i can’t wait for the first race, i saw Nico driving the car at silverstone 2 weeks ago and it does look tidy in the high speed corners, i think/hope Lewis will be able to place the car well, from what i’ve seen and heard from Barcelona it’s looking positive.

the way i see it there is only two guys on the grid that can put just about put any ‘good’ car at the front and stay there, one is driving a red car, the other is lewis.

i have to admit i wasn’t lewis’s biggest fan in the last few years, i though he moaned to much and made some bad excuses (especially the ‘is it cos i’s black’ incident-which i thought was more than a little cheap), but i have to say it took a man to leave Mcalren, the moment he did that he became one in my eyes,

    good on him i say.

i have a feeling this may turn out well, maybe not this year but in 2014 Mercedes will have the edge and lewis should be able to deliver.

I had a rather lengthy interview last year for a “government instillation” I had to fill in masses of vetting paper work for weeks before hand and do an online test that took an hr,

I was invited to attend an interview I turnede up early but was left for a whole hr in the gatehouse as the facility is shared with another agency and they failed to inform the second agency of my arrival,
That little issue out the way I was led into the ‘inner sanctum’ ,
After coffee I was introduced to the first interviewer a occupational psyhiatrist, an hr went by really well,
More coffee and my second hr of the day was spent with an interviewer from hr, that went well too,
More coffee then I was introduced to the two men who would be my mangers,
By this time I was getting a little frazzled,
It started fine but then they asked me a rather odd technical question which ran along the lines of explaining who I would go about designing a automatic gearbox on a mountain bike!,
That was the nail in the coffin as I suddenly went into a rant on what a ridiculous idea that would be, I couldn’t be shut up 8| , I proceeded to undue all the good work I had done that morning finally being pulled up by the pair of them who then told me I would probably not be asked back,
    Money was crap anyway

Manufacturing engineer for the F1 team who will win the 2014 FIA constructors championship 😉

After 26 yrs in the trade and lots of bloody hard work it was a chance encounter and a little bit of luck that helped me get the job I had always dreamed of,

proof indeed that it’s not what you know but who you know in this game.

Food is not to great, mostly Italian and usual holiday fare, local speciality is rabbit, if you like history then it’s got it by the bucket load, hospitallers castles and fortresses are outstanding, ww2 stuff is also everywhere, Valletta is the most bombed place in ww2 but has retained much of its C15 character, I stayed at the Westin dragonara, major thumbs up ,

Gets bloody hot in the summer and very busy

As said dehumidifier needed, also you need to check what’s on the other side of the wall and what’s going on below, check the roof, gutters etc, you certainly have rising damp there, you have to find the source and stop it there,

I’m no expert but have had to deal with rising damp plus wet rot and dry rot when I bought my house, I gotta say that looks quite a lot, bet it smells all musty .. Yuk

With all the rain we have been having it may even be the ground beneath the house is waterlogged and the damp course is either non existent or failing ,

I’ve had to do a valley in my house in December to stop a leak in the roof and now I have paint falling off my ceiling in the end of the kitchen above some French doors,

How olds your house OP ?

I started on derbys then brought a astras, sharks, and a few others, they were all good , I stayed away from feathers cos I thought they might be too sharp, eventually tried them and have never brought anything else since,

They are justifiably the best, don’t be afraid they won’t feel any different apart from effortlessly superior and give a perfect shave.

I use ambersil, it’s used to clean f1 engine parts, I buy it from Cromwell industrial supplies,

I just stick a little in my chain cleaning type thing give it 20 sec or so, scrub the crank and mech with a brush using the dirty cleaner from the chain type thingy , quick hose down , dry , relube , done

    My brothers Christmas Eve,

His turn, we have done the last two yrs, ours a walk up Woburn, back to our house a massive spread of food, plenty of tea, alcohol and everything else,

His , a walk around the estate cut short as one of kids stepped in a dog bomb, back to his , 2 small hotdogs each and a small bowl of crisps and an even smaller bowl of Iceland’s finest onion rings between the eight of us, we didn’t get any of the crisps etc as they helped themselves first !

I faked a migraine , my wife drove me home (she knew) and went back to keep the kids happy

    hmmm,

I’ve lived in mk for around 20 yrs, it’s actually a fantastic place to live, plenty of things to do, i used to split my spare time between wakeboarding at willen and riding up brickhill woburn but now due to kids and age i just spend my spare time riding with my buddies at woburn or nip over to the chilterns and ride at wendover and out towards oxford,

not sure what the towns like in the evenings as i haven’t really sampled it since the kids came along but word on the street is still lots going on, no end of choice on places to eat etc,

traffic is paradise, people really slag it off and i have never understood why, would you rather have roundabouts our traffic jams?, most areas have four angles of approach as the city is designed on a grid system so you can always get to other parts of the city really quickly, i used to take me 10mins to travel the 7 miles to work by car, the same journey by bike(single speed ) would take me just under 30 mins relaxed, i would only cross two roads,

I now work in bletchley 1.5mls from my door, bletchley gets some really bad press but i’ve lived here for the last 10 yrs after spending 7 yrs in newport pagnel 9 (nice place ruined by the bloody motorway and the fact you need a car to get to the city, ) i do live on whats supposed to be one of the best streets in the whole city but i’ve generally found the people of bletchley a lot nicer than the people on the estates plus we have room to park our cars and nobody looks into our back gardens,

the estates all have a good side and bad side but both sides are like living in car parks, the difference is one side has 1 car and no driveway and the nice sides have 4 cars and a bloody small drive way, plus the garages are full of domestic stuff that they cant fit in the small houses that they think are much larger as they paid silly money for them.

the best guide to living on estates is watch for the amount of small one bed and two bed houses there are where you are looking, you don’t want to many as they are usually trouble rental areas, watch for the piles of bin bags and mattresses etc.

the best bit about bletchley for me is, getting the train which is a five minute walk, going to cmk ,walking up town , doing some shopping, going to the hub on the way back, having a few drinks and some food with the kids, walking back down the hill, 5 mins on the train, home again. £7 quid tickets all round return.

oh and woburn/brickhill woods/apsley etc etc, but not that carpa t heath and reach 🙂

Workshops manager and part time precision engineer based in Mk, we act as an overflow for the current f1 constructors champions doing the nasty bits they haven’t got time to mess with, also machine composite engine parts for the biggest engine builder in brixworth and a few other teams, also make commercial bits for satellites, bits and pieces for the government and its agencies etc etc,

Long hrs especially as we are at RB’s beckoning call , why do they always call at 530 on a Friday ?

I hate hardened Ti it doesn’t do as its told,

On the plus side I do get to go to the factory 3-4 times a week and today got to see the new reception and the new trophy cabinet, I went back to my car to get my phone and got some pictures,

Really should get a life !

Blimey daisy , you need to find your trigger, mine is dehydration just everyday lack of fluid not just after riding etc, that is my primary, secondary triggers for me include hunger, tiredness, stress and some other stuff like some foods etc,

If you have them every Saturday you should be able to find the cause, it took me 30 odd years to realise why I was getting them but then again Dr’s were crap and there was no real awareness , communication and nobody had invented the Internet,

I very rarely get one these days, but for the first 30 yrs of my life I used to get one at least twice a week.

    Good luck

Wolf style ? On the side swing out ?

I have a puma 110 with 7 seats , can’t fit a bike in without a huge amount of effort , I used to have a ex mil 110 before and could get a couple in the back of that ,

Lots of good reasons to buy one but as a bike carrier only , unless you have a trailer just buy a van,

Don’t forget 100 quid to fill the tank and I usually get around 380 miles to it,

One of my mates also claims he found a mont blanc pen in the garden of a bloke he was working for a few years back but I always thought he stole it from the guys house, I also saw him pick up a twenty pound note from outside his sisters boyfriends parents front door which I suggested he should give them back as it was clearly theirs but he refused and said finders keepers etc, he hasn’t been my friend for nearly six years now and I’m bloody glad too, theiving sh1t bag

In the road on my way home from school in ’84 , a very nice but slightly scratched seiko stainless calculator watch which at the time cost around 180 quid ! The bracelet pin was missing which I guessed was the reason it ended up in the road, next day swapped it for a Sanyo personal stereo and headphones with dolby watchamecallit and built in radio ( cost around 70 notes at the time and was well flash and a pile of notes around 50 I think,

Local fat millionaires greedy son was the buyer , he had to have it the fat muppet, he’s still a fat greedy so and so but I’m pretty sure he doesn’t still have the watch , I spent the cash on bmx parts 🙂

Slightly off topic but sort of the same vein,

When at school some 20 odd yrs ago one of my mates who lived around 15 miles from school would occasionally steal his brothers 250 trail bike to ride to school, we were 15 at the time , anyway he got a little cocky with his family rentals and when his dad started to use the wife’s car instead of his own for going to work my friend John took it upon himself to borrow the old mans car instead of his older brothers bike, he got away with it for quite a few weeks too, parking the car up a few streets from school and always returning it home around 430 after school, he eventually got caught when he overtook his dad on a country lane while returning home early from work one day, another mate of mine also borrowed his dads car and parked it in sOmeones garden after jumping a ditch at a t junction he misjudged, I never borrowed my fathers car but I did borrow my brother Vespa 90 which I left buried in a hedge,

Oh those were the days eh, hehe

Went over the bars in super slow mo two weekends back, only 2nd off road ride since breaking my right wrist into little pieces and having a forced 5 month sabbatical ,

Hurt a bit but realised it was due to being a little scared, put the fear behind me last weekend wasn’t easy but felt much better and apart from clipping a tree with my bars during a rooty decent I got home in one bit a lot happier 🙂

    Bucks ,

Lived in herts or bucks all my life, have been to some amazing places but my heart always pines when I drive through wendover, Halton and Aston Clinton , the biking is not bad either with Aston, wendover and Woburn ( technically in beds I think) .

Hw100 thumbhole rifle with hw silencer and very tasty MTC viper 50mm optics, set up on shooting bean bag in daughters window, as far as i know it’s legal i’ve never done anything to it and i’ve had it from new, i only shoot hw pellets as i gave up on JSB’s as the quality had gone downhill a few years back,

shot that door as a back stop many times before and it’s never gone through, saturday it did ?

it could be weather specific ?

haven’t had the gun tested in a few years but they are known to creep up and are bang on the limit with hw ammo,

would happily post a picture if i could be arsed.

as mattsscm said just wait until you can get them safely,

i have the same issue here but with a very long garden complete with a footpath at the end, my garden has a full width brick shed but either side of that is trees and bushes, i know if i take a shot past the brick or above, the angle would be perfect to put a shot into a passer by’s head,if i shoot over the shed profile the shot will carry into the garden behind it on the other side of the path,

i wait until the flying rats land in my kill zone which is any where below the profile and sides of the shed backstop, i have taken three in the last 2 months and a total of double figures in the last couple of years,

a good silencer is worth the expense too,

just as a guide i put a .177 pellet clean through my 3/4” shed door last week chipping the paint off my compressor receiver in the process, that was after it had debrained the pigeon at 30 meters, the shed door is 55 metres from the aiming point.

be careful, you don’t want to be visited by the police and you defo don’t want to end up wounding someone. that would not go down to well at all.

i have a confession, i have been making parts for one of the aforementioned bikes today, i can confirm as an engineer that it is Sh1t, over engineered and designed by a bunch of idiots, or at least drawn by a bunch of idiots,

i spend my days manufacturing parts for a certain f1 team so i feel i can tell the difference between something that is good and something that is crap novelty.

Broke my wrist ( radius 6 ” plate, ulna distal fracture 2 pins, two metacarpals , 2 fingers and associated cuts and bruises , 12 hr op etc etc) in late march , been back on the road bike 3 -4 weeks but still no offroad , seems a long time but being patient and looking forward to getting back at it, bummer as it has taken me years to get to the level I was at before the accident and I’m in my forties so recovery was always going to be a long process,

Keep your chin up and enjoy the rest period 😉
