there have been a few threads on this just recently – do a search to see everyone opinions. Mine is biased – I love my Go Pro.
Great deal from the UK here http://www.roughrideguide.co.uk/mtb-gadgets.html

oh yeah good tip – it looks like you are mounting it upside down but it allows you to angle the camera up more. Also you will probably need to download the new software from the GoPro website to give the camera an upside down record mode. Easy enough to do.

I’d get a 2nd battery personally. Contact Smudge – he’s got a website and everything now and will give you best advice.

Lovin’ my Go Pro HD. Chest mount is by far my favourite set-up.
Helmet seems too high to me. You still get a mount you can use on your helmet in the naked pack.

PSA HD one and a free chest mount for £269 here: http://www.roughrideguide.co.uk/Go-Pro-HD-Camera.html

Yeah if you get caught for duty I think it generally works out more expensive. Some people get away with it, some don’t. Could be an arse dealing with overseas if things went wrong too.

Sorry haven’t used the non HD, but I’ve heard good things about it.
Quality is superb on the HD – more than I need really. If it’s just for the t’internet the standard should be fine.

get camera, silicone cover and cleaning kit for £100!!

Love my GoPro. Not had any problems at all and my kids love using it around the skate park 😯

Good deal here with free chest mount (my favourite method of mount for mtb’ing) http://www.roughrideguide.co.uk/mtb-gadgets.html

They call (land or air) ambulances if its serious. Any minor stuff is…well minor so can be treated easily enough or be driven to A&E.

If you get (group) affiliated with the CTC, (about £50 + one off set-up fee of £50) for insurance and the ride is on public rights of way, and you show a duty of care (risk assessment) I believe you will be covered.

Legally you don’t need anything I gather – please correct me if i’m wrong.

Generally they don’t seem very necessary at small events, so I’d be inclined to just inform the police and have a phone ready to call the local hospital/ambulance service.

I’ve done it… twice. Once in a group over 3 days and another on CX bikes in 1 day.

It’s not quite all on NCN trails – a few bits use some nice off road bits instead of the road. It’s mostly off road on cyclepaths so not technically challenging but was a very pleasant ride and a good one to catch up on chat with as you can ride 2 abreast.

    It’s in this book http://www.roughrideguide.co.uk/Mountain-bike-rides-to-the-South-West-A4-size.html

    I use http://www.roughrideguide.co.uk/1st-Aid.html
waterproof pack, so I know it can sit around in the backpack and not be all soggy & useless when I need it.

Wingnut here too after years of Camelbak or saddle bag, bottles and full pockets and very happy to make the change.

The 2.5 holds plenty of kit and you can access the pockets on the go, which is a massssive bonus, also back stays cool and as it sits lower it has a lower centre of gravity.

Also use the wingnut adventure for big trips and the benefit of the weight sitting on your hips, not shoulders/back is so useful.

got this bag. very nice & still going strong after about 4-5yrs.
should stay dry enough as laptop goes inside another bit in the bag.
    lots of pockets.

it’s pretty good from what I can gather. The biiig forest out past Versaille (west) has some good singletrack and there is even more just to the south of Paris from what I’ve been told (sorry don’t know any names).

do I need to buy different things and is there a price difference between upgrading and total new install?

i want / am thinking of upgrading from xp to 7 – where/how is best to do it?

it’s close to good riding in the chilterns & swinley 🙂

town is better than it was but still a bit chavy, various rent rates (i’d imagine).

it is as ‘you have severely upgraded it over time’ 😉

p.s. no not really, insurance premium will only go up too. Just buy it back from a 2nd hand or the cash converters on Gloucester road 😀

or demo a good bike (free) from Mountain Trax in Barkham

note: this will work out more expensive if you then buy said bike 😉

take a packed lunch – I heard (from the car park guy at Afan) he wasn’t trading anymore/at the moment – something to do with a license i.e. not having one. Could just be nasty gossip though.

ar$e. wondered if it was a permissive route, as seen people using it.
what is the best way to end the C2C ride (from Stony Leas)?

    Thanks.

mine shrank after about the 3rd (30 degree) wash – in wash with all my other merino stuff which was fine 🙁

My mates one went in first wash, from medium to 5yr old – my son has it now. The arms didn’t shrink as much as the rest did though 🙁

2 is more than twice the work of 1 in the earlier years, but makes it easier later on (although probably not easier than just 1), as they play (and fight) together.

1 didn’t make too much difference to my riding, but 2 did – needed twice as many ‘riding brownie points’ as it is harder work for Mrs STS. Nowadays they’re a bit older so the brownie share price is back to normal.

All good though. More fun with two IMHO

    edit: true, 1 -> 2 is greater work than 0 -> 1
