You will almost certainly be killed if you use that tyre at a trail centre

sh*t ive no life insurance either !! 😉

it cant be that bad surely. i no there is alot better tyres out there, but for what i need it for it cant be that bad, had a quick look at reviews at it seemed okay. im sure he wouldnt give bad info when the shop in question is his, and at 15 notes, not good for buisness im sure if its completly b***cks. my ralph will be back on at spring anyways ! just wanted to try something else and spend some money on my bike

    hi wozza

i went last sunday for the first time ( my first trail center as well). ive only been riding 2 months, and i went on my own.

I LOVED IT ! i did the red run which was really good and made me smile all the way around, lots of jumps and berms then i did the black which again was good, nearly lost it a few times, and i was so knackered at the end of it as its about a 20k route for each run, but still enjoyed it.

beware though there is a alot of climbs and theres a 2 mile hike to the top (approx), but personally i loved it and cant wait to go back. carpark was £3.50 on the sunday i went and it was packed.

It’s a hot muggy day on the steep slopes of a Malaysian rainforest. About 60 feet (20 m) above the jungle floor, a small brownish-red acrobat ant clambers out of a nest hidden under the whitish-gray bark of a macaranga tree. Locking clawed back feet into the tree trunk, she follows an ant-laid chemical trail down the trunk to forage for insects. A monkey hurtles past, brushing her off. Falling, the ant wildly splays her legs like a parachute to slow her descent, and spirals downward, picking up speed. In less than a second, she reaches terminal velocity, about 4 mph (6.4 km/hour), and falls at that speed until she hits ground. She crawls away — unhurt — to search for a chemical path back home, high above.

How do ants fall such vast distances and survive? Easy. Two factors save them:
    – They have so little mass relative to their air resistance that they fall slowly and, therefore, have little energy to dissipate when they hit.
    – Their bodies are tiny deformable tanks, well designed to absorb blows.
    Falling slowly
Ants, like all objects falling through the atmosphere, have a terminal velocity that depends on their shape, size, and mass. An ant picks up speed as she falls through the air. The air, in turn, resists her movement with a force proportional to the square of her speed. Eventually she reaches a speed at which the upward drag forces exactly balance her downward weight and she stops accelerating. That speed is her terminal velocity.
The terminal velocity of a small to medium ant is about 4 mph (6.4 km/hour), according to the physics department of the University of Illinois. An ant would fall faster, given a ball-like shape, but the ant’s no dummy. She thrusts her legs out, presenting more surface to the air, to fall slower, like a flat sheet of paper instead of a balled-up sheet. Indeed, a man has a terminal velocity of about 125 mph (200 km/hour) with arms and legs fully extended to catch the wind like a parachute and about 200 mph (320 km/hour) when curled into a ball. An ant slows similarly.
But, it isn’t falling that hurts, it’s the sudden stop. Hitting ground, however, reaps the big benefits of falling slowly. When the ant hits, she must dissipate her falling (kinetic) energy in order to halt. That kinetic energy depends on the square of the velocity — not just velocity. So she must dissipate much less energy on impact, than say a man falling at a higher velocity. An ant goes 4 mph when she hits — about 1/30th times slower than a falling man on impact. She absorbs only 1/26,000,000th (1/26 millionth) times the energy of the man (assuming an ant weighs 1/10th of an ounce (0.3 g) and a man 180 pounds (82 kg)). No wonder the man probably dies and the ant walks away, unhurt.
“Sufficiently small animals cannot be hurt in a fall from any height: A monkey is too big, a squirrel is on the edge,

on the roof of the car if your rails are the load bearing type they should be mounted onto the 2 strips that run down the sides of the roof, the 3m ones are on the roof it self. if its a second hand car and not bought new from nissan then just double check, but you can tell the differance by looking at them closely.

there is not much give in the sizes at all. i take large in normal clothing, but had to have xl as i wanted a slacker fit for layers. if you like a tight fitting jacket then stick to your normal size. hope that helps

thanks for all the comments, a good discussion as per usual. pro’s and con’s for both sides, anyways i bought my car

went with the petrol, i managed to get £500 off the price, making it just over 2 grand cheaper than the diesel and 25000 miles less on the clock. really happy with my choice, the coshcow fits my bill, as im not ready for a people carrier just yet.

thanks again, loads of good advice, will hear from me again as i need to purchase a bike rack for tailgate !! 😀

thanks guys, seems to be split like always 😆

i am heading no towards the petrol, infact going this afternoon to look at one, its about a grand less then the diesel with 30k less on the clock.

i always try and think of the resale in a few years and how would that affect the price say in 5 years time. less milage on the clock should sell for alot more than say with 50k more ?!

i drive a astra sri 1.8 petrol now, love it but just not practical now the kids are at school, went on hols this year and the car was rammed !

if the running costs are the same and not more than my sri then i could live with that.

it depends on how confindent you are. myself personally would square up back and never back down. i no thats probaly wrong, but i belive in an eye for an eye. usually most “bullys” think most people will cower and not react, but reacting maybe the surprise which defuses the situation, but if its not, you have to be prepared to cross the line, which comes down to how confindent you are….
