Don't bother with the ammonia. I got some from work (our lab) and it was nice and strong. Did nothing to the seatpost, just made my eyes water and took my breath away!!

Only thing is to get the hack saw blade out and take your time cutting the post out. Takes a good while though so get something good on TV and enjoy!!!

Been there, done it. About 3 hours and your done!!

that's some seriarse boredom going on there.

We're wasting time posting on the GT thread yet they managed 7 pages banging on about us lot. 🙄

Best bit of reading was wanting to get us in a dark room and give us a proper pasting so no one could hear us scream!!!! 😆

Jimmy – i came into this company 10 years ago to build the hazardous waste side of the business. My boss was/is just a very forward thinking man who is willing to take chances with his own money.

To get into the waste to energy side you need to look into the smaller but strong waste companies. The big boys are still very landfill orientated as they need to fill the holes in the ground up. We had one wanting to buy us out just so they could stop us going forward!! Once we get fully up and running on this side of the bussiness, we'll be taking waste from all over yorkshire and other areas of the UK as we one site on the side of the docks, one has sea and rail links and another has rail. All are along the M62 so have good road links. Getting the waste off the road is nice and green too, so customers think your super green!!

What are you doing/wher you working now?

I work for a waste disposal company and we are currently working on a number projects like waste to energy and waste to ethanol. There is a lot of work going on in the waste sector at the moment and lots of the bigger companies are investing in new plants.

My degree is in Environmental Engineering (did alot of work on landfill design) and have been in the waste sector for the last 13 years. Its a growth industrya theres always going to be waste produced. It will get less and less over the years to come but it will always be there.

Remember the saying "wheres theres muck, theres brass". Its true!!

Have one through work. Done 93000 and only thing mines needed is a power steering pump and an ABS sensor. Fits a couple of bikes and all kit in easily. Drive ok but can be a bit thirsty.

Well built and good in the snow. Didn't get stuck once!!

A woman who used to live near me used to train dogs for the blind. She would take them to a beach and walk up and down all day long with the dog off the lead walking to heal. When the dog saw something and wanted to run over to see what it was, she would throw a bean bag close to it. This would break the dogs concentration and give her time to call it back. She said she would do this all day until the dog gave up wanting to run away.

Its a long day as you cant give up!!

I get what you mean. I'll give yours a go though. I had a 18" Inbred before the Scandal so i know you can go throgh loads of frames trying to find the right one. Thing is, on-one dont have ones you can try so in some ways its just pot luck.

Sounds like i might be ok with a 16. Will defo be trying yours out now. Will be ok as i can still use the Thomson post to "stretch" it out for climbing.

Not ordering anything just yet. Just looking at what forks people are running to get an idea of what to look out for.

Thanks for the offer of trying yours, will see if my monkey arms will be ok on it!!

Just top side of 6'1". Run it with a layback Thomsonand 100mm stem so very XC. I like the Scandal as it powers forward, thats how i got up the hills this weekend 😉

But on the downs it feels quite harsh. Plus when we go for a play it just doesn't feel quite right. Would like to run more travel up front and also want a bike i can crash on without having to think what it might do to the frame.

My Scandal is an 18" and i was thinking 18" 456 due to my long legs and and arms. Will still be quite small for me so will have plenty of room to move around on.

Just looking for forks now….what year are your Pikes?

Thats where i got mine from.
Grade 1 just means its been issued and has come back all ok. Like mine had that blokes name in. No holes and all zips ok. Hood is a pack away one but big enough to go over a helmet. Just looking at a 456 in blue so soon we could be twins!! 😕

Pook, have done that on a set of wheels before and had no problems with them after. Just be careful that the rim is wide enough to take the bigger hole ie. on the flat bit of the rim, not going onto the sloping sides.

I used my sisters laptop for something and the other day and later on i caught her using my razor on her legs so rightfully i had ago at my sister (hygene and all that).

What were you looking at on her laptop…perhaps she was getting back at you for your lack of hygene all over her computer!! 😆

Wansley, i had a very similar thing with my mum many moons ago. Had been seeing a girl for a good while and then out of the blue her mum died. She didn't know her dad and was all alone (bar gran). She got a transfer with work to where i lived and i asked my mum if it was ok if she moved in just until the house we were going to buy went through. Things were ok at first, then she started being a bit off. Nothing major but just enough to know that things weren't right.

We moved out and this carried on for a couple of weeks. Tried asking what it was and got no answer. Asked dad and he told me she was upset about "loosing me to another woman". She hoped she could look after me like she had.

Think your mum will be fine. Mine is spot on now.

Alot of the course content looks like what i did 15 years ago. The landfill part should be taken out as the future is recycling, waste to energy and the like. I work for a private waste company (have done for the last 9 years) and we are looking at composting, waste to ethanol, washing plants. The waste industry is a huge growth industry and will be for the next few years while we play catch up with the rest of Europe. Its also where people are wanting to invest money.

Other units will give a good grounding in alot of areas but she may still need more specific training when she has a job. I have just done my NEBOSH health and safety to give me another area to look into.

Best of luck to her, she just needs to look into what area of tree hugging she wants to get into!!

Had the same thing happen to my EX8, rear mech cable at junction of top and seat tube? (Not as deep as yours, just a flat rub).

Cut cables and sorted routing out, put on heli tape and contacted bike shop i got it from. No problems since. You should be fine with what you've done regarding contacting local shop and the Trek warranty. Just note the date and name of shop you contacted just in case you do need to send it back.
