ah that link is for the british heart foundation event route.

there is another way that follows the Wey canal (missing out the hill over the north downs) into Guildford, to join the downs link there (for an even easier, flatter route).

mine tend to last until the knobbles are worn down – couple of years!
they'll start cracking/splitting very easily when too (very) old.

they still just tend to go to the back of the shed…. just in case I ever need them again.

side walls seem to split more than ever now, in which case they get binned (begrudgingly).

not racing. Green laning kinda – riding most of my normal mtb routes (between Reding and the M40), with a bit more road or (Sustrans) cycletracks to get further afield and more miles in.

yeah, they came on the bike, but didn't last long…

What about WHEN it dries out a bit? There seems to be a few Schwalbe CX Pro's around – any good?

lets see what response I get:

    What model dolly is it?

Was it this actual frame that won the TDF?

Swinley is well worth a visit, but try and meet a local or follow someone. May finally be rideable this weekend too.

Lots of riding in the Chilterns too. Train to Pangbourne.

I looked too, but decided against that model as I heard some negative points about it (for one, the joystick kept failing).

Blackberry are great for e-mails. The 8900 is much better bet from what i've heard. It has a GPS too.

(still not decided what to get myself yet).

    ah shucks.

Blooming filming crew still there too!
I was there with my little'un on his bike. We moved aside for a 4×4 who decided the best way to pass was to accelerate at us and go very close. Wife had to stop me taking pursuit. 😡

Ah well, fireroads it is then – I take it these are still ok!

Gotta love that 'made in china' quality.

Ah ok, thanks Bakey, that could be handy – can;t see your e-mail address – mines in my profile. Thanks.

Are you messing with me cynic-al?
Don't know what my reference is/was, but last time I contacted them becuase a part was missing they wouldn't do anything until I sent a picture of the 'missing' part!

Thanks, resistence training it is then. 😳
Might have a quick look and report back.

Can't do during the week/day usually, but hope to do a night ride there again soon.

    ah, I'm below the M40.

The CX bike has also been a godsend during the claggiest of times.

    yeah I'd go Mud-X.
(saying that I took the Conti Speed Kings out the other day and was fine).

where abouts in the Chilterns are you riding?
I know lots of stuff that isn't too bad.

Sorry don't live there, but been riding there a few times.

A good way to explore the island (and meet people) – http://www.bhf.org.uk/events-and-volunteering/events/event-finder/view-event.aspx?ps=1000755

I was under the impression that the person who goes into the back of someone is at fault – period.

They are driving too close if they cannot stop in time – for whatever reason.

oh yeah, forgot to say I got the old(ish) one.

phew, lucky I rarely clean my bike. Got Gobi. It is thin/narrow, but seems pretty good so far and its long, so allows a good deal of moving around on it.

depends whot riding do you do!

Already had some mtn kings which seemed ok in the little time before it got too wet (around corners) for them, so got some speed kings for the (dry) summer.

    Bargainous.

Del – have you dealt with DX? They've were really cr@p last time, it took forever and I got nowhere with them.

hasn't been/got wet. Will have a look at the charger.

    singletracksurfer
    Full Member

thanks. Hmm good replacement or risky cheap replacement!?

Could it just be the charger – if so how would I know?

Anyone had this problem – charger light doesn't come on at all when charging it so assumed the battery got naffed when it got left for a long time (2 months) unused, but just heard some people have had charger problems so could actually just be that.

some of the roads need to re-classified as off-road now!

yeah the trail used to be signposted as a bridleway I think and there were definately no fences, gates, etc but recently (last couple of years) they changed it – fences, no cycling signs. 😥

    singletracksurfer

    aha thanks very much.

p.s. horse riders are allowed to go anywhere they like in the Chilterns (or so it seems).

    OK, bit like cyclists too.

Me too – I checked with CC definitive map and it is a footpath. Boo.

I use it as a fun challenging climb then on to Hatchet wood descent.
Always used it (as nick says have a map on you to show anyone if questioned and pleed innocence), never had any problems, unlike the Hatchet descent, which is definately a bridleway and legit!
