im 43 and have no intention to pack it up anytime before i die,

one of my riding buddies is 63, he gets to go out whenever he likes, but then again he did leave his wife 12000 miles away in australia 😯

my wife does get a little mardy sometimes but i think it’s just a little guilt that she is a little less active and lacking of a sport, hobby, pastime etc.(she does run 4 times a week and rides 15 miles)

I used to wakeboard as well for 15 yrs, but i packed it up when we had the kids 7 yrs back, as it was a little selfish to have to many sports, pastimes etc,

i think you need to make your misses understand that not everybody is content with a life just shopping, sitting in front of the telly and pointlessly eating themselves to death.

some of us need to get out amongst it ,getting muddy and covered in crap in the winter and cuts, bruises and dust and the summer,

    no feeling beats it IMO.

    yep yep yep,

2011 my best year by far,

after some pretty nasty crashes and 1 ball rider form which i could not unclip i decided it was time to try flats, why oh why did i wait so long,

totally transformed my relationship with my bike, i love it, my riding has improved so much due to this and also due to one of our riding buddies, Richard, who’s enthusiasm, speed and downright gutsy riding has pushed me right out of my comfort zone (in which i have been for 6yrs) and shown me the way to get more from my bike and myself,

    roll on next year..COME ON……………

m970’s on two of my bikes , one running dual and bash, i love them, light, efficient , extremely stiff, nicely made, who cares if they look a bit naff after the XTR logo has started getting rubbed off, Don’t buy them because they are xtr buy them because you want the performance you get when you buy xtr,

I use the amber gold iridium polarised lenses but I don’t think
They do them anymore , they were around 80 just for the lense
But I wear them all year round , they look very dark until you put
Them on , Oakley custom @internetopticians.co.uk

I bought a Cotic soul from cy a few years back , it had a small dent in the seat tube , It went back , cy was great and returned another frame straight away, it was most likely done in the early stages after the tube was cut because I couldn’t see any way of putting the dent in after welding , these things happen , just take it back, you will regret it if you don’t because you will constantly lOOk at it

just buy a razor from these guys,

    http://www.traditionalshaving.co.uk/

and get some japanese ‘Feathers’ blades from them too and you will be a happy man,

as for creams etc, i use Arko soap sticks, cheap and last for years, get a decent brush too, £25 for a good badger should do.

sorted, ps i have never nicked or cut myself in 1 year of going ‘niche’, so don’t listen to the hype

i had my third ride on flats yesterday, have ridden about 15 hrs now on flats in 3 weeks, i put some podiums on my heckler and nukeproof protons on my Evil sov, absolutley love riding with them, I also feel more connected with the bike which i also find rather odd, one of my mates is giving me help as he has always ridden flats, lost the pedal only once yesterday on a short log drop due to being on the balls of my feet again, i know what i have done straight away and correct immediately, using sam hills 5.10 which are incredibly warm and comfy too,

best thing i have ever done riding wise, when i put the ped’s on a few weeks back i spent a few mins a day practicing bunny hops etc, and me and my mate always spend the ride home form the woods practicing our wheelies, oh i’m 43 and have been riding SPD’s for 12 yrs 😀

    depends,

If your house is older like mine circa 1900’s removing the cavity by filling it takes away the buildings ability to circulate air and remove moisture from the building fabric, this in turn can lead to issues with damp etc,the cavity wasn’t a mistake it was put in for a reason,

due to the rise in heating bills etc this is always something people consider as an easy to remedy option,

    newer houses don’t know,

I got slime tubes on my work bike , 700c , I ride through lots of glass etc with 28 wide semi slicks, they are a bit heavy but seem to work , i was having continous punctures every week since I got a bandwagon 3 months ago ,

Now all I need is a tyre that’s dogsh1-t resistant for my weekend rides in brickhill

just spoke to the bank again to put my mind at rest, i’m happy with the response by their fraud department, they are just on the ball at the minute,

as for using chainreaction, sometimes they really P1zz me off but life is all about choice and they have the choice i’m afraid, so i put up with the lies about delivery and the fact they use parcel farce as their main carrier.

CRC adverts in ASDA, not really where you would get a lot of dedicated mountain bikers ??, must have been cheap

don’t get me wong (sic) i wasn’t complaining just a little shocked how far the fraud on their site has developed, when I spoke to the bank they said they have been asked to block transactions which appear irregular,

as i normally use paypal, i thought ok , that must be it because its only a few weeks since my last crc purchase,
the bank said to retry in five minutes, so i waited then went for it again this time with paypal, it wasn’t having any of that and turned down the paypal transaction too !, so i went back into the merchant and payed directly using my banks CC, that time it went through..

i’ve never had any fraud against me and my iP address is good ?

try it, I’ve done 7 miles each way for 10 yrs, sometimes i feel i want to take the car but usually always end up riding,

low points are if going in for 6am i have to be up at 4:40am to get ready have a good breakfast etc,

and coming home after 13 + hrs at work i always think why am i doing this, after a couple of miles tho’ i know why i’m doing it, funnily enough i enjoy riding in the rain and the snow, although 2 yrs ago i rode everyday in -15 for two weeks, my usual ride takes me less than 30 mins but in that snow and ice it went up to 1-1.5 hrs on a good day, the worst was 2hrs !!, a good lesson in endurance and dressing correctly, Northwave Celsius a most worthy investment

wow, we had a guy riding one of those clelands join us for a few weekends up woburn last year,

i tried looking for info on his bike after hearing his wild and what sound unlikey stories, he is local to bucks !,

i have to confess i drew a blank, but after reading this i feel somewhat stupid, I’ve never heard of Geoff Apps which may sound reasonable until you find out:

i was born i Weston Turville, 2 miles from Wendover,

i rode up the woods with all my buddys on bmx’s from Wendover,

i went to school in Wendover until 1984 when i started working,

I attended the first Wendover bash in 1984 as a guest with Aylesbury CC,

hehe, god i’m 43 next week, i can’t remember squat from the 80’s , i think its a mental block to save me from images of new romantics and shite music.

    top post OP thanks

2nd week failed to make it but have been working 60 hrs a week for 12 weeks on the trot so need to get some rest sometime..only a few more weeks of long hrs left then back to normal..yippee

just washed my road bike for work…soon going out with the girls to the park, will be taking my sovereign with flatties to try my new 5.10’s out, bunny hops wheelie practice etc..

i also dumped my 819’s for flows this year, the flows are much lighter and wider and look just as good if that means anything, although the quality of finish is better on the mavic’s IMO,

i’ll be sticking with flows from now on, i run tubeless ready tyres but with tubes in and they ares till lighter than the 819

yep spearfished and snorkelled there, nothing to see but a few flying gunards, usual fished to death reefs etc etc, there is one ok’ish place it ‘s just north of Sandy bay hotel i think, folkestone marine reserve, i did visit it, it was a bit sh1t !

if you want good snorkelling diving etc, you have to head east, far east, i went to flores in Indo, nowhere else i have ever been anywhere in the world comes even close to Labuanbajo. you want sun fish as big as cars thats your place, will never forget spearfishing off Seraya and being in a shoal of 1000’s of barracuda all adults with very sharp teeth i had a very large speargun but felt very much out of my element and totally in theirs !!!
