Just worried about it “pooling” in the tyre when it’s stored, I’m not too familiar with the gunk that goes inside.

alpkit gourdon has served me well, comfy and most importantly waterproof.

Just had a look at them… tempted to ditch some of my bags at get one of them, they look nice.

I’ve got a Lezyne allpack for my commute, I just liked the organisation, so I could have tools, tubes etc in one pack and clothes etc in another, each with their own place….
Though they are quite old now there is still some places with them in stock
http://www.tritoncycles.co.uk/accessories-c11/hydration-packs-c134/lezyne-allpack-hydration-pack-p12409
I can’t seem to find photos of the inside atm, I’m sure I bought mine from a review on here or a feature in FGF.

I can take pictures of mine if you like, survived a slide down the road with me on top…probably saved me some nasty gravel rash….

I’m yet to ride it but I’ve built this:

DSCF7891 by Stephen Williams, on Flickr

Didn’t want to part with my Singular Swift so decided to try and turn it into a commuter bike with the option of going off road (The monster cross FB page told me off for calling it a monster crosser of sorts… )
Went drop as I like drops for a commute, I tried a shorter stem but felt cramped in the drops
I’m running with big apples as they had good discount at the time on 29×2.0, do kinda wish I went 2.35 for the laughs.
Fingers crossed it works out OK for my 10 mile each way commute.

I’m a fan off steel, the bike that started it all was a 1999 Orange Clockwork in a lovely powder coat green, sadly don’t have photos… After that a P7, then a Kona Explosif, another P7, Haro Mary, Singular Swift orange then Blue…. once I got the Swift I stopped buying frames every years or so and had it for nearly 7 years now.

I couldn’t bring myself to sell my Singular after buying a new bike so turned it into my commuter/family/mostercross’ish bike.

In contrast a steel frame that is a bit dull….

I like the ride and the looks that steel gives, though Alu has come a long way and has some great ride qualities now I don’t think you can beat a steel frame for looks.

Stones hitting the down tube sound much better as well.

Yes but they are only good if they are calibrated.

Though FT and RFT are the only 2 torque settings you need……

I though the On-One Piccolino @ £400 when I read the title but having a better read it would seem it’s will probably be to small or you won’t get much out of it.

Not much option for 24″ wheeled mini-fat out there.
https://www.bikeswanky.co.uk/product/felt-cruncher-24-my16/

The odd Plus option for something a bit lighter?
http://www.tweekscycles.com/Product.do?method=view&n=3285&p=1227519&d=124&c=4&l=2&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Base&utm_campaign=Kids%20Bikes&gclid=Cj0KEQiAzNfDBRD2xKrO4pSnnOkBEiQAbzzeQUyjh7iIhc4TO0MLTzLyiL_sk64RKCnYRXEM10MHfVwaAtTW8P8HAQ

Probably smarter to get a small 26″ for longevity (Is there a budget 26+ out there yet?), but cool/fun factor with the mates I know which I would go with :D

Sorry to hear that, heard through the grapevine a friend of mine passed away recently, had some great times and being a fellow Cornishmen we got on well with both of us being away from home.

We got Dimondback Heist 1.0 as works Adventure Training bikes.

http://www.diamondback.co.uk/MTB/Product/?pc=1&pt=10&pg=14287

We found them the best bang for buck for us, we’ve had them across Dartmoor and around the local trail centres.
With a quick google there is a few around below £500.

Dorset_Knob – (See also Lefty forks. They can’t be right, either.)

Works for cars, aircraft…etc can’t be all wrong.

sq225917 – Praxis Collet type BB’s.

Been looking at those as I’m not 100% convinced on press fit though my Cannondale has given me no reason to complain, not sure they will work with my cranks though, don’t really want to spend out on cranks if I don’t need to…

Same problem with Pearl Izumi X Project..I’m size 9 so ordered the 10, didn’t fit at all felt like a size 8, popped up to the shop (60 miles but shopping trip the same time…) and had to go for size 12! Was too good of a bargain….

So fitted the final brake cable, chain and wrapped the bars….. not the neatest job but didn’t think I done bad for my 1st try… tbh I’m quite pleased with it, I did just trial in in the estate and regretted it, wrist is hurting a bit now….

It’s easy enough to change up, down is an issue atm but I’m in a cast…

DSCF7893 by Stephen Williams, on Flickr

I’ve got a shorter stem on order (though it’s not too bad atm, as well as spacers etc, might get it finished before I’m allowed to start cycling again…

3-5 years from the date of manufacture depending on who made it…. for something in the biking world that actual does it job I don’t mind spending out on a new lid, depending how dear your helmet is £10-20 a year isn’t bad return for protecting your head.

I usually run mine (2.35″) at 20psi. On rough tarmac and gravel that rolls really well.

Good to know, thanks! My bimble build is doing just that….. managed to rig up something for the shifter which will be anything but rapid… just waiting until my hand is free to set the hoods and wrap the bars, might go for a shorter stem as well…

Agree on Mondraker bikes, they seem to get reviewed well, but I too very much dislike the aesthetics, it’s that bent top tube.

Glad I’m not the only one…. thought I was going to get lynched..

It’s good we all have different tastes and require different functions.
I’m a fan of a nice steel hard tail and a friend of mine recently bought Mondraker which I think are ghastly looking bikes, I think it’s something to do with the bend in the top tube near to where it it joins the head tube.

The 3000 Lumen C&BSeen is tempting, I just worry about the batteries on the cheaper lights.

Those Fuji’s look great – X10 has a viewfinder too (can’t find it on CEX though)

CEX search is pants:
https://uk.webuy.com/search/index.php?stext=Fujifilm+x10&section=

Viewfinder in the sense it’s a bit of glass you can look through, you get a bit of parallax error like an old skool rangefinder, the X20 had information projected in it and the X30 had a LCD viewfinder.

If you can stretch your budget to £135 CEX has the brilliant Fuji X10, great little cameras, 2/3rd sensor is great.
Or that have the XQ1 for £85.
Only problem with the website is there is no picture, my local CEX said they could get the product sent to store if needed.

The Fuji XF1 might be found a bit cheaper.

I’ve not had an issue with WTB Bridgers, grips like the preverbal to a blanket. Weight might be an issue for some but I’m near 14 stone and my other bike has an Alfine….so I’m not fussed…. I’m yet to go tubeless as I don’t think I get to ride ofter enough at the moment, maybe in 2017….

Our Cockerpoo Dougal is about 18months now, cracking little dog, he’s a cross of working cocker and a miniature poodle. Fortunate for us he wasn’t half the price quoted on here…..
Would recommended them to anyone and I was a stern pure breed kind of guy, great with the kids (4&5) easiest dog we have had to train and super smart, though he is a sock thief…..
Who wouldn’t like a little Wookie!

When are we going to ditch the word “standard” in cycling, “platform” is the better term IMHO.

I’m a Plus fan, bought into 29er’s in 2009 and loved it from day one was running up to 2.4’s on them, this year I had a good deal on a 650+ (Cannondale Beast of the East 1) tried it for a couple of days before buying and really enjoyed it, so much so I parted with my cash.
I’ve been fast on my usual routes compared to the 29er but it’s not all about speed, I’m fastest on my road bike but I like my fillings in my teeth.
I’m not too fussed if it fades but I hope it doesn’t, I’m certainly not going to bitch and moan about another choice.

Not really, I ride flats due to a knee injury (SPD’s at the puffer flared it up big style – that was the last time I used them) and also my feet are a lot warmer in flat shoes.

That’s not an opinion, both of those reasons are pretty much facts.

I actually prefer SPD’s, but the two reasons above sort of influence me away from them.

Should try something with more float than SPD’s, CrankBrothers, Time, Speedplay frogs etc. Most people seem to default to SPDs but I found them bloody awful and after trying them know why so many people dismiss clipless pedals.
If I didn’t have 3 bikes with Time pedals I would get Speedplay frogs again, loads of free float to keep the knees happy.

Support as the scaphoid has rotated on the radius restricting the movement.
6 weeks in the cast so far come out next week and physio 2 days after.
I had the bone graft as it was non union (mended fibrously but non union) , as I was pain free until this year they didn’t see a need to operate until this year.
