For any one that’s interested. I ended up picking up the yelli from Canfield Europe. Great service and price from Steffen. Never got a reply from singular and just fancied something a bit different and aggressive. Quality is fantastic on the frame. When complete it shoudl weigh a touch over 25lbs (little bit more if I decide to get the reverb).
Still undecided on removing decals, stickers and graphics to make it all matt black and stealthy. Awaiting new chain and seat post and then its time to ride. Forks are set at 100mm for now but may up them to 120mm later on.
Thanks for all the information! Many more frames have been mentioned so i’ll check them out too. Wont be buying on-one though (many personal reasons is all).
Ive done this. Went from a Specialized Enduro to a 150mm TI HT and love the change. Its very light (23.8 lbs) so im happy to cycle it up anything and it feels so much more responsive. Th Enduo felt numb and sofa-ish and only got the responsive feeling when really pushing it at which point I was at the limit of my riding skill whereas the hardtail you get the same feeling throughout. It also develops your riding skills and choice of lines. I may well go back to FS in the future if I move somewhere that warrants it.
I tried to order a gamut chain guide and got the out of stock email too despite being ‘in stock’. Not helpful as to when it would arrive so I cancelled it.
I did a lot training up there with the RM and have always fancied taking a bike but never seemed to have enough spare time/energy to leave camp and head up that way. Maybe when I go down to to learn new modules..
I using the 26” version with spec purgatory tyres and they’ve been amazing. Not had any issue despite riding some very rough stuff with low pressure. Not sure if the 29er is different..
I tend to get more pinging this time of year because trails are drying out and all the small rocks/gravel is loose and the front wheel will kick it up more easily. At least thats my experience. My GT is ‘pinging’ nicely (and has been for years).
Ive got a set of EXM150 forks. They are fantastic! I always set my forks up firm and these are great as they sit up in their travel more(hard to describe). Ive had revs, 32s and 36s and these are definitely more stiff than revs and 32s. Very happy that I bought them. Haven’t needed a service yet and are dead easy to adjust and drop down to lower travel for the climbs. Only fork I’d swap them for is a set of devilles. Thinking of selling the rebas for some DTs.
My hilo has been great. Had it since Christmas and has seen a fair bit of abuse, mud and crashes. Ive also had a spesh commander and GD classic. Hilo is my favourite though. Infinitely adjustable and has been solid.
