Happy to be on our 2nd Hybrid. Misses hates driving but has to for work, she tried a Yaris hyrbid and loved it for the 5 years we had it, kids grew so she wanted something that worked the same so bought a Lexus NX, though I wanted the PHEV as her commute was going to be less, driving in-out of a valley twice a day might not have been on pure battery mind, but the only one that suited was the Mini Countryman PHEV which she didn’t like.

Nothing “eco-warrior” about owning one, the main driver just prefers to drive a hybrid over a standard manual or auto. The NX might be better than a standard petrol of similar size/weight but my 13yr old RAV beats it’s MPG on average.

WK reg is Cornwall, I wonder where it has been? That’s a lot of miles around Cornwall, high millage motorway miles I can live with, but Cornish roads?

I tried a 2nd hand Mk1 1.5 diesel Qashqai from a Nissan dealer. I was surprised at how bad it drove. Seemed to crash over the road, was awful and I soon gave the keys back.

Mk1s is getting a bit long in the tooth now? My Mk3 is 13 years old and I’m going to have to start spending on that soon, suspension bushes are starting to go, Toyotas are good cars though (I’m on my 3rd + a Lexus which is just a Toyota in drag), 60+mpg on a run, had over 70mpg on a recent trip from Wiltshire to Essex. I was glad my D4D had the engine rebuild by Toyota, they can be a bit of a time bomb if not done on the early Mk3s.

Mk1’s aren’t a bad looking bus, must be coming around as a Retro ride soon… if you can get a clean one and are happy knowing you might need to spend out on it they whey not?
    Looks good in blue!

Juin Tech R1s here, couldn’t believe the difference from the BB7s which I thought was good. The only issue I do have is fork judder one the front, so need to look at the pads and discs.

Since everyone and his dog are off to Cornwall

Yep, forced my hand to not go home (Falmouth area) for my grans interment.
Doesn’t look like we will be going home for a while yet, trying to convince my parents to evacuate to us for a couple of weeks.

Would have given you an extra point if you made your own gasket from a cereal packet, but nice work!

I re-greased the bearings on my trailer over the weekend, fingers crossed they don’t fall off.

I’ve got a Worx one, it’s ok… does a decent size garden on a charge but could do with being a bit heavier. Strimmer is decent enough though.

MTB yes, gravel bike no. I like having a place to rest my gut when I’m hanging off the back….

Whatever 1 a day is cheapest… tend to use one of the saline nasal (Sterimar?) sprays after a ride to blast out any pollen I’ve hoovered up.

The way lots of Valleys people announce their job:

    “I’m a plumber, I am!”

Always made me laugh visiting the outlaws in NI, my niece saying something like “I’m going for ice cream…. So I am.” or “I saw a dog….So I did.”

Few Cornish ones I enjoy, I got 2 books of Cornish slang as secret Santa presents one year.

    Tuss! – like calling someone a ****.
    Yew! – Hello
Two Scats Behind – someone who is rather slow, Two Scats can also be a nickname…. also use Cakey, soft in the head…
Costymuchdida? – How much was it?
Ellydoinov!? – What the hell are you doing!?
Waseecall – When your telling a story and forget someones name, “you know Wasecall”

There is too many to list, I enjoy them all, just don’t get to use them any more :( Sometimes with my parents but spending most the time with my grandparents I got used to speaking it.

The new one would probably have done better as a standalone film rather than a “reboot”, at least it’s not as bad as what they did to Robocop…
The original has a cult following and is peak Arnie, only other film I enjoy as much is Demolition Man…

You used to have a door that left a key in its lock?

Going out on a limb here perhaps but I rather suspect that’s not a feature of the door…

When it shut you needed a key to open it from the outside if it was locked or not.

Can’t say I noticed it any windier, tend not to notice it when you live on the coast in Cornwall as it’s always windy!

We used to have a door that did the same, after the first £100+ call out and seeing he just opened it by pushing the handle down from the inside I hid a bit of bent copper pipe in the back garden just in case…. it did happen again a month or two later….

    Good luck!

I’ve used it a handful of times now so thought I’d give a bit of an update.

Initial set up drove me mad, but after finding the PSA for Huawei phones and their bluetooth power management it was less of a headache. My Garmin HRM and B-Twin Speed and Cadence senors synced no issue.

First ride was a nightmare! couldn’t load a route from Koomot and couldn’t upload once finished. Turned out there was an outage on GPSRoute which the device relies on. I got it working by adding the route from my laptop direct to the device, Navigation was fine and easy to follow.

Second ride was great, uploaded from Komoot pretty quickly navigation was fine, just the route selection was interesting for a gravel bike and I forgot to press start….

All other ride fine, navigation was clear, gps held well and the upload/sync to Strava was quick enough for me.

All in all it does the job for for a Birthday present.

I’m in the same boat, current Huawei Mate 9 is nearly 4 years old now and it’s on it’s way out. Been a great phone but the lack of Google Play in the future is a no go for me.

I keep looking at the Google Pixel 4XL but that is a lot of cash to drop.

Misses got a free Key worker night over in a hotel in Cornwall, so we will have our anniversary away and might be able to go see mother and father at some point, Not seen them since my grans funeral in April.

Liked them on the MTB with a 1x but not so much on the road with a 2x. Might just be me setting it up but going back to round sorted out my shifting issues.

Fairly unfit/overweight guy on a heavy steel framed gravel bike with 42c tyres here….

Running Praxis Alba 48-32 with a 11-36 out back, bail out get is a tad to spinny but I do use it from time to time.
Only issue I’ve had from the Praxis is a bit of chain suck, find them quite nice tbf and the shifting is better than the Absolute Black on SRAM Apex they replaced.
Bought the Praxis 2nd hand so was cheaper than a set of SubCompact AB oval rings…

So ten days on finally got a reply, £33.99 gift card or full refund….. bit of negotation £60 cash refund and I find my own power and cadence sensors as they don’t have Lezyne ones in stock. At least I can start using it now….

Just incase anyone is interested in the Marloe they offer a 15% NHS/Forces (I assume bluelight as well) discount.

I was all set to buy and Undone until I seen the Marloe, I’m not too fussed by date as my current work watch doesn’t have one and I’m not working anywhere I need to record the date. My last job it was a bit essential but I could wear my smart watch there. TBF we’ve got the time displayed on a couple of walls so don’t really need a watch, just feel a bit naked without one….

I prefer the design of the Marlow but the Undone has an automatic movement over a handwind.

My HMT is fine.. just keeps stopping…. plus need a bit of retail therapy….

Well the wife doesn’t like either…. she thinks the Undone looks like a kids watch.

    Stuck between 2 watches….

    Undone

or the Marloe Coniston speed edition

    Marloe

I think I prefer the look of the Marloe but think I may miss the date….plus it’s a bit over budget and I can get cashback in the Undone…

Shouldn’t have come on this thread… looking to upgrade from my £15 HMT Pilot, got about a £250 budget so was looking at the Undone watches but I quite like the looks of those Seagulls. I’m sure the red star would go down well at work…..

Try to avoid generators , quite risky electrical devices when stripped of protective covers.

Or nice displays if you’re sensible.

    My collection of Generator sets.

1920s Barr and Stroud Single sleeve valve engine.

    1941 Stuart Turner R2.

And a 1960 Stuart Turner H1, last example of 15 made. Now on loan to Internal Fire Museum
