Finally something on singletrack I might have a useful input on!

My anorak hobby is restoring and researching vintage engines, with that I write a bit for Stationary Engine magazine, think Have I Got News For You magazine of the week…..

A good starting point for playing about is a little Suffolk Punch engine off a lawnmower, plenty of spares and cheap to pick up.
Something bigger the Lister D is the stalwart of the engine line up, though prices are increasing for them they are a favorite among collectors (not me..)

If you don’t mind buying from China lots of collectors have had fun with these little hit and miss models. I’m yet to buy one….

    https://www.banggood.com/Eachine-ET1-STEM-Upgrade-Hit-and-Miss-Gas-Engine-Stirling-Engine-Model-Combustion-Engine-Collection-p-1430588.html?rmmds=search&cur_warehouse=UK

Another area to look is Stirling/Hot air engines. Great for running inside, you can get simple ones that run on a cup of tea to stuff like the Ryders that will cost you many thousands. There is some nice UK models that done break the bank.

If your near North Wiltshire I might have a little 2 stroke I could pass on to grow the interest/hobby, but I’d rather not see it thrown in the metal recycling bin once the fun is had….

    Mistakes happen.

Given how many transactions they do a day, it is not surprising that a few happen unfortunately.

Indeed, but would this one come under false advertising listing one and delivering the other? Considering they don’t even list this bundle on their website.

It’s annoying it’s something the wife ordered as she is useless with dealing with anything….. she will probably get it sent back rather than a voucher or partial refund.

This is the set I got, which is the same price but it’s not what they listed, if she knew it was this set she would have ordered the Garmin 520 Plus.

And yet you look at the cost of the US (right wing) and UK (left wing) health services and the stats are totally unambiguous, the socialist model is far more efficient in terms of cost per person or per operation.

Are we allowed to laugh about these things?

I’d love to get a Hillman Imp and put one of those in each end, 4WD with about 200 HP.

But the standard Imp engine is so fun! Though these conversions will be the future of savings these old cars, especially with E10 fuel on route…

It’s the working class ones who puzzle me. It takes very little intelligence to conclude that voting tory is against you’re interests if you’re working class, and yet they still do it. I can only conclude that it’s down to a perverted sense of pride and machismo, for the men at least. Voting labour is seen as weakness, and an admission that they need help, so they vote tory because it supports their false self-image of ‘hard working man standing on his own two feet who doesn’t need charity’. That and it allows them to be racist and sexist too. None of that namby-pamby political correctness snow-flakery. It’s quite pathetic.

This comes to mind, maybe not quite to the extremes as America.

Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires

Must be your area, I’ve had 2 deliveries after signing up beginning of the month, one mix pack and one taster pack.

Not blown away with the beer selection so far, but it cheaper than me picking my own beer….

Seems mad to me the number strolling down the centre of a national speed limit lane with their dogs off the leads, normally it’s quite busy with commuter, vans and tractors while it’s quieter there is still people going down it and they don’t seem to care. How many points is it for taking out a family and dog?

M3/4 would be my choice for a kid. One of the early Panasonic G, GF or GX can be picked up pretty cheap and are a better fit for kids, plus a good range of 2nd hand and aftermarket lenses. I had a G1 when they we first released and they are perfectly capable cameras and simple to use, what you see in the viewfinder is what you get.

Go S/h. Loads of mint condition bargains about

1+ wouldn’t bother going new for the price vs the amount of time them have them unless you get a stonking deal.

Squish bikes are quite nice and the Carerras are fine. I did want an adult version of my boys Early Rider Belter….

Lee Cooper did the work on my frame before I bought it, disc brake tabs and shortened head tube. Looks a good job.

I wouldn’t have another Dyson again, last one just made it to the other side of warranty before it started playing up, I ended up doing my best Pete Townshend impersonation with it, only other thing I’ve done that to is a Flymo….

Binman, standover in the only issue really, I did have to hack a inch of the end of the seatpost. I’ve got a longer stem and seat post for when he grows. I’m happy, He’s happy!

With a bit cut of the seat tube you can get the saddle to 720mm and the standover just a bit in front is 670mm (thats on a 401 I think they are pretty similar..)

I just bought a 2nd hand 401 for the boys 9th birthday, his ISL is about 62cm and I bought it knowing it was going to be too big… having a measure he should be able to cope with it in the garden/to school but I wouldn’t take it on any tails like it.

Happening with everything, in my other hobby if you can post it items are brining 3x what they are usually worth.
I keep getting tempted to build a hack single speed but not in this market.
