They are a doddle to replace the master cylinder. If you have a bleed kit it takes 5 minutes to replace the MC and however longer to bleed them. All you need is here

Some Zipp 404’s for the roadie. I know there are far superior and cheaper rims but by golly I want some!!!

Pared my collection right down recently, now just have a 26″ hard tail, AM full boingo, and the road bike. Adding a fat bike soon, but that might take the place of the hard tail. Im with the OP, been riding the hard tail a lot lately and its made me a better rider going back to my roots and actually enjoying the trails without having to pick funky lines to warrant the FS. the AM machine has had one ride on it since I built it 6 weeks ago! I should really take it out this weekend since the weather forecast is for glorious!

As has been said a few times before…..
Fat bikes look like Mint Sauce’s bike and that appeals to those of us of a certain age….

    They do!! No wonder!!

Interesting observation from our ride last weekend, on our usual bikes people just nod or ignore you, on the fattys everyone smiled or wanted to know more or just made a positive comment as we ruled past.

Mate it was the best fun in a long time on a bike. Smiles per miles ratio is off the chart!!

Can’t wait to build mine up!

rode my first fatty in anger today, absolutely hooked! A mate of mine has connections to a frame builder in Taiwan so ordered a few frames in with slightly different geo and frame materials. I was surprised at how nimble and fun the ride was. I’m definitely building one up when he finalises the frame specs.

all in my experience mate, from friends who’s houses I’ve been invited over, “to have a quick look at their computer” only to spend the next few hours performing open heart surgery on their spangly new Windows machines. The amount of bloatware that comes with them is atrocious. Then you have the constant updates, week after week..

After using computers since i got my first Speccy zx80 as a spotty kid, I always loved Apples simple ethos. Windows has always been its poorer cousin. Regardless of its proliferation, for the average user, Mac ticks all the boxes for just working without needing to be an emeritus from MIT.

Constant updates, constant virus scanning. It was an XP machine that I spent more time frigging around with than actually using to do stuff. Safe to say on my shiny lovely mac I have done zero of this and its as fresh as the day i turned it on. If you want a computer that works and looks nice buy a mac.

I spent years of my life babying PCs from the scum of the internet, constantly vigilant like it was on the Liverpool Pathway or something…. until i bought a Mac.

Like the old cliche, it just works. No spending hours pulling my hair out trying to get it to boot up off a USB because some lithuanian gold tooth **** decided to zombie my computer or shit like that.

Worth the price a million times IMHO.

    Now go buy one

Ive got a Shimano Unzen pack and its been superb. Decent size and not to big and bulky. The crossover chest strap takes about 5 seconds to get used to. Rode all through an aussie summer and it was great no sweaty back as it channels the air around it. loads of tool storage and fleece lined pockets for your phone etc.

On aye squirmy as a mofo, I found as they wore down they were really erratic handling wise, breaking away on stuff that usually they ploughed through. I remember railing a left handed berm at our local trails one I had done a million times same line as usual and the bike slipped right under me. I pissed them off pretty much that day. Now on Nics and love them! Crazy.

Nothing beats a tioga farmer john as everyone knows hahha

For those of us who get on with HD’s, what should we be using oh wise one?

haha no idea matey, I tried to love them, tried them in all conditions and I just hated them. Choose wisely young padawan for the trails are alive….

Have to agree with the Crankbrothers sentiment. Nice stuff visually, but utter tripe performance wise. Seatpost clamp that doesn’t clamp, silk screen printing that rubs off with your fingers, terrible wheels that are virtually disposable.

I wonder how many of these hates are user error. Although the Hans D’s are pure emperors clothes. Utterly shit tyres yet constantly raved about clearly by people who have no clue!

All my Endura stuff has been brilliant. The only reason I’m going with a new brand this year (DharCo, Aussie brand) is I fancied a bit more colourful kit than the muted camo colours of the Endura stuff. Saying that, Endura have more colours in the 2015 range.

Weight of mine in current form is bang on 30 pounds. That’s with a meaty wheel set and boat anchor Hussefelt cranks and coil Sektor fork. Doesn’t feel or ride heavy at all and is perfectly balanced. I was always a Giant naysayer as they are common as muck but they are well put together and excellent VFM. Picked my frame up for 120 Aussie dollars and powder coated it mattblack. In the bike rack at our local trail cafe it was getting a lot of positive comments so finish it nice and it’s still a very capable bike. [/gushmodeoff]

Ahhh i see Fog me old china. I’ve heard that too about the 29er version. I think all the 29er models had this flaw, a mate has the Anthem and that has a shockingly low BB. on the other side of that colin, I had a MC Fury and that was BB clearance heaven but made you feel like you were riding a grand national horse!

Really? I adore mine. I’ve ridden a shitload of bikes in my time and my 2008 giant trance is such a sweet ride that I spent the money I was going to use to buy a Norco sight on a full rebuild of the giant.

Ashima PCB brakes. You think Avids are bad, yer nur nurthin Jun Snurr.
Hans Dampfs, the draggiest, slowist, crappest tire I have ever used in the last 30 years.
Tioga lock on grips that did everything but lock on, and the grip literally wore off after one muddy ride.
Defeet Woolieboolies, spuds in the toes after a few rides and yes I do clip my nails. Overpriced and appalling quality.

Speaking of Karl Urban, I was watching Chronicles of Riddick last night, I’d forgotten he was in it. Naff film but watchable nevertheless. Thandie Newton though… Pinnochio was less wooden.

I don’t know mate, for me in have never had problems with avid brakes from BB7’s, Juicys and Elixirs. For me the secret is to follow the instructions to a tee. Both installing and bleeding. Use genuine kit as well. I think a lot of people think they can jam on a syringe and push the fluid up the guts and get a good bleed. I’ve seen some muppetry akin to this in the flesh at a LBS near me.

For me they work and always have given consistent braking and performance as good as the XTs I have on another bike.

I’ve got both. The mounts just need shimming.

I get amused when I see these threads about Avids. Cheap Avids for us that know how to look after them!

Never been in that site before. This situation though reminds me of a similar one I was involved in many moons ago. I was a member of a Honda prelude specific forum here in Australia. A great resource and great members with an active community. As a proper mechanic and not an armchair one, I had a bit of sway when it came to members greviences. The site owner/mod got drunk on power and started banning people for the tiniest infractions and slights. A few of us seasoned members took umbridge at this and formulated a plan. We copied the site to another server lock stock and bollocks and redirected the old url to the new one. We then deleted the original owner. It was quite a feat and to the average member nothing changed. The look on his face when he confronted us was perfect. He gave us keys to the kingdom and we used them. Can you guys not pull off a similar coup d’état?

For me it’s my peen, inflagrante around the nether regions of various media starlets over the years. It was mucky business but one had to slay a few tarts before settling down. All I can say is, even the hottest women fart in their sleep.

Lol @ memo from the ex. How very…

If I go out with my nephew I encourage him to wear a lid as he isn’t as spatially aware as an adult. His assessment of risk is based on his experience of pushing his own limits. He also knows that a knock on the head is going to hurt as demonstrated at the tender age of 8 when mid light sabre fight with me I managed to flip him over and land him on his scone and put him out for a few minutes.

I don’t get the rabid yes and no debates that surround this issue, even here in Oz where it’s stupidly mandatory and you risk a fine for non conformance. Just wear one when the situation merits it. And don’t be a dick to non wearers because of some anecdotal personal experience.

Risk assessment. Doing 50 down a black run I’d wear one, going to 7-11 for a pint of milk and some tabs, probably not. See not hard is it.
