    hmm.

here’s my list of faults for my Mercedes. i’ve done 33,000 in it since new 2013………

hers my list for my last british car a new landrover XS 2010, from new as well.sold it at 26,000 miles

    1. leaking windscreen (warranty -tried to fix and just made worse)
    2. leaking bulkhead into passenger footwell (factory fitted as standard across the range) (warranty also failed to cure)
    3. paint failure above rear passenger door, (resprayed under warranty.)
    4. rust causing paint to peel off front bumper and side steps within two years.
    5. roof rack as above.

i could now tell you about my swindon built Honda type R i had from new in 2002 but i would most likely loose the will to live. I sold that at 13,000 miles because i was so disappointed at the quality.

BUT who cares. it’s going to get chipped and rubbed and scratched but it will get a lot less chipped rubbed and scratched with the 3M tape and not that mambee pambee stuff

Been there twice and didn’t find myself tripping over the mange ridden dogs.
Although I did hear of someone local in grande baie getting killed when a stray ran across the road in front of his moped.
I can highly recommend late night 4 person van surfing past balaclava police station and also deep sea marlin fishing while hungover.

I’m out on mine for its third outing in the morning.
I built it over 5 months and it cost 6.2k !!
It’s got XX1, pikes, monarch debonair, XTR trail and Crossmax Enduros.

    Things I’ve found so far:
It feels a lot better than my heckler.
It goes uphill like my heckler.
It feels like it can attack everything.
The wheels feel better than a 26 but not bigger.
The bottom bracket is really low.
I’ve had to change my style to consider pedal striking everything in sight.
It seems to ride very deep into the rear shock(trying 210 in it tomoz).
    Everyone wants to touch it.
One guy told me he would trade his girlfriend for it, she was there and confirmed this.If my mates weren’t there I’d have gone for the swap.

If they haven’t lacquered that it will be green within a day or two. Well most likely a black sort of green.

You wouldn’t want to knock it either, it won’t hold its shape for long !

    I’m out.

I’ve just fitted a set of mavic crossmax enduro wts’s to my new nomad. They came with those fitted.
I’ve only ridden around 40 miles on them but they seem pretty good, plenty of grip in fact they have a sticky finish on the whole contact surface that’s quite tacky.
I’ve had no issues as yet but I won’t be taking them to morzine as they do seem a little thin walled compared to Maxxis.

I’d say they are worth a try.

He was the last plantaginate (I think I spelt that right)
the royal family that came after him was house of Tudor. I think something like that anyway, the Tudors were the next house until the first George they are German like our current queen,
I think the queen would be quite stand offish bearing in mind he had an ancestor present who according to law has a legal claim to the English throne.

i do a 70 mile round trip everyday.

standard of driving is awful, i tend to leave a good 10M between me and the car in front these days, its so much safer, usually results in me being tailgated pretty regular, I drive a pretty meaty car with loads of power and 500+ftlbs of torque but rarely do i overtake. i tend to sit back and watch the disasters unfold.

in the past week i’ve seen gritters on the M1 doing 80+ MPH while gritting !
another gritter trying to grit an A road in Milton keynes and loosing the back end on corner as he was going around 60mph round an opposing chamber with a lot of weight (really thought he was going to take me with him as i was coming the other way)

red light runners everywhere, nobody seems to give a hoot anymore. but then who’s going to do anything about the police are non-existent.

sat nav’s placed right in the middle of the windscreen or in front of the eyes, I’m sure that illegal. again who’s going to enforce it.

and locally there a dual carriageway that has an underpass so people can get from one side of the road to the other without getting killed or causing a RTA. We have a fair few eastern europeans and africans who use the bus stop and every morning and evening they are all over the dual carriageway, steeping out in front of you or running across scarring the sh1t out of you. someone is going to get nailed there.

marussia not only closed the Banbury factory but also sold it to the new Hass F1 team. quite a lot of the top guys are already working within other teams.

If Manor/marussia make the grid within the first three races then then get the 2014 constructors points and cash they are owed , any later than china and it’s all over no cash. They will disappear as quick as they have emerged from the ashes.

F1 is a money pit of unbelievable ferocity. it will eat those millions in a matter of weeks.

Did PDS last year and it was real good but busy and fairly wet. There was 11of us in 1 minibus, 2 transits and 1 zafira. We stayed at more mountains place in the town on the main drag.

The whole 5 days were better than I expected .morzine being quite a nice place even when busy. We didn’t really ride all the passports as our day to do the official ride was Sunday and it was properly wet and storms where crashing all around.
We just went over to super morzine and did chatel for a whole day.
Even though it was waterlogged, raining hard and torn up pretty bad we had a great time.

We are going back this year, 10 of us and staying with more mountain again but this year we will be there 2 weeks after PDS. Can’t wait

Sbit bland. Gave it an honest 2 mins waiting for something and got nothing.

As said before there’s some new amazing music around.
I like all kinds of stuff. Listening to a lot of d and b and modern hip hop at the min. Some great stuff. The other night I sat and watched royal blood. Jeez I love electronic music but these guys are so bloody good it blew me away, found myself trying to liken them to jack white but better and fresher

blown front axle is old hat. 2013 williams FW35 and Redbull RB9 ran it.

doesn’t really work that well. plus if a team go down the blown axle front route all the rear is developed around the front being blown, if as usual the FIA then ban it you haver to start from scratch again as the rear won’t work without front.

i do like the look of the ferrari though and the RB is looking quite sorted, but its the dark horses you need to watch. Williams are being very low key. they are stalking the competition.

    Possibly.
A few years ago I was going to order a shooting bean bag from a uk online site. But it was £100 + and was going to take then a week to deliver as it wasn’t a stock item although they were claiming it was in store?
I went online and ordered a better branded one from Cabellas outfitters in the Midwest, not only did they have it in store but it was only £40, They shipped using a yank FedEx express and it was at my door the very next day at lunch !! Plus that cost me £40 so I was still quids in and I took it shooting that afternoon which was why I wanted one so quick.

Not as far though. I often wonder how we get it so wrong over here but then I remember my mate Ben who works for ‘the farce’ as they call it.

not going on my baby blue either.

i like Hope, I like the way they try to get things right, but this crank is just not appealing at all.

it’s almost like a school boy project. using limited resource and know how to produce a crank which is nowhere near where it needs to be to compete with the giants of sram and shimano.

they want to knock those rapids up to 100% though, Mams look so unimpressive running that slow and chuck a few more tools in the carousel.

From 2003-2010 i had an ex army 110, I got it direct from service it was a 1986 ffr from the signals had a new engine 36k on it and was without a doubt 1 of the best vehicles I ever owned,
Easy to work on, cheap to fix only broke down once when the clutch failed and I paid 5k for it and sold it for 2.5k.

We had wanted a CSW for years so with that money and a hefty chunk more I bought a 2010 defender top of the line 110 XS with all the trimmings. Leather interior, landrover expedition kit etc.
It was without a doubt the worst vehicle I ever owned.
The thing that got me rattled the most was the rot. At 6 months old I expected none and at first it stayed at bay then over the first winter it literally started rotting in front if my eyes. Pain failing on the bonnet a hideous leak elbow the screen on the left side where the seal is and rust inside the cab blowing through the metal inside the cab.
I had it all done under warranty but they did a terrible job and the leak was worse than ever.
Had it done again and still no good, then the bumper started to bubble so I thought sod that and sold it.
I paid 27.5k for it with 6k miles on the clock and sold it at 24k miles for 18k.

My advice don’t buy a new’ish one go for an older model. I still miss my ex mod wagon

I love mine. Would most likely do it for free. I usually start at 7 am and finish at 7pm work through lunch. My contracted hours are 8-530 with an hr for lunch.
The restaurant serves better food than you would find in the best eateries, I get loads of perks including champagne for breakfast up to 20 times a year depending on how hard we all work as a team to achieve our goals.
The guys and girls are the best in the business and it’s always been a childhood dream to work there.

    Real carlsberg job.
Oh and the pays pretty good too.

I’m not sure what to do as well.
Building a nomad C at the minute and although I want a set of ENVE’s the price is ridiculous. I do believe that they are a quality product the finishing and construction seems top notch but IMO it’s the application that is at question.

Is a carbon rim right for off road with the current technology available ?

Does mating a modern composite with a traditional spoke \ hub construction devalue the added advantage of a lighter stronger rim ?

I recon it does. The most worrying tell tale for me is that they are happy to replace them for SFA if they break. That tells me two things.
Firstly they know they will break.
Secondly you have already paid for the replacement in the price.

oh yep i forgot that bit, it did rain twice in two weeks in september, once was for a whole 3hrs solid…without stopping…disgusting behaviour…

I went to barbados in 2003 in the off season, it rained everyday for around 45 mins at 5pm regular as clockwork..

as an englishman i don’t mind a bit of rain now and then especially if it’s warm rain in a lovely country. I wouldn’t let a few clouds and spots of the wet stuff put you off.

+1 for the dhalpuri, cheers Jam i had forgot about that !, go for a meal at the sugar plantation in port louis too, indian pavilion complete with sword wearing sikh waiters that looked like body guards, plus eating on pillows on the floor, bit pricey but an experience all the same.

yep i’ve been to Mauritius in september and also in november, as everyone says its a real special place very hard to describe as it’s quite unique both in landscape and cultures.

the thing is it’s very cheap if you can get put the resort hotels and mingle with the locals, favourite place was grande baie for restaurants and beaches with a nice sprinkle of laid back bars. still saying that my last visit was in 2001 !!!.

Calm down and stop getting all bothered about something wrote in a magazine.

The rules haven’t been changed yet and bernie won’t be seeing the Re-introduction of V8’s with a bit of KERS bolted on unless he wants to go racing with just williams, lotus, red bull, sauber and force india in a series that is out of date and unattractive to sponsors ???

Does anyone out there really think that Honda would just stand there and say nothing if they had just spent the best part of £100M on developing a V6 for just a season’s racing ?

Think about it people who makes all the noise in F1, Bernie, if he had clout he wouldn’t be shouting as loud as he does as he wouldn’t need to.

    Feathers.

Far better, consistent quality and very sharp. I started 4 yrs ago with a standard DB and derbys astras etc.
Switched to feathers and open comb DB a year in and never went back. Superb shave even with 3 weeks growth. Can shave my mug just once over and get a better result than with normal blades and plenty of passes.
I hack away a bit but it’s very rare I take a lump out my face.
Make sure you use a good soap it makes all the difference with sharp blades. A nice thick lather and you get a nice glide. I use those Turkish Arko soap sticks. Bought a 6 pack off flea bay for a tenner 4 yrs ago and I’ve just started on my second stick I shave around once a fortnight.

I have a stainless steel one I cut from a sheet of 5mm thick 316L plate then machined to size. but that’s just bragging.

Yep they stain or water mark very easy but baby oil is your friend, clean them with this and bobs your uncle. the original one I had was made from Inconel 925 but looked too dull besides it was never going to get that hot !!

the ‘black bag’ satellite is a piece of an insulating sheet that came free during a space mission. it was photographed falling away from the craft from which it became free. i can’t be arsed to dig up any facts but can be arsed to cut and paste this hilarious load of drivel. enjoy

according to monitoring agencies around the world, The Black knight satellite has been transmitting radio signals for over 50 years now (er chinny recon :D)

The USA and Soviet Union have shown particular interest in this “unidentified space object”

Rumors are that it was Nikola Tesla the first man to “intercept” a signal from the black knight satellite in 1899 after building a high-voltage radio device in Colorado Springs.

Since the 1930?s Astronomers worldwide have been reporting strange radio signals which allegedly come from the “Black Knight”.

In 1957, Dr. Luis Corralos of the Communications Ministry in Venezuela photographed it while taking pictures of Sputnik II as it passed over Caracas.

The story of the Black Knight made its media debut in the 1940?s when the St. Louis Dispatch and The San Francisco Examiner wrote about the “Satellite” on May 14th 1954.

The Time Magazine wrote about the Black Knight Satellite on the seventh of March, 1960.

In 1957, an unknown “object” was seen “shadowing” the Sputnik 1 Spacecraft. According to reports, the “unidentified object” was in Polar orbit.

in 1957. The United Stated nor the Russians possessed the technology to maintain a spacecraft in Polar Orbit.
The first Polar orbiting satellite was launched in 1960.

Polar orbits are often used for earth-mapping, earth observation, capturing the earth as time passes from one point and reconnaissance satellites. This would put the Black Knight in the category of a observational Satellite.

In the 1960?s the Black Knight satellite was located once again in Polar Orbit. Astronomers and Scientists calculated the objects weight to be over 10 tons which would be at that time the Heaviest Artificial Satellite to orbit our Planet.
The Black Knight’s orbit was unlike any other object orbiting Earth.

The Grumman Aircraft Corporation gave much importance to this mysterious “Satellite”, On September 3, 1960, seven months after the satellite was first detected by radar, a tracking camera at Grumman Aircraft Corporation’s Long Island factory took a photograph of the Black Knight satellite.

The Grumman Aircraft Corporation formed a committee to study the data received from the observations made but nothing was made public.

In 1963, Gordon Cooper was launched into space. On his final orbit, he reported seeing a glowing green object in front of his capsule in the distance moving towards his Spacecraft. The Muchea tracking station, in Australia, which Cooper reported the object to, picked up this Unidentified object on Radar travelling East to West.
It was the Ham Radio operator who apparently decoded a series of signals received from the UFO Satellite and interpreted it as a star-chart centered on the Epsilon Bootes Star System

According to the decoded message, the Black Knight satellite originated from the Epsilon Bootes Star System 13.000 years ago.

On August 23, 1954 the technology magazine Aviation Week and Space Technology released a story about the Black Knight Satellite that angered the Pentagon who were trying to keep the information secret.
NASA has released official images which apparently show the Black Knight Satellite.
