Singular swift always rates highly with most people. Myself included.

Just bought the Oakley EVZero – ‘Path’ version I believe, which are smaller than the standard ones (so don’t look so daft on my little head).

Only ridden with them once, but love them. Really light and no frame to create blind spots so you forget they are on. Seem great in the woods and out in the open, maybe a little slow to change but no real issue and maybe not dark enough for very bright days. Not too much of an issue in the UK. They stay demisted pretty well, even with my Neanderthal brow.

Mate got his wife the Laura Trott MTB1 which was reduced to £350 (medium only) – bargainous – search around and see if you can find one still.

Great, that’s brilliant news, thanks very much for that info, just what I wanted to hear.

As others have said, superb service. Nit lens replacement, but I snapped the frame, my fault, but they just replaces them, focus, no questions.

BTW what do you think of the evzero? I fancy a pair of Photochromic ones, and hear this design doesn’t fog up.

    That’s pretty good tbf.

Swinley bike hire are selling off their old HIRE bikes (so used a lot) @ around 20% off!

There are usually some great deals, 30%+, on last year’s model bikes, new/un-used if you keep a look out though.

The cycling events website http://www.pedalplanner.co.uk had a load on it last year, but there doesn’t seem to be so many on this year.

It was the track from Upper Lodges (Ditchling road – car park) which goes past the north of the Nurseries/gardens and then bears right (south) past the tea rooms, to Stanmer house I was thinking of.

There was a ride in MBUK recently from ByC which if you missed out the leg up around Snowdon should be OK.

I have a virtually brand new Witter ZX404 for sale which does exactly what you want. Only used it once between vans. In Reading area, £200. Email in profile if you’re interested.

Ah ok thanks, maybe I’ll stick with it and investigate further then.

Ah ok, thanks, I wondered if I was going a bit mad as some sites, like STW and Bike Radar, seemed to have them, even have guides on them, but no button/link.

I like my Endura MT500. Quality varies a bit though I think – I went through the arse very quickly on some regular shorts while the same but 3/4 length version are still going strong.

Thanks, I’ll get one of those then – which jobs/parts have you used it for?

Tracey, which installation tool did you get, one of the <£10 ones?

DON’T USE Goldcar they were awful for us. Not Majorca. They (aggressively) insisted that we (and everyone else there, which meant a 2hr delay) pay hundreds more £’s or we wouldn’t be covered even though we had a print out saying we were when we booked it.

Yeah I saw the complete kits, they look pretty good and are good value, but I have the cups so just wanted the rod.

I need 140mm in length. A couple of nuts which I know will fit would be good,
although I may well have some that fit. If anyone has some extra they want to sell on.

I could see lots of packs of 5 and I have lots of other bolts and didn’t really want to buy 5 if I could get one somewhere.

    Thanks.

Couldn’t find them on ebay and can’t got to the shops easily.

My problem might have been that I was looking at M8 or 10.

I’ve got one. Bought one when on offer to encourage me to fix my own wheels. Still sitting unused. Anyway, I’m in Reading if you wanted to have a go.

    Exactly the same conundrum here.

I (kind of) like the the idea of building one up, ticks the father & son time box, but it is time consuming and can work out pretty expensive unless you take your time and pick up bargains (and you don’t really let them decide what parts you put on) along the way.

I saw a father/child build at an event which was a Chinese carbon frame with lots of bling (light race) parts, but it was still cheap as it was 2nd hand, now obsolete 26″ bits ;-)

It worked out really well for them – cheap, light and strong. They might have even posted something on STW so worth searching as a few people have shared their builds I believe.

Wingnut Hyper 2.5 is bang on 10 litres, but the main compartment is very spacious. It also has side pockets for quick access while on. Sits really low which makes it comfy, keeps it out of the way and back less sweaty.

I do like compartments and being uber organised, but found most bags, especially small ones, just don’t fit much in at all.

Another keen user of it here. Keeps the chain largely gunk free.

Although as most people have stated, best in the summer and I take one of those sweet diddy little bottles with me, especially on big rides.

My batcave is too far away – the last butler couldn’t handle the walk. I just need to be able to tell postie to leave any packages.

Jeepers I feel like a rubbish dad too now.

I just do a ham & cheese sandwich with lettuce or wrap or a fajita chicken wrap if I’m feeling super kind.
    plus
    Pepper/tomato/cucumber
    Grapes or Apple
1/2 packet of crisps or similar but healthier option
    Caramel waffer
    Yoghurt

They’ve never wanted much different and hated the school dinners, and we always have a good proper evening meal anyway.
