I keep looking at these for my Kaff, still not splashed out on new forks yet…..

Though Swapping the frame for a Soma Fogcutter would please me more….

I think I’ve paid near £8 for some of the limit collabs from the likes of Verdant.

Verdant’s brewery is nearby but it’s cheaper to go over to Truro Red Elephant Beer Cellar, they are cheaper….  Not had a can of Pulp is a while, might have to treat myself….

Maybe One more PSI was a nice DIPA

Defo worth checking out the  Panasonic TZ range then. 2nd hand TZ90 will come in under budget (new is £20 over)

A trip back to the wife’s place in Castlewellan isn’t complete without a trip to Zebedee’s for a Curry Chip, though a Chicken Supreme (basically chips and curry sauce with chicken….) is a good choice…

    MTB trails aren’t bad either………

Going grey would have been luxury, lost most of my hair by the time I was 24.

The little Fuji X30 (or the older X10 and X20) are great for a walk around camera, I got an X-Pro 1 as my main camera and the X30 to just take around with the kids, does a great job even with its little sensor. This is from the X30

Others to look at are the Sony RX100 range (I think they had a viewfinder from the Mk2) or something like the Panny TZ100 or TZ90 are spoken of well.

I don’t really know about DSLRs these days, but mirrorless wise it’s hard to go wrong with Fuji, but their lenses can be expensive without the likes of Simga makings lenses for them (hence I use vintage lenses now….)

M4/3 is a good system as well but I’ve not used it since the Panny G1….

I miss my 205XS, 1.4 with a twin choke carb was a right laugh. Easy to work on as well.

Suzuki Swift GTI’s are fun though I did have to push my mates into Tesco carpark when the gearbox went….

Charade Gtti are also crazy fun but rust is a killer on them.

I always regret not buying my mates mum’s Skoda Estelle for £50, bringing good money now.

Great thread, most of my “issues” are poor diet…. too many post ride ciders and ice cream…. and lack of knowledge in training.

My HR is all over the shop, Zone 2 while stretching my legs on a flattish run, but as soon as I hit a decent hill, one I can’t power up keeping moment  Zone4/5 is reached.

15-20 mile ride is normally averaged around zone 3/4, mix of poor fitness and Cornwall hills….

I use a Strada (800) for the night and a Sirius for the day. I don’t know if they still have their factory soiled sale but there were good deals on the Sirius and Flare rear light (think mine was £25 for the set!)

No…. got a set of Pearl Izumi X-Projects, nice shoes that I got at a good price but do give me numb toes towards the end of a 20/30 mile ride, had them a couple of years now and not stretched, even tried using shoe stretchers and manipulating them with a screwdriver handle. They will do until they have worn out…. then a set of Bont methinks.

Orbea Gain looks the most non ebike looking ebike…

Seen a Trek Super Commuter+ 8 in the metal and looked nice, would have liked it for SWMBO but the price put an end to that!

A hybrid isn’t going to set your hair on fire, I looked at the Auris as an upgrade to our Hybrid Yaris but decided we didn’t need to spend the extra outlay.

The electric motor pull is nice, but the engine is pretty much disconnected from your foot input, it gets to the RPM it requires to do the required task, and when you boot it boy it doesn’t sound good…well the 1.5 in the Yaris doesn’t. In and about the town they are a dream, no changing gear and no jumps between gears as in a slushbox, no hill starts etc, my wife who hated driving will actually go out in this without having a panic attack and doesn’t feel sick as a passenger in it, taken it on the ferry to Ireland from Cornwall a few times now near 70mpg on runs.

But we’re turbo pleased with it, had it 4 years and would recommend a Toyota Hybrid to anyone, old man bought a Yaris Hybrid last year, and some of out white fleet was Prius, drivers seemed to like them on the airport runs. I wish I could warrant changing my RAV4 D4D to the Hybrid one…. I’m passed my days of driving about like my arseholes on fire.

Not for everyone, try and get one for a couple of days, Toyota down here let my old man have one for 3 days to try before he gave them any cash.

Even though my old man has been a RAC patrol for 42’ish years I’m with the AA… only because they came with my bank account….

Last time I had to use the RAC (2009) they were faultless for my wife, she pulled the tyre off a Honda that didn’t have a spare and they were with her within an hour.

Both are pretty similar, they are nothing like the companies they used to be, Kights of the Road and 4th Emergency Service is all out of the window, it’s all stats and targets, My old man is glad he retires soon.

Sorry, no experience but looks a nice frame, if the claimed frame weight is correct the 1.9kg for frame and forks doesn’t seem bad for a steel frame? The GCN custom made frame was 1.8kg IIRC.
I like the look of the Stelvio and Elan framesets (I’m a disc convert), but probably heavier than my Kaffenback which is already 2.2kg frame only…

    Sorry for the useless reply…

I could probably get 34 or even 35’s in there methinks, 33 is as about as wide as I’d like to go in comfort.

Very little mud clearance, I could probably get a pencil around most gaps as most.

These Panaracer are new but rode with Spesh Tigger Sports in 33c during the last couple of winters fine.

I stuck with Toyota again last year, don’t think I’d have anything other than Toyota or Honda atm Fabia VRS was fun but I prefer a timing chain….and a duplex one at that…

My 2.2 RAV4 (if you look at a Toyota 2.2 get one that’s had the engine recall…) done 3000 miles in June and didn’t miss a beat returning 57mpg and no change in levels. 75K on the clock and paid £5500 last year with full main dealer SH.

Almost bought a Hyundai I40 estate with the 1.7 but they get an issue where if the DPF doesn’t regen they dump fuel into the sump…. so walked away from that…

My boy was diagnosed when he was in nursery school, on the higher functioning side of things, was the best thing we have done as it’s has made his life so much easier and the school was able to prepare in advance of him coming (small school down in Cornwall)

Wouldn’t change him for the world, now about to leave year two reading on AR level 4.2, yea we get the odd emotional issues, especially when asking him to redo homework, that causes explosions… but he’s brilliant to put it simply.

We think my daughter has some emotional issues…. worse so than the boy but her social side is fine, just gets rather angry…. like her mother……

I’m on my 2nd (third if you count the one my father had when we were kids….)

I bought an upgrade kit when I got a bigger car to rake mine from a 2 to 4 bike carrier, can’t say it’s ever disappointed me, the only thing I don’t like is the wheels overhang more on one side due to the offset to get around the spare wheel….

Bikes don’t move in use not had an issue with them swinging or bashing together, the strap holds them into place well even with a paint protecting rag in place.

Number plate hanger is a bit pants but with a strategically placed bungy, it also doesn’t move.

Handy also if you want to tow a small camping trailer, that is if your nose weight isn’t completely thrown off….

I also like that it comes apart into nice sized bits I can hide in the secret compartments in the boot.

    Philps for a decent pasty

As a local I don’t rate Philps….. prefer Horse and Jockey over in Helston… but I did move from the south coast to the north….

Fat bike from Hayle to Godrevy along the beach would be a blast though.

I’ve done it on a chubby bike, Godrevy – Hayle – Godrevy was a blast got some cracking looks.

Hayle cycles used to rent out a fat bike just for that job.

Worth checking to see if it’s Euro 5 or 6 for emissions as the Euro 5 and less will probably be subjected to future restrictions on use in towns/cities.

Try not to go to Cities if I can help it…. should be alright down here in west Cornwall.

Well done a bit of traveling today and looked at some cars on the boarder, got a deal on a RAV4.

Thanks for all the tips and advice, in the end went with the car I thought of first.

Tried 2 X3’s today, both 07 plates with 91 and 91K on the clock.
The 1st hadn’t been drove in a while and smoked until warm which I didn’t like the sign off… but apart from that they road ok felt nice etc just the service history in the back of my head for both and their turbos….

CRV seems very dated inside more so then the RAV4.

i40 seemed best of the bunch tbh, nice inside and drove alright, nothing special but a lot of car for the money.

    500kg on the Clubman ;) 1.6D is a N47 engine…

I know what my old man would say (41 years RAC)….Toyota or Honda…… just found the RAV4 like a bigger version of my Mk1 Yaris… if it was similar to my Mk3 Yaris inside I might have been more tempted.

Going to pop down look at one tomorrow, also a CRV, i40 and Yeti all being well…..

Apologies if it’s been done, but if it’s the one with swirl flaps, any BMW specialist should be able to change for blanking plates. Cost me £150, was about to fail apparently and I got 100,000 miles more before I sold it

I’ve been looking at those, the X3 I’ve been looking at has the M47, so less fragile timing chain and swirl flaps which I was looking to do myself, seems a easy enough job, could do it in work to pass the time….The ones I’ve been looking at are between 80-100k so might be ready to go bang…I’ve seen plenty 56/07 plate ones doing the rounds down here.

Petrol Yetis are 2wd, given you looking at 4×4’s, this may not be what you need

Only been looking at 4×4 for the towing capacity, I’ve managed with a Yaris so far. It’s only occasionally I have to get out of a wet field…

I was going to suggest a Fiat Panda 4×4 but figured it might be too small. They’re weirdly charming and they seem able to tow what you need.

Had a look at Panda’s before, only a 400kg un-braked limit, same as my Yaris.

A normal hatchback would do the job but most have an un-braked limit of 450-550kg. I could get a smaller trailer i suppose… but then I could do my hobby….

    This is my biggest load….

But it’s normally one more this size, which me and the wife use to lift out of the boot of the car…. she used to play Camogie though….

Been thinking a bit more off field….. Just looking on parkers at what I could tow 600kg with.
A 1.2 Skoda Yeti is legal to tow what I need…. And probably all the car I need. Just a bit over budget and tow bar fitting looks a PITA.
But petrol would squash the worry of dpf clogging on a 10 mile (20 round) commute though hills and a30 around here normally warms a car up quite quick.
