Nope. The mtb one pulls more cable. That’s like sinlespeeders running 36:18 vs 32:16. They are both 2:1 but they can’t swap wheels without screwing the ratio up…

If you are the original owner, take it to a dealer with your proof of purchase and trek will provide free replacement bearings… Labour is up to the dealer, but if you bought the bike from them, then most good shops wouldn’t charge… Gary Fishers are covered also 🙂

I’m running that very combination in those sizes and they’re spot on! Size is near as damnit, you can throw them round better than a pair of crossmarks and it’s much easier going than hr front and rear. 🙂

Any shop that deals with the distributor “Madison” can help. That’s pretty much every shop under the sun as they distribute Shimano, Park, Giro and DT. It will be a standard DT part. There are two basic hub designs by DT, referred to as “Onyx” and “Hugi”. The more basic of the two is the Onyx and it’s what most OEM hubs are. It should be either part “1” or “11” on page 6 here DT Swiss 350. Your LBS of choice should be able to confirm at a glance… 🙂

The Whytes really are the exceptionally loud. It’s the large diameter swingarm i reckon! Much louder than my carbon Blur. As far as road bikes go, you rarely ever get a peep! The only time I am aware of my carbon Madone is when i run through patches of detritus, but even then it’s only slight… I actually had the pleasure of having use of a titanium Litespeed Archon for a while, and it was noticably louder than my Trek! Beautiful bike to ride though…

I miss my 19lb Cannondale… It was the fastest thing I had ever ridden, and I deeply regret selling it. Before you say anything, it was even superb on the downs. Sigh…

That sure is purty! The carbon V10 will take some beating though…

Junk… I had a front hub do it within two months on like my third or fourth ride. I sent it to evolution and they wouldn’t warranty it and wanted to sell me a new shell for iirc £100… Suffice to say I told them to stuff it. They wouldn’t even send me back the old hub, so I only use DT now… 👿

Dang! When you say “pimped” you mean “replaced everything except the frame”… That’s my kind of pimping! Nice one! 😉

@Kitz_Chris – What time of year generally does the riding season start over there? I’d imagine theres a fair bit of snow for a while… I recently moved to western KS and am really missing riding my mtb as we don’t really have the terrain for it here much like eastern CO… The road bike is getting more use than it ever used to in Scotland. I actually rode into CO today for a quick spin (ah, 85deg F… Lovely) 8)

Well, seeing as there is a “classic” slant today…
I have ALWAYS wanted one of these, and I actually saw one parked up the other day which makes the hunger all the fresher…

How accurate is the automatic time zone function on the g-shocks? Or, is it possible to override it? I am interested in one of them for work and riding etc so my omega doesn’t get wrecked, but I live ten miles from a timeline and cross it every day… I generally just stick to “home” time to keep me straight…

Gt Zaskar LE – possibly 1998? (the cosmic black one)
    Giant ATX1
    Cannondale Beast of the East
    Santa Cruz Super 8
    Honda RN01
    Pace rc200
    Klein Adroit
    Rocky Mountain RM7
    Foes F1
    Intense M1…

I think that’s about it, though ironically SC and Cannondale are the only brands there that I would still touch with a shitty stick…

The Stans standard kit works perfectly for me on 5.1s and has been flawless for going on three years now. Even with dented rims! 🙂

    Apologies for flaunting shiny things…

Mine comes in at 29.5 lbs as is. Not especially light, but it has reasonably hefty tyres, bars, forks, seatpost etc. It wasn’t built to be light, but it feels bomb proof! I previously had Revelation Teams and a Monarch shock, but the Fox stuff really firms the bike up at the expense of a little weight.

    I love it!

I highly recommend the new XTR Trail brakes and pedals! They are in fact the ONLY 2011 XTR bits on mine… Thus far that is 😉

Just bought a “L-series” 24mm 1.4f bad boy… Even from ebay it cost more than I paid for my 550D from the shop… Don’t cameras have a strange habit of doing that? Next on the shopping list is a 5D mkII… And ANOTHER external hard drive 😉

Champery is pretty mental, and the first race they ever did at glencoe was soul destroying… One particular corner springs to mind in in Sierra Nevada as being a ball buster too. Damned if I can remember the name.

That’ll be 6″ and 7″ in old money… You can get away with a couple of mm smaller ok, but wouldn’t go much more… If you get slightly bigger rotors, you can shim between the caliper and mounts.

Airport express for sure! Just plug it in the mains and run a 3.5mm audio lead into your hifi. I run airports into every hifi in the house and apple tv into the tvs for streaming video. It’s ace! 8)

Ironically it has been bike to work scheme that apparently **** Donald over in the end…
People don’t seem to realise the hit that c2w takes a big chunk of an ever decreasing margin. Combined with the huge delay between the shop buying a bike, the voucher coming in, the voucher being credited (minus commission), it’s difficult for small shops. He’s not the first, and won’t be the last unfortunately.

They certainly used to be available individually from Madison for about £2.50 each. I thought I’d be smug and look up the part numbers on the shaman tech docs but don’t see them… Ask a silly question, but have you asked your lbs?

Had Coil U-turn Lyriks on my 575 and have Fit 36 Talas on my Blur. The 36s are considerably stiffer and more controlled. Mine have a tapered steerer which no doubt helps, but there is no question in my mind that the 36s are better.

I fitted new Fit Talas 36s to my Blur and love them… Very stiff and supple, and the two different ride heights are perfect! The bike feels great with them!

Do you know what? I stand corrected! I don’t know where I got that idea from… 😳
They are mighty stiff though… I know a couple of folk with i9s who love them…
