I wouldn’t bother getting boxxers on it tbh, although the old cherry red (2000-04) boxxers were amazing! You’d be doing well to find a decade old pair of dh forks that aren’t totally ****…

Yeah, the shop has the right to charge labour for swapping parts to the new frame. Some shops don’t, so it’s just your luck. The bad news however, is that there have been a few standards changes on GF frames recently, so it is likely you will need a new headset, cables and possibly bottom bracket/chainset (the new high end frames use press-fit bbs and therefore need external bb cranks). Also most warranty frames are disc specific, so if you run rim brakes you will need to upgrade. These parts are all chargeable… Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

The only King headset i have is an inset, and I don’t think the bearing caps are the same 🙁

Bearings have been good, i had to add the inner seals we left out on the outside aswell though as the crankarm was bottoming out when preloaded on, so there was some side to side play in them.

    All works fine now though.

I’ll let Del know about the MM cd’s
    That’s a bit random!

If you can get a hold of one, the Cannondale Taurine is a spectacular bike! I really miss mine 🙁

Definitely go with the movers! I just had them in last week for a full pack and move and they did an excellent job! Well, it looked like an excellent job, but I guess I will find out in 8-12 weeks when my stuff turns up again in the states! 😕

Avid and Hope rotors rust like crazy if left somewhere damp, as do cheap Shimano rotors, but XT/XTR rotors don’t rust at all…

Surely it’s still littering! I think the council should go round and cut every one of them… Laziness isn’t an excuse!

I used a cable tie round the arch on my sids, and cateye light brackets on each leg to secure my mudgaurds and they’re solid 🙂

Behold my commuter! The most disgustingly horrible (yet awesome) bike I have ever had or hopefully ever will have! 🙂

That’s my new M988 brakes all plumbed in and set up with my old RT76 rotors and they are mega! The new 1.5 finger levers are super short so look a little goofy, but they feel perfect and have a good amount more oomph than the outgoing M970s… Sure the Ice Tech rotors would be nice, but I imagine they will only make a difference if you’re really boiling your brakes. I’m more than happy with this set up! Until of course in another four years a newer model comes out 😉

Never had an issue with picture or sound, but for the love of christ, abandon all hope if you try contacting customer services! They actually hung up on my fiancée after she had been on hold for two and a half hours when we tried to cancel our service. Now they won’t come and collect their boxes.

Seconded the GP4000s. The black chili compound is ace on roads! Michelin Pro3s are superb also, but mega expensive!

I have the trail version xtr coming tomorrow and i’ll be running them with the 6 bolt XT floating rotors. Very excited to see how they compare to the M970s.

The camo finish on those is chronically bad… Mine bubbled and flaked after only about six months of use even though they were mainly used at an indoor skatepark!

The DXs are superb! One of the very few flat pedals these days that are built to last… My only criticism is that they have reflector brackets on them… WTF?!?!?

B&W M-1 speakers are my choice… Compact and flexible. They are available singly and can be used on all five channels with any suitable sub. The REL Quake is an excellent sub which has more grunt and better build than many more expensive units!

They aren’t too fussed about cost as they would rather it lasted (IIRC the “Time” cost over £3k 12 years ago).
They want to stick to desktops as they need a big screen and wouldn’t dream of moving a computer around incase they broke it. Plus it will be connected up to existing printer/scanner etc.
I was thinking along the lines of Dell, Sony, etc…

I just don’t understand why everyone is so smug at penny-pinching? It’s a risk for your frame and headset durability, and don’t even think about having any warranty honoured!

Mine is now a hybrid 2007/2010 model

I didn’t know the rear ends were interchangeable between the previous two generations… How is that working out for you?

How often do folk replace headsets ffs? Is £10 to get a bike shop to do it really that much?!?! If you’re friendly with the shop it may even get done for a doughnut!

American cars make sense ONLY in America… I should be living in the states before christmas and it’s gonna be ace! I have curbed my bike spending so I can begin saving for a Dodge Ram. 5.7L Hemi with about 18mpg average, but at only 39p per litre of petrol (sorry gas) vs 117p per litre, it will be cheaper to run than my diesel focus here! Score!

Fishers the UK importer are showing as getting stock in 10th Jan for all models with the MMX lever mount, and 7th Feb for the models with the standard bar mount… Quite a wait! I’m pretty sure CRC don’t use official UK stock for these, so they may be different… I guess my Joplin will have to limp on a little longer.

Problems in Glasgow too… The day I switch from Virgin to BT, and right when I needed to print boarding passes for my fiancée. That’s also right when I find out that every one of my neighbours is on BT too 🙁

After spells of Hope and King hubs, with problems from both teams I now have DT 240s on two of my bikes and 440s on my DH bike. Flawless use for three years. Don’t think i’ll ever use anything else, though I do fancy some i9s some day maybe 😉

Nearly lost an eye when a lefty damper came out like a harpoon… Guess that’s why they say to wear protective glasses when working with suspension… I now remove ALL of the valve cores from forks/shocks before opening them up (this is important, as when you deflate one chamber, the pressure increases in the other even if it is already deflated).

After experience with both Mavic UST rims and Stans rims, I have found it much easier just to plump for DT rims with Stans rubber strips. 3 years now on all 3 of my mountain bikes without a single puncture. I don’t even bother carrying a pump now… Just jinxed mself didn’t I?

I like the “Mucky Nutz” thing! Only problem is how much it cuts down tyre clearance… It just fits my Fox 40s too. It could be improved by being extended forward of the brace also though… And by ditching the stupid name.

I ran 2.1 crossmark lusts on my winter bike two years ago and they were epic… Atleast I thought they were at the time… More of a predictable tyre than a grippy one I suppose. I have since compromised with crossmarek rear, high-roller front. Last winter I ran mountain kings f+r and they were again predictable… I wouldn’t ever bother with mud specific tyres – Just use the winter to build skill so you have more confidence in the dry…

Don’t let the air out… Mudmonster is just making things difficult for himself. Plus it takes ages to reinflate a shock from empty.
