I’d consider chopping the steerer a bit and fitting some high rise bars.
I think this would be a bit safer and you may get an added bit of comfort from the high rise bars.

To remove some headset cups I used some leftover copper pipe and then cut down it and flared it out. The copper is really soft so it won’t damage the cups. Fast, cheap and safe.

That’s about 7500 calories… do you need to speak to someone?

Looks interesting. I’d be up for this.
I live near Compton and often end up on the Ridgeway.

Jekkyl- I always end up incorporating that bit on my local route. It’s great fun.

    1) Do I need it? [inset faux justification for ‘need’]
    2) Are the numbers right? – geometry/ fit/ compatibility with stuff I have
    3) Can I afford it? What do I need to sell?
    4) Is it red? an interesting colour?

    +1

Well, I enquired at the LBS – Cycle Evolution, Colchester- on Friday about getting a test ride on a T130. I was told I’d get a call back Monday to discuss what Whyte says as I’m interested in the S or Works.

I’ve heard nothing since. If I’m spending £3000 on a bike, is it unreasonable to expect some customer service? I’ll be taking my cash to another LBS.

I found the stooge a completely different beast to O-O Fatty I had.
I have ridden the Stooge a fair bit now and I’ve found the riding position very comfortable. Mixture of a high front, long TT and short stem have made the position perfect. I had the O-O set up similarly but for some reason it never felt right. Possibly lower front end?

Climbing on the stooge is easily better than the fatty, I realise there was a weight penalty. The ‘superior’grip, that many claim, of the fatty never shone through for me.

I fount the fatty average all round and not very inspiring however the Stooge is a superb bike all round (mix of trail centre, XC and a little road/commuting so far). It’s the sort of bike that makes you smile. It’s being used more than the Explosif and it’s not even muddy yet!

I’m a serial bike swapper because I rarely get on with bikes but when I find a good one it stays with me for a long time. I think I found one of my perfect N+1s!

I’m in exactly the same position. I’ve got 4 5 bikes now.
The stand can take 1 above and if you remove the lower arms you can neatly slide in 3 bikes.

Could always buy two of the stands if you have the wall space?

    Old pics…

Wow, Chumba has come back in a big way! Their line up looks very nice, both in spec and aesthetics.

Interesting- the claimed weight on the Whyte website is 13.5 kg which is 30lbs, so their weight is well out!

Kona explosif can go up to 150mm. I think it’s got a lovely feel and is a little less harsh than the alu frames above.

Sounds like a good all rounder for the UK. I’ve been a HT rider for years so I imagine any rear travel will be appreciated.
I’ll be riding trail centers and thinking of entering a some of UKGE next year and possibly some uplift days?

Great to hear. I’m torn between The T-130, G-150 and the Canyon Spectral 7 EX. Not sure how much travel I need.

What sort of riding do you do? Where will you be using it?

Popped into the LBS after work and they had a T130 S on display. Stunning bike! So much attention to detail and the spec is brilliant value for money. Tempted by the t130 works or g150 s.. Can’t test ride either though.

    I’m on 32×18.
I’ve been fine in Berkshire and Essex. Bit slow on the flats but I can mash up any hill so it works out okay.

I had issues with a set of Rebas that I purchased from Merlin.
Sent them back and had them fixed by fishers (who replaced seals and CSU!) and then Merlin forwarded them on. Great communication throughout and whole process only took a couple weeks. Proves a cheap mail-order shop can do customer service too. Well done Merlin!

^^ Running the Gusset SS kit. Setting up SS was very easy- spacing was perfect first time.

    Fanboy apparel! Who’s getting one?

On a side note, my dad saw the bike and thought I bought my mum a new dutch style town bike

Edit: I’ve just taken the freehub off and filled it with grease. The proII has been completely silenced! Wonder how long this will last.

I’m waiting for the Maxxis Chronicle.
Currently have a Spec Purgatory 2.3, which I’m rather impressed with.

I like them but not a fan of the logo.

Wish I hadn’t seen those purple ones now  ! They suit my Stooge perfectly.

Build finished for Winter. I’ll build it up with some niceer parts post-muck/grit season.

I did a recent road ride with no tools/spares/food. Just made sure I was within a few miles walk. Was a bit of a whim. Managed the 60 miles comfortably.

Very cool. I’ll have to do this.

With some of the maps above it looks like you only ride one way? Why would you do that? Or are you riding back the same way?

Looks neat! I’d love to have something like this.
Don’t think i’d change anything if it was my build.

Can I ask who’s making the frame?

I only use my Iphone 4s for strava.
Not had any issues in over a year and thousands of miles.
    Just logged my 4hr ride.
Must be something wrong with the phone/settings.

    1×10 on the following;
    SLX double
    XT triple
    X7 double
    Deore triple

I’ve never noticed any issue with shifting between any of them.
