Depending on where you are, we asked for vouchers for Meadow Hall (big shopping ctr near Sheffield). They have loads of shops in there including major department stores and travel agents. People were happy giving them as we needed a new telly so put some toward that. That way you can buy the bigger things you want and people dont get put off by you asking for hard cash (we did that though for direct family and close friends!!)

So….is it worth getting a Deore one for £50 or

Truvativ Firex Team with bb for £53
    or
Race Face Ride XC Chainset with X-Type bb for £65
    or
Truvativ Stylo Chainset inc bb for £80

    Any help?

Look at the adaptor, if its the wrong way round it will move the whole caliper towards the disc. Is the adaptor like this

This is a Hayes mount but it shows the extra bit that sticks out where the bolts go through. This the wrong way round will position the caliper towards the disc.

I assume your talking about the bolts that hold the adaptor to the forks? Try shorter bolts or just put a washer under the allen key end to bring it out.

Are you using an original Avid adaptor? One side stands out more where the bolts go through. Look to see if theres an arrow on it, this points to the top. You could just have the adaptor the wrong way round.

I have a similar set up (08 Revs, Juicy 5's 185mm) but am using a Hope hub and have no problems.

Fingers crossed for your dad Drac, all the best.

Had carpal tunnel op 12 days ago and just had my stitches out this morning. Its all looking ok but i did react to the iodine they put on.

Now got granny hand and arm….skins peeling off and arm is wasting away due to lack of use. Hoping that should be ok to ride in about 6 weeks….

    …we'll see.

Did woner if the pic was a bit risky but what the hell, you like Hora??

The second is that she knows I don't like her PJ's… OK – I could buy her some PJ's I like, but doesn't that mean I am encouraging her to wear them?…

Why oh why are women so complicated?

Why not play mind games back? Make/ask her to wear the ones you like (see above) when she thinks thats all you find her nice in, she'll soon be back to wearing these….

(don't blame me if it doesn't work though, like you say, women are so complicated 😉 )

Yeah, hate it when our lass wears her PJ's like this…..

its a sure sign of the beginning of the end!!!

Also, has he got lots of wires and pipes sticking in and out of him? Is he in good condition? Maybe on some wards, sorry to call them "gods waiting room" wards the last thing they want children to see is grandad not looking like he used to being kept alive by a machine. Child see's him, starts balling their eyes out and neither the child or one parent get any time with them.

Just a thought as to why….

    skiprat
    Free Member

As others have said its mainly due to kids carrying all sorts of bugs on them and trying to keep the ward in order. When my dad was in having treatment for cancer (in Sheffield) my sister couldn't take her kids in to see him even though they'd come all the way up from Cornwall!! Granted he had no immune system but sometimes its just not worth the risk.

Mrs Skip was in a while back having a lumber puncture when mum, dad, grandad and 2 kids came in to see grandma in the next bed. Nurse was straight in to get rid of the kids and 1 adult. The last thing our lass needed was 2 kids next door to her saying "whats this? whats that do? Can we go yet?"

Its not only your family on the ward but other peoples and some may need more rest. Do the video thing, he'll be able to watch in more than once and may mean more to him knowing the trouble you've all gone too.

Pook, i like it. Its always fun riding out with you lot, even Hora!!! 😉

Not only did I push up that hill but I stopped more than once for a breather as well. Who cares? I had a laugh even though I'm not as awesome as you.

As a fellow pusher from "The Great Band of Pushers", we'll push up or down anything. Its all about getting out there with like minded people and having a laugh.

And while your mate might have a nice flash camera (and make a good film) it looks like it suffers with condensation…its all misty round the edges!!! 😉

I had an idea, Skiprat could meet us at different stages of the ride and bring hot drinks and cakes.

    Cheers pal……

He'd be like a support car. He could bring me spare parts. And carry my big screwdriver.

It'll only be a week after the op, i don't know if i could cope with the weight of all those parts 😉

I'll see how i'm feeling and might pop along to say hello

We're based just outside Leeds. We have a VCU that is ABP approved by DEFRA and we are currently manufacturing one that is a VCU, just on a much bigger scale. This is housed inside a building so it will be easier to monitor and control.

We're making compost to Pass 100 standard and diverting a hell of alot of waste away from landfill.

Are you local or far away?

    skiprat

Do you intend to harvest the compost? Putting pipes through it will make it hard to get the compost out. We're doing it on a large scale at work – just the composting part so know how hard that bit is.

What waste you putting in and will you be keeping tabs on it? Ours is fed and monitored each day to make sure its hitting 70 deg C. We are animal by products approved so can put all sorts of stuff in it. We are tested on a regular basis to make sure we're hitting standards.

Got some ready to go. Feel funny at first but will use them to start with. Will be ok when the op is done. Maybe i just need to some new longer travel forks to take the edge of stuff. 😉

Its because its my "action" hand that i'm having it done. Sitting at a computer most of the day clicking a mouse has resulted in carpal tunnel. Operation is only 5 mins long but think i'll be off the bike for a couple of months after. Will be on the turbo to try and keep my legs working but with the cut being on the palm, i won't be able to apply pressure until its healed up.

    Roll on the summer…

    Good luck!!

I just used a normal sized one. Post was 26.8mm outside dia and a normal one fitted inside that. Just put gaffa tape on one end (stops the teeth digging in your hand) and get cutting. Change blade on a regular basis though to make it easier. Best when they're nice and sharp!!
