I shall mostly be putting my Singular Swift back to singlespeed.

Just noticed Planet X has the Kaffenback at £650 until Sunday again, I think the straight bar is cheaper again.
Nice bang for your buck there, plus steel is real……

I’ve only ridden my Kaffenback equipped with Apex a couple of short rides so far, works as a groupset should, can’t comment on longevity only thing I can say is the shifters might take a little getting used to.

All depends how die hard shimano you/your friend is.

I’ve seen it reviewed as above tiagra and just below 105 in terms of comparisons between groupsets.

Planet X sometimes has offers on the Kaffenback, I just got one at £650 with Sram Apex groupset . Not really a CX but would be up for the job.

I dont think my frustrations were helped by the fact their computer system wasn’t sending me emails, so I didn’t get any confirmation emails/invoice etc only contact I had was through help tickets/phone.

It maybe trivial but having 2 toddlers I don’t often get to spend a chunk of money on something new and shiny for myself, this is my 1st new bike since they brought out the 10th anniversary Orange Clockwork in Green (98?), and stuff I buy normally gets ends up damaged by the terrible 2, so it’s a bit disappointing to have something turn up already tarnished before I’ve taken it out in anger.
TBH I dont expect anything brand new to turn up scratched really, I do buy shop spoiled but at least then I am told about the damage.

Sadly the Kaffenback is a posh brand for me  I’m not too fused and am very happy with the bike, I just feel I would mention it at my LBS (who had a nice Cross Check sadly far too small!) if I got it from them, and they would sort it in someway. Just thought it was worth mentioning to PX.

Sorry this is a week old just venting a bit of frustration, the bike isn’t due to arrive yet but…. I liked this little comment from their Website.

“If you order a bike please note that all our bikes are custom built to order. When you order a bike, it is scheduled into the ‘build queue’ and you will be notified of a bike build (birth!) date. We keep you informed every step of the way; currently the build queue is 6 to 8 working days”

Build time is 3 to 5 days atm, but I am yet to receive a email from them on a Kaffenback I ordered on Friday, the only correspondence I have had from them is from the help ticket I submitted.
Saying that the bike has progressed from picking to packing (not build phase?) doesn’t help I forgot I was going on to visit the out-laws next week, I did email them asking to change the address but they cant as it’s my 1st order, except I’ve order wheels before now…. so am hoping it will be here by Saturday…..If not I will have to call Yodel to see if they will keep hold of it for a week, Joy!

Anyways again sorry to bring up a old thread, thought it better then another “Oh No Planet X/On-One thread”

Got the light in this mornings post, for the price I don’t think I can complain, unit seems very well made, feels a nice item in your hands. Comes with bar and head mount and a extension cable.

It’s quite a nice well made unit:-

Had a dry run outside, not quite a dark as I would like to test them but made to, very much a spot beam with a bit of side spread.

All in all for about £40 it seems a good buy, yes there are ones from China for cheaper, but if you need one in a day or two these seem a good option.

Will give a update when I have ridden with them a few times in the pitch black.

Scratch that I have a blue one coming  that seem very helpful over the phone, he doesn’t have stock control on the website so takes them down when he is running low, he has green or red in.
Should be here tomorrow, will get some pictures up and try and do some picture at night.

Edit:- oh and the Electron turned up today, seems very bright as at £16.15 from Merlin at the moment seems good value, had me seeing spots for a few moment…. The only negative I see at the moment is the switch is a little sensitive for my fists of ham.

Will update when it gets here.

    C&B

For the price if it last 12 months it cant be to bad! Plus if its any good I might upgrade to two.

Bought one of these for the rear,

Going to look at one of the single 1200W C&B SEEN lights.

Well if I cant find my front lights I may go for a single unit, and see if I have some red lamps down mothers to plaster my back end with.

The road is quite quiet, as its runs along to the bypass, plus at 330am I wouldn’t expect a lot of traffic, I wouldn’t like to piddle someone off that time of the night, might not make it to my destination…

    Cheers for the advice guys!

Hmm maybe, in some ways I think bugger them…but with the driver head on can see where it would be a problem.

Thanks Guys, I may have some rear lights down in Cornwall, I got a Kong Skink and a cheap on mounted in my helmet.
Im a little annoyed I demolished my Fibre Flare when I binned of on a charity event…
I might also have a front light but its missing the charger, I think its a NiteRider, but its about 12 year old now, if not more.

Will see how it goes, the chaps at C&B SEEN seem very helpful, which is nice, will see if I go for just a Front, or a set.

I was going to get some carbon ones but after a few rides I felt I didnt need to, handles the climbs out of the valley fine, I was going to get some carbons to take some of the vibrations out, broken wrist is a bit sensitive.

Any other option? Im quite tempted about the Magicshine 816 but the bar mounts worry me, The Terra are nice looking light but I might as well spend the extra bucks for the power!
