Plus due to the I9 spoke/hub design and the addition of the carbon rim, it will produce one of the stiffest wheelset combos out there.

I smell BS…but pleas explain if I am wrong.
Aiming to hit the market in the summer, with a target price of 1600 GBP.

The I9 system is uses spokes that work in compression as well as tension, making them extremely stiff, plus the spokes are quite a heavy gauge of aluminium as opposed to comparatively elastic steel spokes.
Plus carbon rims can be manufactured to be very stiff, yet with a compliant edge to cut down on pinch flats…

If you’re charging that much, they’ve got to weigh a lot less than a pair of Stans Podiums on AC hubs – which are the ‘standard’ XC racer set up for people buying their own wheels.

AM/FR and possibly DH he says…
Anyway, the Enve rims are £600 each, so that price is pretty much par, and they’re still cheaper than DT EXC1550s. Depends on the design really, as we all know there’s “carbon” and there’s carbon… Half the reason why Enve stuff is so solid is that the spoke holes are moulded as opposed to being drilled…

I stupidly drove into a car park overhead barrier with the 456 on the roof and ripped it clean off the bike rack on the roof, rack was mangled and that didnt bend my revelations or frame so you would have to really go some to bend a set of forks i think.

Testiment to On One steel frames too

Testament to On One owners you mean! (waits for backlash) 😯

Old school ones like that are all 6mm I believe. If you want to save a buck, you can just fit the hose on upside down, with the 90deg part at the lever as it’s the same fitting…

A disgusting number of these bikes are Ultegra, Dura Ace, Record etc… So much for “Dark Side”, everyone seems to really be into their roadies! Nice one! 🙂

Absolutely loved mine! Ran some slx brakes and a bigger front tyre and it was superb! Deeply regret selling it, but I had to cull the fleet a little 😥

It is phenomenal! I bought one a couple of years ago and was shocked how much grunt it has… If it was not for home cinema, I would happily replace my separates system. My only gripe is the slightly daft remote control. Go for it! 😀

Very nice… but hold on a minute

My father-in-law was good friends with Deke Slayton

You can’t just throw in a quote like that at the tail end of a watch thread. It deserves a thread of it’s own!

My dad / father in law knew…

Not just that, but he used to race Formula 1 aeroplanes with him and he performed his eulogy!

I treated myself to an automatic Planet Ocean for my 30th in December and I love it to bits! I don’t wear it every day, so I bought an automatic winder for keeping it ready to go, and for a nice place to look at it B)
I recently saw Omega link made to commemorate the Apollo Souyz Test. My father-in-law was good friends with Deke Slayton who is one of the names on the back of the watch, and I would give my left leg for one! Pretty expensive though 🙁

It is as good as the original paint, plus frame inspection, new bearings, new graphics… I’ve had a few done, and the quality is top notch! Far better than paint I have had done from Argos both in terms of finish and especially durability…

I love mine! 1st gen which is about three years old, and rate it as highly as my e2 and Athlon. It is a little heavy until you get used to it. The spoiler is designed to let heat out better, and my last trip to Spain confirmed that it works… Bargain for £50 and lifetime crash replacement to boot!

Not long home myself either… 2.5hrs to get from the city centre to eaglesham… Plenty of abandoned bmws and white vans. Ironically, those are the two types of vehicles most spotted driving at wholly inappropriate speeds whenever the traffic starts moving freely… Sweet justice.

All you need to know about bushes
Plus, if you get rotation between your bush and your bolt you have big problems! That is not how they work… The top hats (aluminium bits) should be done up tight with the bolt, and they don’t move at all relative to the frame (and bolt). The bush is the part that is rotating against the top hats, and it doesn’t move relative to the shock. It is essentially a sacrificial part to save the shock and make the suspension more supple. If you replace the bush soon after you first notice play, you usually can get away without replacing the top hats also. If there is lots of play, you’ll probably need both. For what it’s worth, the heckler is 8x22mm unless it’s a really old one.

When you mentioned the lever needing ‘flicked’ to make it return indicates that either the master cylinder bore or master cylinder seals may be the problem. It’s actually very common with Avids. I would be looking at rebuilding the lever first before faffing with the caliper…

Santa Cruz in the US are actually very helpful if you ever have any queries with anything, as they replied to me on the same day when I once asked them about shock tunes.
Jungle can be good too, and it’s nice to know that they offer crash replacements for non-warranty issues with frames.
Also, you can order tools, bearings, hardware, stickers etc direct from the UK Santa Cruz website.

Orange are similarly excellent for all of the same reasons, PLUS they offer factory refurbishments further down the line once the frame starts looking scruffy. I just had my 224 redone by them and it is first rate work with new paint, stickers, bearings and all of the necessary prep done. 8)

Definitely either the 5 or the Blur LT. I have a LT2 (albeit a carbon one) and love it! Older gen VPP Santa Cruzes were pretty high maintenance and needed regular bearings, but the new ones are MUCH better. The bearings are now better suited to side-loads than before, better sealed, grease ports on the lower link bearings, an included grease gun and grease to exploit them, and a lifetime warranty on bearings to boot. I have had mine since last october and have never had a creak, a rattle, or needed to touch it with an allen key. Sizing is a little tricky, so I ended up on a large whereas i’m usually a medium kinda guy, but give one a try if you can and you’ll be impressed!
The 5 is also nice. I used to ride a sub-5 quite a bit and the new one is a sight better put together, plus I have an 07 224 which is still going strong, so have nothing but praise for the steeds from Halifax…
Not a fan of Lapierres at all. Pretty much just a mbuk fad brand as far as i’m concerned, and though popular, seem wrought with issues…

It also drives me mental how so many smokers throw away the cellophane box wrapper and the bit of gold foil… Then after chugging down their brand of choice, throw their butt away… Manky barstewards! There is a pub round the back of my work where folk stand there doing this all day long… Maybe I’m just jealous that some people get to be in the pub from mid day seven days a week.

It’s used to keep the oil under pressure and stop the oil from frothing or cavitating to keep damping consistent. For the same reason that a bottle of coke can be shaken when it’s new and will barely fizz, but once it has been opened and closed again (under less pressure) it will fizz like crazy…

I’ve been totally screwed over by two a**holes on ebay in the last week. Then, you try “second chance offers” and all interested parties have gone off and bought something else! I’m starting to think that these weasels just use ebay as a game… I would give them negative feedback, but sellers can’t. Grr…

I got a 18-55mm kit lens with my 550D earlier this year and it’s fine, but a little slow (dark). I am saving my pennies right now for an ef-s 10-22mm which is worth almost as much as my camera, but I am well informed that it is a superb wide-angle for landscape/weather shots…

Last winter i ran 32:17 with 2.1 mountain king rear and 2.5 diesel front at about 20/15psi when riding in snow and it was mega! I rode more in the snow than not and I have felt like a more confident rider ever since!
