stoats brother excuse me but thats crap bub,

one of my riding buddies is 63 this year, he’s not quite as fast as he was a few years back but still makes me work and i’m 20 yrs his junior and fit, i’ve been riding 80 miles every week for over 7 yrs, he rides about the same just a little slower on sunday, probably due to the bottle of wine he has saturday nights.

i know i will be riding in 20yrs time thanks to him, don’t sell yourself short mate, oh and he had a heart attack 4yrs ago. (genetic problem not weight related).

sleep wise, kids eh..bummer, wouldn’t be without them, reminds me of my childhood always first out in the morning on the paper round, now tho’ i go off to work on my bike at 520am, i could take the car and go at 745am but the kids usually wake around 6-630am so might as well just go enjoy the morn.

I’ve been over the bars twice in the last five rides and got thrown on the floor thanks to a sunken root as well, last Sunday being the most painful , all falls where on simple bits like Sunday’s entrance to nath’s in Woburn , I was doing the big Woburn drops and tech bits in the dark the week before no probs thought I too had lost my mojo but then realised I was not always paying attention on the easy stuff, oh yer and I’m shit

Arko stick, Edwin jagger razor and bagger with a box of feathers, feathers are super sharp and always nip my neck but the shave is stunning, tried sharks , derbys , astras but found them a little too blunt , thing about db razors is once you buy the razor and brush it doesn’t cost mote than 4 quid for a premium pack of ten blades so you can chop and change until you find the shave you want

niche shaving is back again,, hehe

started using feathers a few months back, bye ek lad thems some sharp bits a steel, worth every penny,

just can’t get over how cheap de shaving is once you have the razor and brush squared away,

i run 9 speed dual with a 36T as my bigger ring and never use my granny, one of my mates asked me last night what size ring to use as a single on the front with 10 speed, it’s on a Lap’ zesty,

does the 36 work with the 10 speed and give similar ratios ????, i couldn’t answer his question,

also what chain tensioner should he go for ???

Walked Angung Batur in sandels, big mistake not so bad going up, but coming down the lava fields was the most painful 2hrs of my life to date, mad dogs etc,

with a touring bike i would say you have to cut through bali’s centre as shadowboxer suggested, there really is no drunk aussies as soon as you get off the coastal resorts.

+1 for flores, i was there 7yrs ago, just don’t crash as the hospitals are a bit iffy,

my oldest daughter’s middle name is flores she is 6 and a bit, you do the math,

indo i would say is a great place, have you considered ubud as a place to ride in bali, i walked quite a lot of the trails there and its very up and downy with lots of gullys and volcanic rock masses, just a thought

+1 for bletchley park, it’s 100 yards from my front door and very interesting and for geeks it holds the national museum of computing, best visited in the summer during an open day if you fancy a spitty fly past.

    duxford is also a must

i was taking to little salt a few years back, swaeting buckets out both daily on the work ride and weekends up da hills,Dr said i needed more salt as i was not using the right fluids on bike and my misses had listened to the daily mail readers and had almost removed it from our diet completely,

love giving it some salt when dining with friends as they always say’oh salt is bad for you it will kill you etc’ but i point out if like me they did some excercise then they could eat as much salt as they wanted..almost..yum yum yum,,,,,

When I was in primary school around 1980-81, Tanya, one of the girls on my class who also lived next door to my best friend brought in some lovely polaroids she found in her parents bedroom drawer, her mum was very attractive and nothing had been left to the imagination , of course as soon as Tanya showed them to us she lost control of the Pics and they were quickly doing the rounds in our small village school, it wasn’t long before a teacher was in possession of them , then Tanya was quickly detained and her mother called in to see the headmistress and collect her photos and daughter, you can only imagine how she must have felt.

This was only just surpassed as the best day at school by another incident the same week when Paul also one of my friends brought in a 6 shot revolver and a bag of blanks , I can still see the kids and teachers all
Running for cover as he let rip in the playground at lunch time, now you defiantly couldn’t get away with that today but at the time it was just a laugh and he didn’t even get expelled or suspended !!,

God miss school , the best days ever, never a dull
    Day

i have a edwardian house on clay, as above i get seasonal crack that open up when the clay dries out and close again when the clay soaks up rainwater, i wouldn’t worry at all, as previously said, you should only worry about a crack that big enough to get something inside it 🙂

I just sold my mavic 819 on pro 2’s to cover the cost of my new set of stan’s flows on evos , the stan’s aren’t as pretty but they are better IMO ,

I found the 819’s a bit dead and weighty , the ust system on the other hand was top notch , never had a burp a leak or anything ,

the stans are a really nice wide shape and spin lovely. I’m running tubes in them as I can’t be arsed to go tubeless but I stuck on nobbys dd tubeless so I can whip them out if I fancy an evening of spraying latex sealant around the garden whilst swearing a lot.

It’s my democratic right to share my country with trouble making opportunist thieving toss pots like these,

although sometimes I do wish we could go in with the tanks Syrian style and wipe their stupid faces off our planet making it a nicer place for us all,

always proud of the police and their restraint in these situations, if i was one of them i don’t know if i could be so good.

Prodrive are on a recruiting drive at the minute, they have pile of vacancies on their website in the careers section, check it out,

If anyone one out there knows any highly skilled cnc millers for 3 and 4 axis vertical machining centres then we have two perm vacancies to fill in the Milton Keynes area, work is MOD,science and nuclear, prototypes and small batch , salary negotiable .

Also coded welders, vacancies for two people permanent, all stainless steel , salary as above ,

Sorry for the job ad but the right people are hard to find these days

    skiboy
    Free Member

yep all CNC but for a few manuals, thing is you don’t even get the edit key , they tend to employ setter operators,(lower skilled than someone like myself) or button pushers as we call them, all the thinking and skill is removed,

I am currently awaiting a hiedenhian 5 axis sim course and a new CAM (solidcam) course as I am a programmer and a skilled machinist with 25yrs including a 4 yr apprenticeship under my belt, i have also just purchased a £400k DMG 5 Axis mill to play with,

if you want to be a machinist then you need to get a good apprenticeship then lots of experience manufacturing on CNC’s doing your own programming and cam work then take it from there to go into F1,

average salaries are around 27-30k in F1 but when you think you will be working around 55-60hrs a week it only means around £10.50 an hr, we pay our guys around 12-15 per hr, top wack for the good ones, anything over 40 hrs is at 1.5 per hr so that means we pay our guys around 48k per year if they work 15hrs overtime a week, the top guys that is.

or in simple english if you want to earn money work outside F1, if you want to work in F1 it’s a great job but don’t expect to get paid well.

this is just my experience others may differ, you should get a balanced view, as one of the other post says contact the MIA, ask them what you should do

my rolex gains around 8 seconds a day, just inside cosc standards, when i first purchased it 4yrs ago it was 1.5 seconds slow a day, i personally don’t care and have yet to be late for anything as i’m always 5 minutes early for everything by the end of the month :D,

spent 3k on a new ‘Z’ SD, it’s now worth 4.5K, you don’t get that with a casio

i worked for a A1 sub contractor in the 90’s, one of my friends is a long term employee of Renault F1,another two were long term WRC rally team employees and I’m currently interviewing bundles of people with decades of motorsport experience in manufacturing and one common theme is present among all these groups and my own experience,

the is the money is crap, most of the work is contract only, long hours are a must, the CV’s are as previously mentioned piled to the roof,

    on the plus side,

once i was interviewed in the boardroom at Jaguar F1 , that was an experience i was up for even though i didn’t get the job,

i made the front uprights on one of Ralf Shu’s car and then watched him race it 2 weeks later without the wheels falling off, makes watching a race a different experience,

it’s a good career move as everyone thinks it looks good on a CV,

Always worth a punt if thats what you want to do with your life, might not be fun if your married or like socialising,

I have a guy starting at my our place on Monday that spent 10yrs at Arrows F1, 5 at TWR, 6 at motorsport development WRC and for the record he wants to earn some real money and work normal hrs,

I should add we were/ are all machinists apart form my mate at Renault who is a race gearbox technician at the factory.
