I used to have a lot of anxiety about gapping double sets of stairs, until one night I got particularly sloshed and went out and did a set first time. Ever since then it never bothered me… I’m not suggesting that’s how you do it, just saying that over-thinking is usually the problem 🙄
skidsareforkidsFree MemberMy wife’s uncle lives next to a wind farm, with the closest one about 1/2 mile from his house. They are 217ft with 77ft blades and he complains about the noise all the time. I can’t hear them when I am there though…
skidsareforkidsFree MemberNot very fancy, but I have the first Ridgeback Tempest prototype…
It has such a scary low bottom bracket that I had to put 700c wheels on it so I could lean into corners 🙄skidsareforkidsFree MemberHmmm… Over-tightening sounds unlikely, as they don’t preload like conventional aheadsets. What are the symptoms?
skidsareforkidsFree MemberI had that on a pair of Psylos back in the day… Terminal failures like that are usually remedied especially easily…
skidsareforkidsFree MemberYour point caller?
I’m kinda like this with everything I “get into”… Drives the wife bananas 😕
skidsareforkidsFree MemberI recommend them highly! The pictures really take me back. You’ll love it!
skidsareforkidsFree MemberI am amazed at the “Holier than thou” attitude by so many posts here! Get over yourselves.
If another motorist’s actions directly endanger you or others, then that’s one thing, but demonising anyone who has a powerful car or who overtakes to save “two minutes” is moronic.
If they are doing something so wrong, then either the law will get them one of these days, or the Baby Jesus will judge them…skidsareforkidsFree MemberForged upper link? Wonder why they’ve given up on the carbon one?
I like it a lot actually! Would I trade my LTc for it? Maybe if it was stolen or caught fire…skidsareforkidsFree MemberMore drunk stories than sober ones i’m afraid to say… Really wouldn’t know where to begin, but the highlights of the last decade and a half in no particular order are :
Naked photos of me with two cops in Fort William High St, Heated exchange with a pimp in New York City, Sleeping in a JCB, Chasing a baby skunk in a forest, Losing three complete outfits in one night (but not my wallet or phone), Many many less than par women, Hospital combined with two-day memory loss, Acquiring a chain-mail suit from god-knows, Being thrown out of a taxi for doing Elton John from Bo-Selecta impressions, Waking up in Glasgow airport after apparently trying to fly to San Francisco (that would have made me very late for work that day in Glasgow), A kid asking me if I was his new dad, Having a Sheriff that looks like Wyatt Earp convince me that i’d be fine to drink/drive…
Fortunately I don’t really drink any more (no hangovers in over two years now)… I like to think of these experiences as being character building!skidsareforkidsFree MemberSean Lock : Live 😆
…and then, Soul Asylum : Runaway Train… Ace!
skidsareforkidsFree MemberHmmm… The ones that I have haziest memories of (and hence my faves) are:
S’Express – Theme from S’Express.Simian Mobile Disco – Hustler
Vitalic – ‘La Rock 01’
Felix Da Housecat – Silver Screen (Shower Scene)
Tai & Felix Da Housecat – Tai Felix Original Mix
Deadmau5 – I Remember (Original Version)
The toxic avenger – Escape (bloody beetroots remix)
To be fair, I did used to drink an awful lot… 😕
skidsareforkidsFree MemberOh, and tax being included in advertised prices… I really miss that!
skidsareforkidsFree MemberRoad markings… Drives me nuts in the U.S how sporadic lane markings are, and i really miss “give way” and “stop” markings at junctions… It’s really easy to blow through a junction out here and think to yourself “was there a sign back there?” 🙄

Skidsareforkids – was that parked at East MIdlands airport for while last year?POSTED 3 HOURS AGO # REPORT-POST
Nope, I’m afraid not… It lives in Kansas and only has a 6 Gallon fuel tank lol! The farthest from home it’s been is Savannah in Georgia which took 19 fuel stops and 22hrs to fly the 1,400 miles.skidsareforkidsFree MemberWe built this more-or-less from scratch at the end of last year… Piper J3 Cub crop-duster.
skidsareforkidsFree MemberThe intro from this –
Also inkeeping with the “Queen” theme
Also, anything from The Smashing Pumpkins or Metallica obviously 😉
skidsareforkidsFree MemberYip!
I’ve found this with several bikes, and originally I figured i must’ve been imagining it, but after many many uphill slogs alone with my thoughts I have decided it is a combination of increased rolling resistance as the front tyre is weighted more and a subtle change in kinematics… I only ever use Talas now on really steep stuff where the front wheel really wants to lift.skidsareforkidsFree MemberI get grief about bikes and more recently camera stuff, but I’m driving a 13yr old truck and she has a 1yr old Jeep Grand Cherokee and I’m the only one with a full-time job, so the arguments don’t usually last very long 😉
skidsareforkidsFree MemberThanks for the advice guys! Went to hospital and they confirmed it was broken. They just taped it to it’s neighbour and sent me on my way… The wife still isn’t taking any responsibility 🙄 Atleast the interesting colours it’s been changing have kept me entertained over the last week!
skidsareforkidsFree MemberArgo,
Love Actually,
Get Him to the Greek (even though i hate Russel Brand),
The Fighter,
Crazy Stupid Love…Basically anything the wife makes me watch. I should really be less reluctant!
skidsareforkidsFree MemberI really like stuff from Drew Darcy, but not solely for the subject matter, though it may be a little racy for on here 🙄
skidsareforkidsFree MemberI really miss having a decent hifi system, but I had to sell everything before I emigrated…
What is the general consensus on the Sonos systems? I am interested in a “Connect” amp and a pair of half decent bookshelf speakers (maybe Klipsch or Polk). I don’t own a single CD or record as all of my music is on iTunes now… Any opinions?skidsareforkidsFree MemberToo much faff… I had a 20mm front that was constantly developing play from new and would only last half a ride before wobbling again, sent back to Evolution, they sent it back to me and said it was fine and some play is to be expecte (wtf?). Doesn’t matter, as the first ride out after that one of the flanges exploded… Wouldn’t warranty it, so gave up on their hubs.
I do like their headests and bbs, so am torn overall on the brand.
Have had DT 440s and 240s ever since and never had a hint of a problem… Don’t think i’ll ever buy another brand of hub again!skidsareforkidsFree MemberThese… They are as old as the hills and still going strong… I think they are still some of the best looking wheels out there too!
skidsareforkidsFree MemberWe have a Samsung HW-E450C and a Bose Cinemate 1 in our house, and they are both excellent. I used to have a full Marantz/Mission/REL surround system which was superb, but when we moved I had to downgrade. Even the expensive Bose doesn’t come close to a “proper” surround system, but the sound from soundbars is considerably clearer and has more weight that the stock flatscreen tv speakers you get these days. The bars do a good job of directing the sound and it does have a wider sound stage than stock speakers also. I would definitely recommend you get one…
skidsareforkidsFree MemberHad a door frame into the garage that wasn’t screwed to any framing but was held in place with about 15lbs of expanding foam.
Drain vent disappearing into the ceiling but not out through the roof.
Breakfast bar held onto the wall mainly by paint (there were four screws but the heads were almost the exact same o.d as the i.d of the brackets.
Dining room light wired to be always on.
Gas heater exhaust and bathroom extractor both fed into the attic space…
Really dodgy wiring all round…It’s our first house, and has been a hell of a learning experience!
skidsareforkidsFree MemberThis is the first thing I have written about this subject after reading the same argument all over the internet. I have deliberately taken my time.
Far as I can see, the most dangerous thing right now is mis-information in the media. Social media being the largest perpetrator. I have lived in the US for a little over two years now, and constantly hear stories about the “Muslim President” wanting to “take our guns away”, and “give citizenship and benefits to the illegals”. I’ve heard about “Somalian terrorist cells”, “Russian soldiers in Colorado” (WTF), “they’re gonna make us all drive hybrids”, “taxation is going to take all our money”, “we’re going to run out of drinking water” (that one looks like it may be true in many places)…
Anyway, my point being, I don’t know how rumors like those start, but they are on the internet and tv (Fox news usually) and are spreading like wildfire. News storied are all turned into propaganda, and even TV shows about apocalyptic scenarios, conspiracies and national security are rife (Walking Dead, Doomsday Preppers, Americans, Homeland, 24). The election was just months of two candidates and their parties slandering each-other and shouting how untrustworthy they are. People are being mislead and are scared. I think that moves some people to do irrational and unpredictable things… Vicious circle…
IF guns of any type were suddenly to be made illegal (which i doubt will happen) it would take decades for even a dent to be made… Few people will surrender any weapons voluntarily, and even if armed soldiers went door-to-door with a list they would get slightly more. Civil war is a term getting thrown around a lot too, but I really don’t see U.S. soldiers being given the order to turn on civilians nation-wide, and I doubt many would follow such an order.
In the last week there have been over 3,000,000 AR rifles sold nation-wide due to the RUMOUR that they will be banned. These people aren’t buying them so they can be surrendered again. Guns were gifted in this household for Christmas and they probably will be next year too. We aren’t praying for a revolution or for zombies, we’re not praying for someone to break in some night so we can shoot ’em… We hunt, we go to the range as a family and we just don’t want to ever be in the situation that we wish we had them.
Don’t know what’s going to happen, but we’re just going to have to ride it out one way or another…
PS. I don’t plan to reply to this, just wanted to add a perspective from this side of the water

True that…skidsareforkidsFree MemberNot a sports car in the conventional sense, but it is lots of fun and has 350hp! 🙄
skidsareforkidsFree Member“Reality TV Celebrities”. These contemptible morons that are famous for essentially being a bad example of a human being. Worst thing is, they make a fortune doing it!
Is this what the world has come to? Why oh why does anyone give a toss?skidsareforkidsFree MemberPeople who wear pyjamas in public.
Smokers.
People who spit.
People who have no interest whatsoever in disciplining their kids in public.
People who open foodstuffs in Supermarkets and consume them whilst shopping, only to leave the discarded packet on a shelf before the checkout (see previous gripe).
People who use text talk and substitute numbers for letters. ie “c u l8r”The human race is doomed…
