Don't worry about it – you'll only increase your HR!

Whenever testing my (resting) HR I was suprised that I was always pretty high, around 70 and even 80, even though I was pretty dang fit (training every day). Wife took it when I was asleep and it was waaaaay lower 40 or something – soon as I woke up it shot up (hmmm prehaps it has something to do with her)!

You may just be a 'high beater' (so to speak). I use HRM to train, but not bothered about trying to lower it, just see how it changes.

Wore it in an event once – that was waaay high just from the adrenaline of doing the event I imagine as we were pootling along.

i've done a ride starting by the uni, down to the sustrans trail, getting some miles in along this and down the excellent rocky Pipehouse lane to Midford. On to Wellow where there are plenty more tracks and back into the southern side of Bath.

North of bath gets pretty muddy as I recall.

reckon it'll be fine – great price too. I use a soft bike bag for similar trips – just pack it well to protect the bike further by adding some extra card, pipe lagging etc.

just got my replacement screw – £5.89 for one flippin screw – and its much shorter than the original, so doubt it'll work. 🙁

I use it and find it great. I prefer it over MM (but that may be because I'm used to Anquet).

    Bargain price.

    normally singletrack.

is taking the cx bike a daft idea – should I stick with fat mtb tyres?

whoops. meant to say can't (not can).

you aren't helping. I couldn't be arsed really, looks like i should get myself out.

fatter ones are the trend – although I find many new 2.1's don't seem much wider than older 'narrower' tyres.

nice on. Just ordered some Speed Kings (they're fast)!

I got tubleless Mtn Kings and they've been fine (even tho lots of people slated them on here), ridden in the wet Peaks, dry Chilterns, wet & dry Exmoor hills with no probs. Good price, worth a punt I'd say.

Sorry don't know about the Michelin.

Nick Cotton books tend not to have very technical riding I found.
Lots of fun singletrack rides in rough ride one tho.

Crab & Winkle way to Canterbury is good family track.

    thats great, thanks.

Hmm, planning on doing it as part of a c2c ride – would you recommend it?
Slightly cautious about the vagueness of trail at the start, but I suppose your heading for the (craggy) summit – is it still rideable?
I was thinking there is always the minor road to the east of Black Mountain if the weather is bad.

I just don't like the look of the alternative(s), that head east to Rhayader & Breacon, only to use lots of road.

I did the same with a vindaloo, etc last night to fight off an oncoming cold. Worked a treat – no cold, but a ring of fire and slight gut ache. Worth it tho. Actually I just polished the rest of the curry off for elevenses (cold). hhhmmmmm

    aha thats perfect thanks fh.

Sounds hard going along the reservoir and boggy past it. May just do a few more miles on the road to join the Marin trail then and save the reservoir trail for riding south – north.

    Thanks.

    Ah thanks.

Trying to determine if its worth/good riding from north to south along Llyn Cowlyd reservoir (as the Sarn Helen route does) to Capel Curig – anyone done it? Heard it can be boggy.

Or should I incorporate the Marin trail, to Betws Y Coed
