Time here (and Mavic rebrands) Didn’t get on with SPD’s and wouldn’t bother trying again. Bought my Time ATAC Z Control 10 years ago 2nd hand and they are still going strong, I’ve had to epoxy a loose spring spindle but apart from that they live on.

Wouldn’t have anything other than Time now, sort of invested with all my bikes kitted out with Time….. though if I had the spare cash I would be tempted to go back to Speedplay Frogs…..

    Thanks for the input all!

Climbing works out about 1800ft in a return, most of the climbing on two hills near the start and end of each the journey, I rode to my physio appointment on the other coast yesterday and while just as hilly most the hills had a good run up so could get a nice run up in the big ring.

The 1st one on the way to work I can take the costal path and it’s a bit easier though the gravel uphill is a bit of work, adds just over a mile as well.

Been using a Garmin Forerunner 230 for a while now never really know what to do with the numbers and my HR shoots up pretty high quickly but drops back down just as fast after exercise.

I’m running 10 speed, I did look at putting a 36 in with a SRAM MTB rear mech as AFAIK the shifters have the same pull.

Turns out I’m weaker than I thought….. order the climber kit and I was quite surprised when I took my old cassette off it’s already a 11-32  specs on the website for the Kaff was 12-28 back when I bought it…. a bit embarrassing waiting to hear if I’m going to be out of pocket….

So only option is to get stronger…or fit MTB kit…. though the hills I’ve been worrying about I got up with a bit of effort and a couple of water stops…. so perhaps I’m worrying for no reason.

    Sram Apex – 50/34

Whereabouts in the country do you live that an 11-32 isn’t enough?
Best way to make hills easier is to eat less cake / drink less beer and ride a bit more regularly..

Perhaps I should try the 11-32 out before ordering new rings/cranks, just waiting for the kit to be delivered….
I’m down the bottom end of Cornwall. Sadly not been out as of late though starting to commute again around 22 miles a shift.

I’ve put a Sugino 44/30 chainset on my latest frame – with a 12/28 that should allow to do do most things I want to – it was perfect at Paris-Roubaix the weekend before last. I looked quite heavily into the new Praxis chainset but didn’t like that they used a proprietary small chainring set-up.

Yes that and their propriety BB is putting me off at the moment, what if they decided to stop supporting it…….plus it is handy to walk into nearly any shop and pick up a SRAM GXP BB off the shelf.

    Cheers, Steve

parcelforce have changed it – it’s now nearly £40!

Really? I managed to get a large steel bike frame and forks under the Parcel Force Express 48 with insurance for about £16.
    Got it a box 110 x 75 x 25

Just done done a quote today for the same.

Parcel Force was the easiest when I last sent a frame. Just dropped it to my local post office and it was there in 48hrs.

Exeter is shit compared to what’s on offer in Plymouth, really it is, it likes to think it isn’t but it is.

    *resident of Exeter

Don’t know stayed a couple of nights in both places, apart from the Barbican I prefer Exeter, it’s a further 15-20mins or so but I don’t need to pay to get into Devon…. though Temple pain atm… but better shopping imho which is the only reason we go tbh… we did explore as far as The Quay last time we were up, very nice down there.

If I was ten years younger without kids I would probably prefer Plymouth for the copious amounts of cyder on tap….

You can’t beat cap’n jaspers price for a cup of tea!

Only go Plymouth when we need something we can’t get in Truro…. even then it’s worth going a bit further into Exeter…… Only really go if we want to go to the aquarium….
It’s quite a nice walk up around Hoe park, some interesting history there.
Hubbox just outside Drake Circus isn’t bad for a post burger, though not the cheapest of places…

Not too far away is Buckfast Abbey, which is quite nice to walk around and grab a tea etc. South Devon Railway in the same area.

Exeter is quite a nice City, lovely walk around the City walls, and the under ground tunnel tour is well worth it.

Paignton Zoo is good but IIRC it was expensive last time we went.

Had a few now, OnePlus X was good for the money, just got a Huawei mate 9, now Huawei is available in the UK they aren’t an issue.

Only thing that disappointed my about the OP was the time it took to update the OS.

Mate of mine has had a few xiaoMi with no issue.

Walked into work while it was on….dreadfully scripted star in a car training bit…. Dolly Spring slating and then creaming over a Golf…. soon changed the channel.

After having an Alfine 8 and going back to gears (bought a complete bike for once….) I wish I could afford a Rohloff Thur axel hub as the engagement of the Alfine had spoilt me was magic compared to the bag of balls hubs my bike has fitted atm.

Couldn’t say I noticed and untoward drag took it across Dartmoor fine.

Not sure why so few people are posting re the WTB Bridger. Good few of us using them over here, and I’m not aware of anything but deep love for them.
We’ve got a good range of terrain over here every time we ride (rocks, flint, roots and slop etc) and they just work.

I’m running Bridger front and back with no issues really, still trying to dial in the pressures though….

Thanks for the info, just bought some GA2’s from a forum member, cheap enough to give them a go. I tried the GE1 in shop but wasn’t sure on them.

Just the thread I was looking for, my Cannondale ones are too hard/slim so was looking at either the Ergon GE1 or GA2, not sure the differences?

So finally got out on them for a cheeky hour they stayed up all week in the shed fine, checked my pressures before taking the kids school (16F – 18R) and by the time I got back the front was at 5psi… span the wheel drove it to the the trail put 16psi in again and no further issues.

Worked well in the local trail centre down here in Cornwall, took in the blue and low red didn’t have time to cross the road down to Cardinham for a more in-depth test run.

No issues to be had, will see how they hold pressure after a run out.

Only problem I had was a wash out on the front, not sure if too much or not enough pressure but it didn’t look like the side wall folded just lost grip. I’m still new to this tubeless plus tire lark.

Got some SRAM 9 speed in work if it’s any good to you? Been sat in my locker for months… it’s either X7 shifters and X9 mech or X5 shifters and X7 mech, I’m not back in work until Saturday night though.

I’m not sure how green it is but there are no hazardous etc warning labels, can’t see anything on the website to concern me.
Must be fairly “clean” to be used for agriculture I should have thought? Incase it leaks on crop etc?

@andyl thats the stuff, I got it from my local farm industries (or what was now Patch and Acre) Mole Vally was too far north for me….

Well they stayed up over night, the front one lost a few PSI on the valve but it soon sealed.
Got them pumped up to 20psi atm just to see how they hold.

    Good to hear ajantom thanks.
    I think FB thinks I’m a mad man….

Little worried I’ve not put enough in (150ml) but you can hear it sloshing about so can’t be that bad… might get a syringe and put some more in via the valve.

@jamiesilo thanks for the info, knowing how tight these are I am hoping they are going to be OK…. I pumped them up with my £3 track pump with the valve cores in no problem.

I’ve got a Garmin VivoSmart HR+ and did get a patch of sore red skin under the strap. The solution was to stop wearing it until this healed up. I’ve been wearing the watch everyday since but have found a few things:

    – Not having the strap too tight
    – Not worn it all the time, i.e not to bed
    – Taken the watch off and let it and my skin dry out if wet/sweaty
    – Rinse the watch now and then and let it dry
    – I found that the strap itself was ok and it was the rubber retainer loop that was more irritant. This was on the edge of my arm so moved it in board a bit.

Thanks will have a chat to her about it, IMHO it looked too tight to me….but I wouldn’t be right.

She would like to keep it so might be will to try out the ideas..

    Cue anaphylactic shock lol

She’s a pharmacist should be fairly close to the right meds….

Put it on a NATO strap and that’ll stop the watch itself from contacting the skin, just incase it is the watch plating.

    The HRM wouldn’t work then.

Yea eBay would be the next option, CEX offer is pants.
