I know Maurice and Michelle from work / member of the same club / racing etc. and they are friendly, open, helpful cycling enthusiasts who used to give a lot of their time to helping out with club events (TT secretary etc.). I don’t know what perceived slight or grief this guy has but this kind of attack is way out of proportion and would imagine is extremely upsetting and unpleasant to be on the receiving end of.

I’m just on week 6 of physio for exactly this. Was a pinched nerve in my neck caused by poor shoulder alignment. After long rides, turning my head to the left would cause a sharp pain down my shoulder and all down the arm. Dealt with by a lot of stretching exercises for the neck, and finally some strengthening and alignment of scapula and deltoids.

It’s quite easy to treat. Also worth checking bike fit as above. Additionally stretching and strengthening to prevent recurrence.

Microsoft Band 2, really like mine. Syncs to strava, meets all your requirements. I like all the health data it creates on the MS site. Sleep tracking is great.

Not too compacted – crappy grass lawn. It’s quite sandy beneath the grass.

Thanks for that link, will give it a go.

The 800 and 1000 are different though, the OP was specifically asking about the 500 which annoyingly when you plug in a normal cable shuts itself down and resets the data.

It requires a “missing pin” cable which fools the unit into thinking it’s not connected.
And no, I never managed to find one. In the end I actually completed the ride I was doing in about 15hrs and it just about lasted so I stopped trying to find the right cable.

Exactly right. It’s a disappointing feature from a good GPS unit. (Still not really found a good reason to upgrade)

Has anyone tested garmin uploads and trainer road on it yet?

Yep done both of those things, no problems.

Yes. I find it a problem the other way round, I occasionally get in the manual car, start it and then try and put it in gear without pressing the clutch.

It’s quite rare though, somehow the brain adjusts. It’s really not an issue.

Arkle Manor? In fact there’s lots of choice on the A25 between Dorking and Reigate.

I take the points about Sky and their low tolerance. They must have known JTL was juiced pretty quickly and got rid, fair one.

I do think they push it to the limit with what he is taking, weight-loss, inhalers and the steroids in the past, but I’m sure all the others do too. Maybe Froome is the perfect formula – a bigger guy who can put out higher power than the climbers, and then just make him lose weight to dangerous levels and you have the perfect TDF machine.

I don’t think Froome’s doping. I think he’s using weight loss medication to control weight, using inhalers at the bottom of climbs, has TUEs for other medication. Some fruity goings on with that weird illness he had. I don’t think Sky have a doping programme in place although their reputation is not as pure as they imply – plenty of association with shady individuals in the past not to mention people like JTL and even Sergio Henao, that was odd too.

In conclusion, probably not doping but doing everything possible but.

Did it yesterday, 10h 25mins moving time. Got lost a few times, could certainly improve on that but no desire at the moment!

Set off from Winchester at 6:30 and rode into Eastbourne with the South Downs MTB boys.

Doing it on a CX bike was pretty painful. Was interesting comparing ourselves to some MTB groups we saw, at times we would pull away, up the really steep stuff we didn’t have the gearing where the MTB boys could spin. I came off twice, once when it rained in the morning and I lost it on some chalk and the second time just a concentration lapse and went over the bars into some nettles. You can’t stop paying attention for a second on a CX bike on the SDW!

A memorable and mainly enjoyable day. Sore today though!

I’m doing it on Sat. with a friend on CX bikes so taking a keen interest in all this…

Not sure of the route you have in mind but be aware that it’s RideLondon100 that day so there will be road closures – Richmond Park etc. Not that you can’t get on the roads, but something to bear in mind…

Despite having had all the kit since January, I’ve done jack-all with it so far

Relax, there’s no point doing it until just before you’re burgled.

I’ve used bleach on inner tent (very mild mix) and it definitely works, kills the mould. The bleach smell stays around for a while is the main downside I found.

Thing is, whilst all that is perfectly true it comes back to whether you trust the dealer to either do the work or honour the warranty

    Yeah, I thought that.

At least if the dealers paper filter colapses and damages your injection pump your covered

yes but that means I need to know what those things are and link it back to the original work and prove it such that they would accept it. All seems unlikely.

7 months on TR and today I realised that the white dot on the power bar is your interval average…

Wow. Did not know that and I’ve used it for 3 years!

Funny, I went home on my lunchbreak to remove an old fitted wardrobe and found an old Razzle tucked behind the back. Got me thinking how difficult it was for chaps before the internet…

Me too, perfect example of one of those moments when you have two choices. Either engage self preservation, accept the other driver is a hazard but just drop back and let him pull in or, option two, just sit with the same gap, be belligerent and wait for the inevitable to unfold in front of you. I’d go for the former option.

Yep, rational brain working correctly. I’m afraid I would have done the same as the lorry driver though.

My friend says if he could do it to himself he wouldn’t because it would make him feel gay, but he admits to self-pleasure using his hand so I think his logic is poor. If humans had really short arms so you couldn’t reach yourself then using ones hand would presumably be gay by his logic.

If I could do it I think I would.

Just for balance, I’ve used Stages power meter for a year now and had no battery issues. It’s reliable and accurate in the consistent sense, I’ve been happy with it.

C#, .NET, Entity Framework, bootstrap. You’ll have something presentable in no time.

Agreed, but have to give a huge vote for AngularJS which kind of supports / extends bootstrap but isn’t quite the same thing. It’s a tremendous way to develop web front-ends – testable, dependency injection etc.

Lastpass here. Used to be keypass with dropbox sync but can’t use dropbox / cloud sync at work so was having to email myself kdbx files when I updated them at work.

    Lastpass solves all that.

    Carpathian Peak for me tonight.

Viewing recommendation Swedish Chef? I’ve enjoyed a lot of your previous cyclocross vids. (Shamefully, I prefer watching the women). A good road race scrap would be good.

Thanks all. Yeah the sky router is all in one and they’re a bit ahead of the game there but it is pretty poor really. That Draytek sounds good but is a bit spendy, I’d rather lose the OpenReach modem if possible.

    This looks promising:

? Should do what I need, support for AC as well.

Edit: Doesn’t get great reviews :-(

Oh man I know all these, love it. I always say this one to my 3.5 year old daughter: “Choose the sword, and you will join me. Choose the ball, and you join your Mother in death… Oh you don’t understand my words, but you must choose…”
