelling. Hurt like mad!!!. Go and get it checked out Pook. If not and it heals wrong, you could end up in a world of pain at a later date.

And Crikey, i had a bright green cast on mine!! Why not normal colours?????

Had a Specialized and have now got an EX8. Trek is the better bike if you ask me. Mine is the 08 one, 09 has the mag link i think. Frame is spot on. Suspension is very active and just takes care of everything. Its not so active that you have to keep reaching for the shock tho. I just ride mine and dont bother with the propedal stuff.

Light, rides well, good kit except for grips and original tyre/rim combo (just a buggerto get tyres on straight) but dont let that put you off. Original wheels are bloody strong as is all the kit.

    Fuel EX8 = Good times!!!

Have a 08 EX8 and love it. I'm 6'1" and went for a 19.5 (virtual 18.5). I have a long upper body and arms and the added length in the top tube fitted me just right. I could even shorten it a bit as still running stock 100mm stem. Not had a problem with the frame and from what i hear, Trek are good with warranties for the original owner. Might be worth a call to them jsut to check how you would stand? Maybe reduced price replacement? I think it was the first year ones (maybe mine) that had the rear end snapping. Think newer ones are fine.

As mrben100 says, original wheels and tyres are a sod to seat without a track pump. I replaced both and have had no problems at all.

Cracking bike that makes you want to ride. Comfy and the suspension just eats bumps and jumps.

Got a Worcester Bosch couple of years ago, gas bills went down a hell of a lot from what we were paying before. We also got 5yrs parts and labour cover from them. Plumber we had fit it is approved WB dealer and they keep doing this deal every now and again. Just nice to have a bit a peace of mind. Oh, and the covers free too!!!

marsy8493 sounds like that hatching of a plan!! I know its a long way off and like you say its a long way for a days riding but it sounds like "one of those thing" you have to try. Age, ahem, is not a problem as mid 30's.

If theres room for a little one, i'm there. I'll drop you a mail about it.

    Cheers
