Thanks Buzz. Does the Skyline have the best finish (I seem to remember being told)?

p.s. I know the Skyline has lots more doubletrack.

is he a cyclist? we went to coed y brenin for a long weekend. T’was great.

Another one I organised involved hiring a boat (transport, accommodation, cheap beer & food and entertainment all in one) on the river Thames, pubs, games and shenanigans along the way, 2nd night moored up very close to central Oxford and went out, 3rd day pootled back down the river, home.

another vote for Wingnut – especially for heavier loads as the weight is distributed onto the hips which is a real back saver. Enduro or Adventure.

i finally explored crowthorne side (more) properly last week.
Can’t wait to go back this weekend and re-ride it. Is there much more beyond the underpass?

Got some gpx files if it helps.

Go Pro is usually regarded as the best by most.

I got one and am very happy. Whole thing is dead small and light. Chest mount is my favourite mount too. Perfect for mtb and snowboarding, and for the honeymoon I expect 😉

Get the HD if you can, otherwise the basic is still pretty dam good.
    see http://www.roughrideguide.co.uk/mtb-gadgets.html

They also do a new display mount that enables you to see what you’re recording too.

another believer who wears skins on rides and compression tights after a looong day or between multiple day rides.

Stops my legs being all twitchy at night and I feel better in the morning (obviously I can’t say what I would have felt like had I not been wearing them, other than from previous experience… or maybe I should try them on just one leg) ❓

I also think the shorts have helped me avoid cramp on long days (because I used to get it a lot but don’t now).

washed my previous on-one merino top at 30degrees and now it fits my kid 😥

my fault, never read the label, just washed with all my other Merino stuff (which remained my size) 🙂

    as above – recommended.

I got this excellent cycling specific yoga dvd http://www.roughrideguide.co.uk/Yoga-for-Cyclists.html

never did a class as suggested (yes too many elderly ladies did put me off going to classes) but the dvd visuals and instructions work fine.

endura stealth bibs (waterproof and fleecy) for the worst conditions.

had some endura shorts that tore after 1+ yrs which they simply replaced for some nice new ones 😀

had the same issue so got a sat map and am very happy.

os mapping, 8hr battrry life, easy to use, follow routes or tracks where you’ve been, lots of stats, robust, big clear screen.

    Go Pro here too. http://www.roughrideguide.co.uk/Go-Pro-Camera.html

As mentioned, you are not likely to break it. I use a chest mount mostly and that seems to keep it out of harms way.

they would be swamped by the 1100 on the helmet.
Better the other way around as Dibbs suggests.

I like them both to be the same kinda power personally.

keep an eye on them tho as it does wobble back there.

I really love my Wingnut Adventure (26 litres). The way the weight rests on the hips thanks to the ‘Wing’ pockets really makes a big difference with a big (so probably heavy) bag.

Trail centres, etc that are making money will (I hope) stay and bridleways etc will stay, but it’s the ‘open access’ forests ceasing that will affect people the most I’d guess. Not good. 👿

Couple of good ones there. A mate has the RC200 now and loves it.
Never saw a Slingshot over on these shores – would like to see what they’re like.

    Anymore for anymore?

what’s the difference like between the extreme and lite (stats look the same on the website)?

I’ve got standard warm tights and don’t like riding in trousers if I can help it, so thought some waterproof tights for cold wet days would be an idea – argh I can’t decide 😕

I use this http://www.roughrideguide.co.uk/Magic-Shine-Front-Bike-Light.html – actually I use a 2nd one on the helmet too.

really nice and bright. it has the newer, well sealed battery pack with the handy LCD display too.

whichever way the terrain rides best surely – are you autistic?

I sometimes even just mix it up and wiggle all over the place as I’m not autistic and young (so I tell myself), so don’t mind change 😉

I’m sorry to hear that – hire a PI to follow her and find out who she is seeing (it’s probably your best mate) 😯

sorry, yeah, was just stating it wasn’t ‘proper’ off road if that’s what they wanted.

I’m also planning to do this, avoiding Shap Fell/Mosedale), but what is the best alternative?

    1 – Long Sleddale
2 – bridleway north from Mosedale cottage or even
3 – Gatescarth Pass, along Haweswater res

the Sustrans is road & cyclepath though – not ‘proper’ off road.

flippin ‘eck on and on, no wonder the rear wheel is floating up 😯

Singular Swift is around 24lb (with mud) 😕

My Epic with all it’s gears and suspension is only a couple lbs heavier on paper, but feels different (much heavier) when riding.

    Just enjoy 😀

TandemJeremy – or anyone else – have you used or know/heard about the Golden motor link?

I’m interested in converting a cargo bike.

Thanks everyone, thats what I needed to hear.

Like I say, I had planned to do it and save my mum some money, but was scared off by the guy at ITC saying it was VERY difficult time consuming and I would need to involve accountants and solicitors, etc.

I will call them off, call Nick (above) and maybe even give it (or parts of it ) a go myself.

    Cheers.

    vinnie – YHM

Yeah the hills are harder than many people expect, but I come from the Chilterns and know it very well and have done a few 100km rides.

I ride the CX bike on most stuff, but know that it wouldn’t be suitable on a few trails, which is why I’m pondering. The video showed someone on a CX bike and I didn’t see any gnarly stuff. 😕
