ah jeepers, I thought everyone was going to say it'd be alright – you've just made it sound like hell Kingtut.

Warton – I'm not wet, i've been watching the TDF I know to wait for the biggest hill to make my move.

Thats my worry, I know I'd better stay well away from other riders which means it'll be even tougher.

I went out on the cx bike yesterday to get used to it, but still had knobblies on it so could resist riding off road. Yep back hurt (and I already have back problems too). Imagine it will get kinda boring slogging around the roads by myself.

I think my problem will be pacing myself. MTB is very start, sprint, stop (eat) and repeat.

yuck. Where can I buy just one of the (human) tick removal tools – what shop would stock them?

I was recommended revaltions by lots of other soul riders and they’ve been great. Got the adjustable travel ones. Perfect.

that was lucky, I was there yesterday & just rode/explored the other side which was all open (you just have to watch out for the vans speeding along the firetracks – ****ts). Was very tempted to go towards the reservoir at the end but was too tired – would have resulted in a big grump & shaking of fences had I been arsed to go.

its a different route to previous years, with less road & more technical trails this year, starting & ending in Porlock.

its a looong distance for exmoor but sounds like you are ready for it.

Great place to ride & will be a great challenge to attempt/do.

    Good luck.

Based in the Chilterns & it will be used for quick local spins mostly.

Don’t want to spend too much just yet. Want to see how I get on with it then start stealthy spending.

37.5km with 850 meters of climbing if you dropped down to the Hollandridge trail after Northend, nr the end of the ride.

    36km & 780 meters climbing, if you didn’t.

yeah thanks for organising that cinnamon girl. Great day.

My legs are tingling for more… or is that the stingers & brambles!

an idea so the group doesn’t have to split could be to do an extended loop for the faster riders while the others have lunch/drink/break

I mentioned it to a few riders, but for anyone who didn’t hear/see leaflets there is a British Heart Foundation charity ride in the Chilterns with lots of nice singletrack.

& thanks for the lift home boobs – I only got a small telling off (as people were already here so she couldn’t go mental).

jeepers – forgot the camera again.

welsh trail centres mostly with some natural rides too.

bike on back of car – bike bag keeps it out of view of £$&^%£$%. Also I find it handy for bunging all bike stuff in and hauling it into the house once there without upsetting anyone.

not removed the air core…yet. Only 6 months and not ridden loads as 2nd bike, but they were 2nd hand (6 months again).

Don’t get full travel when air out – shall I take em apart myself then?

    thanks peeps.

    think I mean aero bars.

thats cool. might try em after a while then – suppose space on the bars will be an issue anyho’. they will just be for solo ‘training’ (in the loosest sense) rides.

try to stay off the brakes anyway – its a waste of all that energy & speed that takes me forever to build up.

dunno why I want tri-bars – just know I like riding in that position and thought it would be areodynamic and comfortable for long stints.

As I say I have no experience of road riding and was just wondering (thanks to reading the new tri magazine by Future publishing). Hoops might well be fine, just wondering why its only tri riders who use ’em really.

    Sat 26th September.

Tell ’em you’ve got a load of sponsors etc, they may be able to help you out (my usual ploy of ‘I sent it aaages ago, please help’ usually works).

I don’t know who does the road events so afraid I don’t think I can help (only to say they know and allow for the fact that lots of people riding aren’t registered) and if you’re still raising money its all good.

    Hope it goes well.

‘cos the riding is close – people ride straight to and from the trails from home and there are lots of riders to choose from. Easy pickings.
