Looks similar to my C&B seen light which has been grand for the price.

Was out for a few years, only things I noticed was more suspension, More gears and slacker head tubes.

Oh and better protection, which can’t be bad!?

Well they went for the Diamondbacks, one of my coworkers managed to get them with an extra 2% off from somewhere else. Bit annoyed they didn’t give me the chance to approach the more local bike shop to see if they can match it… My fault for having leave I suppose!

    BB7 discs

Got them on my steel stead and tbh I wouldn’t go out my way to buy a bike with rim brakes again.

Bought a set of these last month.

    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/rockshox-recon-silver-tk-solo-air-suspension-forks-29er/

For budget forks they are fine, a tad heavy and the decals seem a bit cheap but for air suspension on a budget they do the job and come with a remote lock out.

I can’t use SPD’s because of my knees, but fine Time and or Speedplay frogs. Been using Time ATAC Z’s for a few years now, tried them as normal flats for a while and kept slipping off…

But nobody has actually been injured by a disc rotor yet.. One guy crashed into non disc brake bikes and has blamed the rotor and another guy can’t actually recall what he hit.. And from his injury it seems unlikely to be caused by hitting a rotor. Do the benefits of disc brakes outweigh the likelihood of getting injured by a rotor or is it just resistance to change and new technology?

Agree with this, it’s easy to blame a new technology especially one they don’t really want.

If the Kaffenback is too utilitarian:

There is always the Bish Bash Bosh….especially if you want to use your budget….

    http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CBOOBBBRIV1/on-one-bish-bash-bosh-sram-rival-1-hrd-adventure—gravel-bike

Or with a few more gears

    http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CBOOBBBRIV22/on-one-bish-bash-bosh-sram-rival-11-hrd-adventure-bike

They announced it just after I bought my Kaffenback and wish I waited as these look ace!

I’ve got a Kaffenback 2 for a do it all (road/gravel/commuter) that has rack mounts, fast down hill….thanks to the weighty steel frame…. and disc brakes sure do stop it, as comfortable as a bike can be.
I like the classic looks as well though I kind of wish I went for the coffee colour… I’m fat enough not to worry about the weight of the thing…. if you can look past that it’s a very capable and comfortable bike, I thought it was well specked for the price and often comes up with discounts, I think I paid £650.

I’ve also just bought a Altura Vortex saddle pack for my emergency/commuter kit, will be used on this and my MTB for when I go Dartmoor and the like. One of the cheaper saddle packs about but I might add an extra strap as it did seem a bit wobbly, though I might not have it set up right. I do need to use it in anger.

I’ve done two more rides since, just my commute to work (9.5m), but still feels comfy to me only pain is my lack of fitness… my hip flexors are a tad sore.
Not had a issues with the rivets as of yet, but I’m not an “on the rivet” kind of guy.
Only problem is now is do I buy a 2nd for my Singular put up with switching them back and forth, at the moment the price (even 2nd hand) is putting me off buying another!

Sorry should have gave a bit more information, we have a sports budget in work where we can spend X amount a year on sporting goods for the guys & gals here.
We have just had 3 people (me included) trained up to MIAS MBL lever 2, so have the option to take people out on rides and covered by insurance etc, our bikes are just not up to the job.
We are looking for bikes that are capable of light cross country and up to a little bit of trail use at Cardinham and Lanhydrock, probably just the Blue routes as most people capable of the red routes will have their own ride.

As we can get the Diamondback for £400 they are looking like a good option, but i think they are at the top of works budget, so the VooDoo Bantu which we can have the the previous sale price + 10% British Cycling discount is looking like the other option.

LBS to the rescue….. Diamondback Heist 1.0 with 20% off, seems a good deal for the spec compared to the similar price Halfords offering.

    Thought I would add a little update….. I didn’t go fat stuck with 2.4…. gone Alfine though…..
Maybe some time down the line/next time the wheels need rebuilding (still using the old On-One Reet’Ards) I will look at a 27.5/650b+ as that look like a good option, sadly I’m running out of monies….

I’ve seen some corkers! Night shifts flyby!
    The Wild Women of Wongo
    Eraser Head
    Plan 9 From Outer Space
The One Armed Boxer 1 and 2
    Iron Sky
    The Toxic Avenger
But they are so crap they are hilarious!

Jupiter Rising is the worst film I’ve seen lately, Jurassic World left me cold as well.

Well I just ordered a set of Pearl Izumi X-Project 3.0 from Koo Bikes for £75.99, which I didn’t think was bad.
(they do a £5 code if you sign up to their news letter)

I don’t think I could go back to normal petrol car again, just got back from holiday where I rented a 1.2 petrol Seat and it was pants! my 10yr old Yaris Diesel (averaging 70mpg) piddles all over it much easier to drive especially up and down hills, I’m surprised how much I missed the torque of a diesel.
I do like my misses Hybrid Yaris though, she wanted a slush box and she likes Toyota it’s really easy to drive and 60+mpg isn’t bad from a Petrol Auto.
I wouldn’t bother with a standard petrol car again, had diesels since 2009 and not had an issue yet… touch wood….
I like the Honda and Toyota diesels my old mad (RAC) hardly see’s them, apart from batteries or flats, chain cam is the way to go IMHO.

Bought mine with Tesco vouchers, doubled them up and I think I owed a tenner.
Brillant bit of kit for the money, the update has improved them a bit, mine is no longer loosing its time.
Perfect cheap travel companion, my only problem with it is the battery life is very poor and screen gets dirty easily.

Ditched Windows in 2010 and wouldn’t look back. Had 0 problems with the MBP, was running fine until it had a quick trip off the table…. lucky insurance paid for a nice new version upgraded with 16gb of RAM, works great for my photography.

The only reason I wouldn’t recommend a MAC to someone is if they are a PC gamer, they are not great on that front.

Hayle Cycles had a nice Sanderson Soloist on sale in their window, I think it was done as low as £100. 18″ in white.
